The food here isn’t bad, but it isn’t great either. And for what it is, it’s rather overpriced. Still, it’s the only Chinese restaurant that I trust in the area, so when I have a craving for noodles I will still fork out the money. Their chicken lollipops are really, really good too! I’ve never sat inside since I usually get takeout, but everyone seems rather nice and the girl in the back at the bar who handles takeout is very courteous and friendly.

I’m giving this place 2 stars only because the food was good. But I had the worst experience here. My friends cousin was waiting for us to join her. We walked in and the receptionist told us they were closing. We let her know we were meeting someone at a table. My friend passed through and as I followed behind this woman(receptionist) poked/pushed me back on my arm and told me, «we’re closed». I was in shock. I told her you, you don’t need to touch me and I let her know that she hurt me. It actually did hurt. I will never go back to this place even though the food was good. The worst part was when she walked over to apologize, the apology was very insincere and fake. Btw it’s the Asian/white chick on the front with dark hair. Oh wait it gets better… There was a tall white man, maybe the manager, poke/pushed an employee the same way, the receptionist did to me. Lead by example. This place may have great chefs but the employees need an attitude adjustment.

Liked this place very much. Pros– very different menu with some really excellent, unique dishes. Wait staff was great(as were the bartenders) and helpful in describing the menu. Cons– expensive for even the most high-end Chinese/Asian cuisine. Also, the seating policy is good for no one but the restaurant itself. Was told that we were in the waitlist and that our table would be available at 730pm. Got a text at 715pm saying we had 5mins to get there– got to place at 725pm and gave the table away. Didn’t sit until 830pm in a cramped booth. With that said, I would still recommend RedFarm. Crispy Beef and Pastrami egg rolls are a must along with soup dumplings. We had smoked chicken and salmon entrees which were excellent. BBQ fried rice was my favorite. In summary– expensive, hip with some great food. Worth the headache

I came in with my whole family, including my over-80 grandma who was up in NY for the weekend. They sat the 6 of us at an empty communal table, and preemptively made two of us including my grandma squeeze together at the head of the table. Their explanation was that this is typical for a party of 6 at the communal table, but through a conversation we realized they were punishing us for having my sister show up literally 2 minutes after we were seated. Soon, as we put our order in and the communal table still wasn’t full, they allowed us to move down two seats so that everyone had their own spot. Not exactly an auspicious start to the meal. As for the food, this was my second time here, and I continue to be underwhelmed and won’t push to go back. You can find as inventive and tasty dim sum in MANY other places in the city which are much less expensive. Save your money and your dim sum night out for Chinatown or downtown.

I see why at 5:00 this place is packed. The food was unforgettable and I can not wait to come back to try more! Also, for fellow pregnant woman… there’s more than just water and soda on the drink menu, something I love since I can’t have my usual glass of vino! Based on reviews we had to order the Katz’s Pastrami Egg Roll and the Pacman Shrimp Dumplings. Loved the gradual heat from the egg roll, and who doesn’t love an egg roll honestly. The shumai was such a fun presentation and I’m glad there was plenty of filling rather than an empty pouch of dough. Suggested by the server we ordered the Crispy Oxtail Dumplings and thank you for that… It might have been my favorite of the four appetizers actually. Last, off the dinner special, we received two Black Truffle Chicken Soup Dumplings. If you don’t know how to eat a soup dumpling, don’t order it. However, I urge you to learn how in Flushing and return so you don’t waste the delicious broth! Wish this was an everyday item(hint hint). The main we shared the Thai Curry with Shrimp and Mussels as well as something off the specials, Clams with Black Bean Sauce. If you like coconut and spicy, go for the curry. Both were good but in truth, I would probably come here and stick to ordering a bunch of appetizers and dim sum next time… And there will be a next time! Redfarm was busy and moving yet when you were eating it was just you, your company and your food. The service was quick but not rushed, the server was very well informed and helpful. I honestly can’t think of any negatives. My dad lives 2 blocks away so I’ll see all next dad/daughter day!

Tasty plates that pack a whole lot of flavor. The dishes: –Spicy crispy beef — one of my fav dishes for lunch. Beef was really fresh, cooked well and had the perfect amount of spice to it. Could eat a whole bowl of this easily. –Shrimp stuffed jalepeno poppers — they actually stuck and entire peeled shrimp into the jalepeno! Good flavors but nothing too exciting to this dish. — Shrimp and mango fried wontons — nice and crispy with fresh shrimp in here. Good flavors, but the mango was the highlight of this dish — Crunchy vegetable and peanut dumplings — fresh veggies held within a perfectly shaped dumpling. The peanut sauce was spectacular and I would buy that off the shelf in a supermarket. — Wide ride noodles with BBQ duck — the duck was expertly BBQ’d with a really great smokey flavor to it. The noodles were cooked perfectly and not oily at all! Really enjoyed all the dishes that we sampled here and would defo come again to try more! Service was friendly and attentive.

Great food, but definitely on the pricier side for what you get. Dumplings are amazing though, and it’s definitely one of the more original places in this area. If you’re more than 2 in your party however, prepare to be seated uncomfortably close together…

Had a wonder dinner tonight at your restaurant. I really don’t write many reviews and I’m not going to write one now. Just wanted to say that we had a large variety of foods, the appetizers, dim sum, entrees and deserts and all were delicious and beautifully presented. Thank you.

Fantastic food and experience, with perhaps one exception — our foppish waiter, who [awkwardly] used words like — get this — «penultimately». LOL. Rest of the staff was terrific; drinks were tremendously tasty, albeit small and $$; and the food — the food — from Pac Man dumplings to BBQ Beef Fried Rice — was a tremednous way to bring in the new year!

Nom nom nom Just came back having devoured so much delicious food I felt obligated to review this place! This was my first time here and I will definitely be back. We started off with the crispy spicy beef and needless to say that was a spectacular grand entrance! Everything about it is sheer perfection; flavor, texture, and presentation. An absolute crowd pleaser. We continued with the duck lettuce wraps. Great combination of ingredients and always fun to put together. Then came the pastrami egg roll, again meat was delicious and juicy, egg roll crunchy and full of flavor, definitely two thumbs up. Jalapeños stuffed with shrimp were next, again no disappointment there, mildly spicy and crunchy. Last of the appetizers were the pac man dumplings, simply delicious. For our main course we decided to go with the udon short rib, noodles were perfectly cooked, mean was flavorful and savory. Not one dish was a disappointment. TLDR — Crispy Spicy Beef is a must! Everything full of texture and flavor. Recommend getting a bunch of apps to share. Every plate was polished off clean!

I really enjoyed a brunch at Red Farm in West Village, so I decided to come to this other location. Both locations have similar and different dishes. I was really tempted to order the same dish as I had in West Village, but I decided to try something different. Cucumber thyme cooler: is sparkling water with cucumber and thyme flavor. These dishes are only available at this Upper West Side location: Three color vegetable dumplings: are made with bok choy, carrots, mushrooms and served with a soy dipping sauce. It has 4 pieces, good enough that I could eat more of them. Seared beancurd with mushrooms, zucchini an yellow squash: it’s tofu and vegetables(bamboo, fried scallions, ginger, goji berries, green and yellow zucchinis, onions, shiitake, wood ear) on a brown gravy sauce. I like the Chinese broccoli that was perfectly cooked with a nice crunch. Not enough mushrooms although. The staff are always efficient, clearing the tables. This location is bigger and has more tables. The restrooms are equipped with Japanese technology toilet, the seats are warmed. :D

Went for dinner on a Sunday night. The restaurant was very noisy and packed to the gills in very tight seating with youngish UWSers, shouting over each other to hear each other’s conversation. «Family-style» seating is really an excuse to seat strangers together, so they can pack more people in. I think the food was somewhat creative, but quite overpriced for what you are getting: basically Chinese food. They’ve taken the appetizers from your typical Chinese restaurant menu and put a «twist» on the dish, then charge you 3X what it cost for the same dish in Chinatown. The food tasted pretty good, but was somewhat formulaic, pretentious, gimmicky and not to mention –skimpy. Service was amateur and rushed(dish-snatchers hovering over the table the moment you’re halfway through your dish — I hate that!). The best part of the experience was the drink we had at the bar while waiting for a table.

One of the best meals I have had in NYC. Food was meant for sharing and I tried everything that our party of 5 ordered. I regret having run out of cell phone power because all the food was so pretty. Liked: pork chop, beef fried rice, short ribs with noodles, lobster/crab longevity noodles, and duck with wide rice noodles. They know how t do meat here! Also enjoyed the key lime pie & sorbet as well as the dense and quite decadent chocolate pudding. Jeff the manager and the whole staff were quite friendly. They accommodated separate checks since we were in NYC for business.

the shrimp-stuffed crispy chicken … 1. comes with 2 sauces, 1 sweet 1 sriracha-like spicy. 2. is topped with skin cracklings and puffed rice. 3. is fried but needs no breading. the shrimp is 1000x better, softer, more umami, more succulent than breading. have you had the roast chicken at nomad where they stuff chicken thigh with foie and truffle? that’s bs. this is the real deal. 4. is $ 32. and portion is small. but the dish is worth way more than $ 32. i am planning to dish out the $ 32 every week for at least a few months. 5. has bones, but not a lot. and these bones add so much flavor. 6. is pure magic.

Unilocalers got this 100% right because it’s 100% a 3.5. The service was great but the prices are completely unwarranted and I felt like the dishes wanted to be fun but they were a gimmick. Wraps — I hate when I eat something that I could make myself. Could have been a frozen meal for all I know. Lamb shooters– A greasy trader Joe’s potsticker with a really gnarly juice shot that you’re supposed to chase it with but the flavors in the juice were not relevant to the dumpling. Crispy beef — fried FRIED greasy beef strips, salted to hell. A step down from the Panda Express’s Beijing beef of my college years. Katz’s pastrami egg roll –again, fried fried fried. I love fried food but I think it’s too easy, especially for a place charging $ 10-$ 16 for 4 bites of food. To be honest it was pastrami with some veggies rolled in egg roll dough dipped in mustard. That’s it and that’s all. Nothing mind blowing. Again, too much salt going on. Jalapeño shrimp poppers– FRIED jalapeño with some ambiguous shrimp meat in the middle… Here’s the thing, it wasn’t inedible, but it seemed like the«shtick» is more important than the food. It looks pretty and sounds fun but it was not fusion, it was a play on PF Chang’s menu at 4x the price. Pacman dumplings — good but at $ 2 a pop they were merely good. Oxtail dumplings– again, weird flavor profile and bordering on fried carnival empanadas. Everything here was too fried.

Absolute waste of money, do not bother walking into this joint for a meal. I showed up for dinner on a Friday night hoping for mediocre food since it has an avg 3.5 star rating on Unilocal, and it didn’t even come close. I eat out often at all sorts of restaurants — hole in the walls to michelin starred — and am not the type to look at prices when picking out dishes, I order what I’m in the mood to eat and what I hope is good food. At Red Farm, ordered the following: — flavorless and unfresh sea bass(could not believe that dish cost $ 32) — saddest crabmeat noodles(worst lo mein I’ve ever had in my life, could not believe this cost $ 27 … Panda Express is 100x better) — snowpeas with garlic(this was the only edible dish, yet slightly oily for my preference) — jasmine peach ice tea(this was yummy) — yuzu lemon soda(this was yummy) Final verdict: only thing truly edible here were the drinks, save yourself misery and go to han dynasty … will never ever come back to Red Farm, even if the meal is free.

Perfect from start to finish! Can you imagine what Katz’s Deli Pastrami would taste like in a crispy fresh egg roll! Imagine no more, it exists! And the libations were touch notch.

Pricey, but worth it! This is a really fun place to come with a small group of people who love to eat. Everything is really great to share, small plates, dim sum and entrees too. Our table of 5 ordered a LOT of food, but we managed to eat almost all of it. Here’s the low down: BBQ Duck Lettuce Wraps Katz’s Pastrami Egg Roll Diced Tuna w/Crispy Noodles Pac Man Shrimp Dumplings Five Flavor Chicken Dumplings Wok Fried String Beans & Brussel Sprouts Crispy Skin Smoked Chicken w/Garlic Grilled & Marinated Rib Steak Pork Belly with Korean Rice Cake I think that’s all?! Top hits for me — Pastrami Egg Roll, Chicken Dumplings, Pork Belly, Green Beans & Brussel Sprouts, and the lettuce wraps! Everything had lots of flavor, some items spicy, but all delicious! But let’s be real, there wasn’t anything where anyone said they didn’t like the dish. We arrived at 6ish, grabbed a drink at the bar and didn’t have a problem getting seated for 5. When we left it was packed! The food came out fast, the wait staff was helpful in assisting us when deciding what to order and letting us know what we shouldn’t miss on the menu! Why 4 stars, not 5? Price & the fact that they don’t take reservations. It was also really loud in there, but that didn’t bother me.
