Yes it is small. However, both the waiter and the food were wonderful. The white sangria and the traditional Brazilian cocktails were excellent. Go and try something new. The black beans were out of this world and the coconut pudding was fabulous. The green soup actually had delicately flavored collard greens. Skip the Brazilian barbecue places and try this instead.

It Is a really tiny restaurant. If u need the restroom, you have to walk through the kitchen(literally inside the kitchen). Food isn’t that good though. Regular food, nothing special. :(

Got the Brazilian pork chop lunch special that I had been craving since my first visit(Because it was Friday and I needed to cheer myself up after a really rough week!) For $ 9.99, this is a fantastic deal– you get a large juicy pork chop served in a delicious brown sauce, rice topped with fried plantains, and black beans. This was easily 3 meals worth of food for me! Great deal for lunch(quality meal and great portion!)

I ordered take out… wasn’t thrilled with the service or the dish. My first disappointing Brasilian experience. For the same lunch chicken rice and beans for $ 10, goto Tina’s Cuban where they are generous with the portions, give 2 sides in addition to rice n beans for the same price. AND they charged a $ 1 for salsa which is free everywhere else, you know a restaurant is desperate if they can’t give free salsa. Food was flavorless. My first and last time…

Came here for lunch on a Saturday. Small little restaurant. Ordered a beef empanada and eggs with sausage. Eggs were delicious and so was the empanada. The only disappointing thing was that the beans were sweet. Staff was very friendly.

So glad I found this place. Customer service was very adequate. The food is amazing, I have a soft spot for empanadas and this place makes them so perfect. Everything on the menu is amazing. This is the closet to Brazilian food you will get in nyc. Thank you I will visit soon

We had a delicious dinner on a lovely evening near the open door/window. This very small, narrow restaurant with a bathroom located through the kitchen is not best for groups or large people. However, it’s a good spot for a duo or dining solo for delicious Brazilian cuisine. Whenever I see Yuca fries in the menu, they’re a must to order. I love fries of all genres and these Yuca fries and dip were pretty stellar. I had he ropa vieja and Pete had the pork chops. My ropa was too watery for my taste but delicious otherwise. Pete had like 2 giant pork chops. The rice and beans were great, too. Order an empanada or 4 as an appetizer. You won’t be disappointed.

Went here with three friends on a casual Sunday night. We ordered a pretty good variety and I didn’t hear a single complaint! Everything was delicious. Prices are great for the neighborhood, as well :)

Late on a Saturday and this small spot is packed. Luckily I came in to get some takeout, so waited near the kitchen to get my order taken. Truly surprised on their quick turnaround — despite delivery orders and a busy night — 10 minutes and my food was ready. Ordered the Fried Diced Chicken($ 8) and Carioca Beef stew($ 16). Diced chicken is lightly breaded, a bit overcooked, yet tasty in the dipping sauce they provide. Beef stew is a bit salty though is covered when adding in the mountain of yellow rice. They do not skimp on the beef here, and with the plantains, you get your money’s worth. Not really blown away by the food here, but it’s comforting and the quick service is appreciated.

This is the best restaurant I have been to in New York. They serve the best white rice with black beans i have ever tasted. Keep in mind im from Puerto Rico, and we have some of the best rice n beans in the world. Superb service, great ambiance and incredible price. $ 54 for a dinner for 2 with drinks. First time we went by ourselves, next time we brought the whole family! This is a Gem!

Hard to find a decently priced and tasty restaurant in the theatre district! Very happy to stumble upon this place. Waiter was so cute and soft spoken. Very small interior but ended up feeling cozy! Would come back!

A go-to reliable spot pre-theatre. Love the rice, beans and greens with fried plantains. They also carry Guarana soda, a personal favorite of mine. One thing to keep in mind(and it just may be my personal sense of distraction whenever I’m in the City) and that’s actually finding the place. I’ve been here many, many times through the years, yet I always seem to walk right by it! Highly recommended — a wonderful hole in the wall that’s been there for many years. Friendly service.

Every time we come to NY, we must do a visit to this place. It’s become a tradition for us. It’s a small cozy place, that if you’re lucky you can walk in and sit(without waiting much). The bossanova playing over is also a nice touch, relaxes you and creates a great ambiance. Now, let’s get to business… The food … OMG … The food, I’m not Brazilian, but the taste of these recipes/dishes are flavorful delicious… We normally come here for the empanadas(beef), the Bife Acebolado and Milanesa. I’ve also have had some of the other plates too(to check them) … and they didn’t disappoint. Oh, and make sure to get your Guarana!

Wonderful Brazilian food! As a Brazilian-American i definitely approve. The only reason i give 4 instead of 5 is because dinner is expensive. Go for lunch! Great lunch specials. The desert is also wonderful. Brigadeiro!!! Passion fruit mouse also great. I’ve had the passion fruit moose and brigadeiro. Spectacular!

I have been here several times in the past, and today I finally decided to write a review. I used to love this place, today not so much. I came for lunch, it wasn’t so crowded and only had one person working the dining room. He had his hands full. I ordered the grilled steak lunch special, which came with rice and beans and sautéed onions. Forty percent of the steak was inedible as it was FAT, which is why it was greasy. The rice was room temperature and the beans hot. I guess they thought the beans would heat the rice up… NOT! Not my best experience, but would definitely come back to see if there is improvement. Overall my experience has been the food is tasty and good; today may have been a bad day.

Meals are usually $ 15 to $ 20 but on weekdays before 8pm they have happy hour specials for food as well as drinks. The drink special is $ 5 for any of their caipirinhas. I had the regular(lime) flavor, which was tasty(read: sweet) but contained minimal alcohol. The food specials are $ 10 for fried tilapia and rice, Brazilian chicken risotto, or steak-and-eggs*, all of which came with a side of red or black beans. I had the tilapia with red beans and it was absolutely delicious. The beans are more of a soup, and they’re perfectly seasoned and tasted delicious over the fish and rice. The person I was with got the risotto and really liked it. The portion sizes were totally adequate for $ 10 at a reasonably nice restaurant. *It was definitely steak-and-something; I’m almost positive it was steak/eggs but it might have been steak and something else.

Get the sangria! It is delicious with plenty of fruit in each glass and did I forget to mention that it’s only $ 5. So why wouldn’t you get it? I also had one of their dinner specials which is $ 10. I had the arroz con pollo with a side of black beans. It was so good. It was a plate of buttery, cheesy and chicken filled rice. I would go back for some more but not too often cause you know, I’m not trying to get a heart attack. One con about this place is that it’s small and you have to go through the kitchen to use the bathroom.

Summary: Home cooked Brazilian. Take out does take a little time. Great neighborhood locals place. Atmosphere: Long and narrow, this isn’t anything special from the outside. Try to get the seats that are to the right with the booth. A few of the tables on the left(for 2) have obstructions, but management does try to help you out as you sit. This is home style. Once it fills up that is it. In the summer they open the front up to the outdoors. The Service: I personally love the waitress. She’s very sweet and professional. They serve in waves though so if you’re right in the middle of a big wave, you’ll feel service is slow. Just get your drink on first and you’ll be fine. I’ve had bad luck on forgetfulness of 1 or two random additions, but never any bad responsiveness once it’s pointed out. They just remove it and try harder next time. I usually over order, so they are likely doing me a favor. Drinks: My preference is always for the Red Sangria vs. the white. Fruit juices are also quite nice. Caipirinha are also classically Brazil and great here. The Food: So as I mentioned that I usually over order, this is the area where I tell you why. It’s because the food is AMAZING!!! And yes, it deserves that many !. I had another friend tell me that — though he moved away from the area — he still trucks it up to Hells Kitchen for this food. I actually walk past 6 solid blocks of 9th avenue goodness to go to this place and I order take out regularly despite the 1 hr delivery time(hey. they actually really do cook it, so I’m cool). Brazilian Style Cheese Puffs — It’s dough and cheese. They do it well. Get it. Empanadas — This style is fried. If you love empanadas, then get them. They are well executed and homemade Rice Croquette with Cheese — Since I like both rice and cheese putting them together in a croquette is awesome and so is this appetizer. Get this if this is also your deal. If you like rice and bread go for the puffs instead. Chicken & Okra: I love these two things and together in a wonderful light gravy, poured over yellow rice, it’s heaven. Mix in a few red beans or black(you get to choose) and I am just a happy happy girl. Fish Stew — I struggle to decided between Chicken and Okra and the fish stew. This lovely coconut milk soup will remind you of similar dishes from the Caribbean. You might need extra yellow rice to really fully enjoy this, because the stew is just too good. Prawns & Yucca — Also unbelievable. Again, to me the rice is a sauce delivery mechanism. Pan seared Sirloin Steak — This has no sauce, but it’s very nicely executed. I have one friend who gets it nearly every time. Flavorful and nice.
