Amazing Thai!!! We had Pad Thai, Coconut lemongrass curry chicken, and Thai fried rice. Loved it all — servings were too large to finish so I had plenty to take home. Yummy!

Great Thai! I used to live in Hong Kong and had lots of Thai. This place has great satay and curry. Love it!

As some of the other reviewers have noted, stick with the noodle dishes and you’ll be fine. I’ve had most of them and they’ve all been solid, and the prices are reasonable. Based on the noodle dishes alone I’d give this place four stars, but I had to take one star away due to the other dishes, particularly the curries. First of all, the curries are very expensive — nearly twice the price you’d pay at any other Thai place. They advertise organic chicken, and after having eaten questionable chicken at other places I was willing to pay the premium to see if it was worth it. While the chicken here was fine, I wouldn’t say it was great and probably not worth the price premium. Also, sadly, the green curry I got was watery and not spicy at all. It was edible but that’s about all I’ll give it. This place is fine and better than most other Chelsea Thai places I’ve been to, but I would really lot good(SPICY) Thai food to come to Chelsea!

From order to pickup, it took about 20 minutes. Nice décor. No dine in customers on a Saturday around 3pm. Mostly just folks coming in to place to-go orders. Pretty good. Got the yellow curry with steak. It was $ 21 for a quart, which fed two people. Came with a small pint of rice. The curry had a nice kick to it. The steak was in «chunk» form, not shredded or sliced as you may usually get. I’d get this again. The Mango Cup, while only $ 3.50, was under ripe. Probably my mistake for ordering Mango in October, but I wish they would take it off the menu if they couldn’t find a way to serve it ripe. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here, but if you’re in Chelsea, it’s a decent spot.

There have been times when this place has slowed to «ruin your lunch break» levels. On those days, you’ll find a line out the door. My advice to you on these days is: keep right on walking, stop by Homes Kitchen across the street. I’ve waited 30 minutes for a wrap in here. And it’s not large enough to accommodate a line. Rhong Tiam has some of the best Thai I’ve ever had. The traditional dishes are spot on — ingredient quality is top notch as well. For the money, they are very generous with the beef. Their Roti wraps are a great value if you’re more price conscious or want something less traditional. I recommend the chicken.

3.5 stars. I ordered the«drunk man noodle» with squid. The original is quite spicy, but you can always modify if you’re not feeling up for the spiciness. I really love drunken noodles, and the flavors of these noodles did not disappoint. I was however slightly disappointed about the squid. I didn’t feel like it added that much more happiness for me. In retrospect, I should have just ordered some juicy meat or even tofu to complement the noodles. The AC was weak, so it is not the greatest spot to sit and eat at if you can’t handle the humid summer weather.

Rhong Tiam is the best thai food in NYC. You pay more than your average Thai delivery option, but their product is superior. It is really top notch for take-out/delivery. The protein always tastes fresh, and they note that they cook with organic and top notch suppliers for their meat, seafood, and poultry. They have healthy options, but if you’re looking to get your usual fix for drunken noodles, or basil chicken, without all the grease, this place is #1.

Truly awful dining experience. Overpriced and food is served in plastic wrapped in paper. Does the earth need anymore plastic use? For a takeout plastic experience, it’s completely overpriced. Dont bother trying to have a conversation either because the place is echo-y and music is loud. The curry was tasty but was filled with two small pieces of tofu and a bunch of string beans. $ 15 for string beans 2pc tofu? Daylight robbery. $ 70 for spring rolls, two wraps, a pad see ew, veg curry &3 bottles of ice tea. Only for suckers. Go somewhere else with your money.

Yes, the food was good, but it’s not a restaurant per se. It’s a take-out with alot of seating. Even if you are dining on the premises, your order comes to you in plastic take-out containers, serviceware and enclosed in a brown paper bag as if ready to be delivered. Very un-eco. A bit on the pricey side for takeout Thai, and the ambience is not that great. Loud music blared but kept choking out because the wireless was bad, but there was feedback on the speakers(I counted 5 times) while waiting for the food. I guess it was a blessing the food was packaged to go, because I could only stand to sit here and eat the appetizer and take the rest home. If you are there for Thai grocery, note that it only has dry goods grocery items, no frozen or produce sections.

This could be the best Thai in Chelsea, however, ** DONOTORDERDELIVERY ** ** PICKITUPYOURSELF or EATTHERE! ** I ordered delivery last week and my food never showed up, nor did they answer the phone, as previous Unilocalers mentioned it happened to them as well, and I was about to give them 1-Star for that. However, I decided to give them another shot as the pics on Unilocal looked pretty good, so I came in to the restaurant for lunch today, and my dish was amazing. Got the Pad See Ew with Steak, and was one of the best I’ve ever had. The noodles were perfect texture, exciting flavors, the beef was perfectly cooked and they didn’t skimp on the steak portions — there were at least 10 thick, cubed beef pieces(look at my pic). And provided a wedge of lime to be squeezed on top, signaling an authentic Thai spot. Overall, great dish, and although I didn’t have the Roti with Curry, I was tempted to order it as it looked really good as well. Atmosphere feels sort of like a casual takeout place/Internet café as there’s a long counter for people to plug in their laptops. I struggle cause I’d give them 5-stars just for that dish alone, but given my delivery experience and since I’ve only had one dish there, it’s hard for me to do that. But I’m definitely fine giving them a solid 4-Star rating. My advice — eat at the restaurant(no delivery) and order the Steak Pad See Ew, you won’t be disappointed.

I did not expect much of Rhong Tiam, even with its 4-star Unilocal rating. I was in the neighborhood and was looking for a cheaper dinner alternative when I came across Rhong Tiam. At first glance, prior to walking into the restaurant, I had very low expectations like I do of many of the Thai restaurants in Manhattan, but I was pleasantly surprised as I was greeted by a downtown, shabby chic interior. Alongside one wall is an entire shelf of books, knick knacks, and board games, by which I was intrigued. And the restaurant is spacious, with tables set far enough from one another to prevent accidents and elbow-rubbing. The restaurant is perfect for pick-up, sit-ins, smaller and bigger groups. The food itself is great, in my opinion. I’ve had an array of their appetizers, including the dumplings and Andy’s wings, which all have been great. Their Pad Thai is flavorful and the noodles are not overcooked. The curry is great, too. I have no complaints when it comes to their food. Towards the end of the day, smaller appetizers such as the wings and dumplings are not available, since they sell out. I have to mention though, that their food is expensive for take-out Asian food. Most of their business is through delivery, it seems, since the restaurant is almost always empty but the delivery-boys are always bustling in and out with bags and bags of food.

This place would get one or two more stars from me if it didn’t have loud, mostly incoherent, pop music blaring and they didn’t treat all orders as if they were take-out. First — I go to restaurants to dine, the takeout thing really does not appeal to me at all. Second — plastic forks and plastic containers really rub me the wrong way. There is the aesthetic element, but the damage they do to the environment when they are tossed out is what really incenses me. Yes, they are not Styrofoam, at least, but I felt compelled to wipe my container out after I had finished my duck larb and take it home to toss in recycling. The cardboard container for the rice could only be sent to the trash. Service was a bit odd. I looked at the items listed on the chalk board and didn’t see some that appeared when I scouted the place’s menu out online, so I asked if it was indeed the menu and they said yes. When I frowned and looked a bit puzzled, they handed me a paper, takeout-style, menu that had plenty of dishes on it that weren’t on the board, as far as I could see, including an interesting selection of Isan items. So, the one dish I had, duck larb, was plenty hot, as I had ordered, and was quite tasty. It came in at a bit over $ 20, so I was pleased that they did not skimp on the quality of ingredients(except, maybe the iceberg lettuce underneath it all, but that is pretty common everywhere else, too) or on the quantity. I can’t say that sampling one dish is a good basis for a review, but I also have to say that I will find it difficult to go back to try more given the facts of the sonic ambiance and negative environmental impact of all the disposable dinnerware.

Plenty of space with tables and chairs but the layout has a interesting theme. The store comes off like a grocery market but you place your food orders at the front and whether you take out or eat in all food is packed take out ready to go. I went with the pad thai noodles and spring rolls. Both were super pricey for a lunch meal in this area. The pad thai was cooked well and had a spicey kick. I did get the flavors of sweet tangy and spicey. The duck spring rolls i will pass next time. They were overly fried almost crossing the burnt level and the duck meat inside was not tender at all. The fresh coconuts were refreshing though. For the expensive price and for it being a no frills kind of establishment i probably won’t repeat.

Great concept for a Thai establishment! Nothing fancy but clean, friendly staff and great food! The hub and I were both in the mood for Thai food and were conveniently 1 block away. We walked in and immediately loved the décor. It felt very cozy and I couldn’t wait to check out the dried food and goodies along the right wall after placing our orders. The menu is limited but had exactly what we wanted. I ordered the pad thai with wild shrimp and the hub got pad thai with grass fed beef. The woman who took our order asked if it was ok that the pad thai was spicy. I am not a real fan of spicy food in general, but she said it wasn’t too spicy. Not sure what that meant, but went along with it. First time we have seen such a health conscious menu in the selection of meats and loved that! We also tried the roti with massaman curry. We checked into Unilocal after placing our order and sitting at a table top when we realized that upon checking in, they offer 10% off your bill. Hoping it wasn’t too late, the hub notified the staff and they were ok with adjusting the bill. He felt bad about the trouble it would take to adjust the bill and settled for another beer. Awesome!!! The food came out all at once which was fine. Yes, the pad thai is a bit spicy. Not I can’t taste my food spicy, but fair enough, she did warn us and although I am not a fan of spicy, it definitely was manageable. The food is DELICIOUS! We both thoroughly enjoyed the roti and massaman. They use fresh coconut milk for their curry and you can tell because it it rich and creamy. Our pad thai was a larger than normal serving. The noodles were plentiful and so flavorful. It did taste authentic as I have traveled to Thailand and when compared to other Thai restaurants in town, this place definitely is rightly highly rated for their great food. Come hungry… you will not be disappointed!

Pretty tasty Thai food! And they use organic ingredients :) Good volume of food for lunch.(I could eat more though. lol) Drunken noodle were suuuuuuper spicy! But it was delicious as they have big chunk of grass fed beef cube in it. I had to ask for a rice(because of the spice!), but they gave me for free :) I just found great Thai place, and I will try some other on a menu for sure.

Wow. What happened Rhong Tiam?! I used to LOVE this place and trek from all over the city to eat here but after tonight I’m not sure I will ever again. The recipe for the chicken larb is totally different — totally bland — where did all that beautiful spice nuance go? Where is the crunch of the roasted rice powder? Why did you mess with the perfect recipe? The drunken man noodles that are so beloved, are no longer spicy or flavorful. The high prices I used to overlook for the awesome food are no longer negligible. I am so disappointed with the food now, with the price, I do not recommend this place anymore.

Of the many Thai establishment in Chelsea many are pretenders in the realm like Chinese Mexican Taco joints. Rhong Tiam replaces another Thai restraint that once occupy the very same spot. That was one was all about fabulousness with no substance. Rhong Tiam isn’t really a Thai eatery but a hodge podge of ‘Asian’ cuisine that happens to have more Thai dishes on the menu. The interior is spacious with shared bar eating and some table tops. You order the food and then wait. We got an order of the Pad Thai and Pork on Fire with two order of jasmine rice. Welcome to Chelsea. The Pad Thai wasn’t to sweet as it usually is. The Pork on Fire sounds scary but nowhere near on fire as description. It might be for the Chelsea boys.

Oddly their prices differ if you order through Seamless vs. at the restaurant. $ 13 for green curry vegetable through Seamless and $ 15 if you order at the restaurant or if you call directly. Why is it $ 2 cheaper through Seamless? That being said, food is great. But it’s crazy overpriced for counter service as my previous review states. And again, the restaurant is filled with random junk like cheap movie props and WWE wrestling toys from 80’s. Why???

Really, really awful food. $ 29 including tip — delivered via Seamless. — 2 small fried spring rolls(tasted good, but 2??). 4 bites. — 1 vat of greasy, oily«General Tso’s Chicken», literally swimming in sauce. Not the right flavor — bad — perfect steamed broccoli, which anyone can do. WAY expensive for sub-par bad food. If I had been in the restaurant sitting down I would have sent it back, no question

Great. Ordered lemongrass soup, green curry with pork and drunk man noodle with chicken. The lemongrass soup was amazing. Not oily, not too sour, more focused on flavor composition. Pork with green curry was rich and balanced. It had cubes of pork and perfectly stewed Thai eggplant. The drunk man noodle was pretty epic. It had so much chicken you had to dig for the noodle. It was also well seasoned and not bland or oily. I know it’s weird to describe something by what it is not. But, with so many obvious pitfalls, it’s nice to see something done right. The emphasis is on organic /grass fed. They also seem to want to give you a lot of meat for the price. It was great. Total cost was about $ 32. A bit pricey for take away but worth it. I try eating in next time.
