Rogot Optical

I have mixed feelings about this place. I dropped in last September for an eye exam, and found the staff reasonably attentive and professional. The optometrist herself was also professional and pleasant. All well and good. But more recently? Not so much.
Since the exam, I’ve made contact with a vendor in Indiana for a pair of custom reading glasses. The vendor needs to have a copy of my prescription on file, so last Friday I walked into Rogot to make the request. I could tell by the look of the woman at the front desk, almost immediately, that she was going to give me attitude. Just couldn’t be bothered to do her job. (I’ve since determined that she was probably the office manager!)
Bottom line, she refused to fax my prescription for me. Told me I would have to arrange for someone from the vendor company to make the request directly to Rogot, after which they would fax the prescription. Two days later, when I checked back with the vendor, I was told that Rogot wouldn’t release my prescription to them without a written authorization from me (HIPPA compliance and all that). Which certainly seems reasonable and by the book — as one would expect. Except that this isn’t at all what the woman at Rogot told me when I asked her, directly to her face, about the procedure for having my prescription faxed to the vendor. No mention of a signed form, or anything of the sort.
So I marched right back there about an hour ago, and took care of the matter — this time for real (it had better be). A big deal? In the grand scheme of things, no of course not. But an absolutely unnecessary annoyance? You bet.
Under the circumstances, why would I care to go back there again? There are several other optometrist shops, all within walking distance of my apartment, any one of which could be expected to render service that is at least as good as Rogot Optical. Why deal with the attitude?

The doctors are great and helpful. The staff at the front desk left a lot to be desired. They are not very friendly and words they choose with their clients are unprofessional. They will not get any business from me or my family.
