I have the advantage of living in the neighborhood, so it’s very practical for me. But whether I compare it to other stores I buy from or as an isolated case, this wine and spirits store is a lot of fun to walk into. You feel it’s a family business run by its owners. The space is big, displays are generous, explanations about the wines are clear and any additional info you need is available. The owners and staff know their business. The atmosphere is nice, relaxing, especially when background classical music is playing. It perfectly matches the theme of the store. I particularly appreciate the wintery Thanksgiving-Christmas-New Year’s atmosphere. It feels like a warm, relaxing moment that you want to prolong. But mostly, wait till you get into one of they’re wine tasting late afternoons that occur on a rather regular basis. Real connoisseurs will walk you through the history, the vintage, the wine process of each wine they’re proposing to you. Great for sales, but also lots of fun and enjoyable. I highly recommend this place. Great if you’re a neighbor and worth the walk if your not.

I love this place! Great selection, reasonable rates, very friendly staff, and a great space. I came here looking for a nice white wine for a dinner date, and Bob helped me pick out something perfect. The staff is very knowledgable about wine and extremely helpful. They’ve also got a great liquor selection. Oh, and they deliver too!

This store is pathetic… really … they are rude and truly don’t know their stock… I hate to go into a store and have someone be rude to me and other customers… boo on them. There are so many good wine and spirits stores in our«hood… Also the selection is pretty ordinary… Keep walking…

If you live in the neighborhood, you know that we’re not lacking in wine shops. However, sometimes there is simply a desperation with which you need a particular bottle of wine, and you do not want to go far. In that case, Renaissance is the place for you. The store, unlike what Google Maps says, is actually at 67th Street and Freedom Place(which is the street between West End Avenue and Riverside Boulevard in that area.) Renaissance has a pleasant interior that looks like the tasting room of a typical Napa winery with wooden beams and counters. They have a nice selection of moderately-priced wines. They get points for carrying a number of Gruner Veltliners, but then lost points for not being able to tell me the difference between any of them. The staff is not particularly knowledgeable about their products, but the selection is good and the prices are decent for the neighborhood. This is not going to be your end-all-be-all wine purchasing experience, but it’ll do in a pinch.
