Nothing to me, on Ave B at least, says«old school lower east side» more then Raul Candy. This place looks like it was, and probably is, the first business to occupy the real estate it’s resides in. This Puerto Rican candy store/bodega is awesome. It screams real New York. Totally disorganized and run down, but that’s why I like it. There are always a ton of people hanging out in there, and I have no idea why? I’m pretty sure within the next few years someone will buy it up and make some yuppified store or restaurant so go get your blow-pops and candy cigs while you can!
