Came in around 12 – 1 P. M on a Friday. This restaurant is right by Washington Square Park. Service was fair and attentive when I went with my friend. The restaurant was pretty big so we got a seat right away. There were 3 of us and we got a seat right away. Prices are decent since it is right next to NYU. I got the Spicy ramen and I asked for less spicy and they agreed to change it. The ramen itself was normal size and it was flavorful. The noodles were tasty and edible the meat was tasty and the half egg was ok. They do refill drinks and they even ask if everything was ok. I have been many ramen restaurants, but I feel like this one has fair service. Overall, I will have to give the ramen 4⁄5 stars. It wasn’t mediocre and the place wasn’t busy. I would come here again. P.S: There is no wifi in this restaurant.

I tried the Kara Miso Ramen and it was the best miso ramen so far. I especially loved the way they cook the pork slices on top of the noodle. Very thick and juicy!

Still love this place. Best tsukemen and the chicken broth shio and sho-yu ramen are phenomenal. Tender pork belly, great tasting broth(not too salty, but salty enough), could do better with the quality of the ramen noodles but for their happy hour prices, daily lunch specials, attentive service, value and great tasting food — it really can’t be beat!

I had the miso tsukemen. Everything was fine until the end when I asked for スープ割り(soup-wari) which translates to adding stock soup to the dipping sauce after consumption of tsukemen(dipping noodles). To my surprise, the staff had NOKNOWLEDGE of what soup– wari is and looked at me as if I was saying something crazy. NEVERGOTHEREFORTSUKEMEN. THEYDON’T EVENKNOWTHEPROPERWAYOFHAVINGTSUKEMEN. There are two parts to tsukemen consumption; noodles and soup. I only had the first part thanks to Ramen Takumi’s unauthentic way of serving tsukemen. I’d understand if you simply don’t provide soup-wari at the end and be apologetic about it. NOTKNOWING what soup-wari is for tsukemen is like not knowing what kaedama is for ramen. TOTALLYUNACCEPTABLE.

A bit pricey considering the portions and the quality is not that great. Still I go here out of convenience and because I love bibimbap and don’t have time to go to Ktown. The ramen is very oily here which can be great if you can stomach it. Unfortunately, I can’t. The miso soup is terrible. A simple soup done wrong should be a clear signal to shy away from this place but I consider it one of those items thats just not very good. It comes free with the bibimbap.

I’m a student at NYU, so this was a go-to spot for decent ramen/sushi for me. However, I went last night and was extremely disappointed in the service I received. I ordered two appetizers for my meal. They came out quickly. They were small portions, so I ate them rather in little time. I put my plates off to the side to signify to the waiter that I was finished. No one waited on me until about 20 minutes after I was done my meal. After a few minutes without service I looked around to see what was going on. My waiter was sitting at a table at the other end of the restaurant eating and using his cellphone. There was no one around to check on me or offer me any assistance. After my server finished his meal, he came to take away my plates. I was very insulted by the lack of service that I received in my visit. While I have eaten here a few times in the past, I will never again. There are cheaper places with better service and food in the area.

Ramen Takumi is a low-key, bright-lit,(Korean-owned?) ramen shop with very decent prices and neat menu. At this point, I’m still a noodle novice, but good food should speak for itself. From the handful of experiences I’ve had so far, I’ve encountered convoluted menus built on a web of ramen and a side combinations. Takumi on the other hand unravels the Confucius by providing a simple image + description + optional add-on menu. There were at least 6 – 8 broths like a standard Shio Ramen as well as Spicy Tan-Tan and Curry flavors at ~$ 13/bowl. Don’t pass on the several $ 1 – 2 add-on options like Shrimp Tempura and yes, Taco(fried octopus). The Tan-Tan has that spicy, chicken broth that will light you up in the right way. You will meet a soft boiled egg, scallions, boy choy and a sheet of seaweed in your bowl. Overall delicious, but I was underwhelmed by the ramen noodle itself which tasted more under-cooked than it did al dente. Would I try this place again? Considering I’m on a mission to run through the best ramen joints in the city, it will be a while before I repeat locations. If you’re in the area and grubbing for noodle soup, I would however suggest you pop in.

Venue — Spacious with plenty of seating, and filled with NYU students. Ramen — Unimpressive. The miso ramen broth is salty, the vegetables are clearly from a can, and it was overall lacking. Accepts credit.

Was passing by with the gf and stopped in on a whim to fill our bellies. It worked out well as Ramen Takumi has good prices, solid Ramen, and unpretentious digs the way a Ramen place should. Both of our soups were good. You can’t go wrong with the Shio Ramen, Curry Ramen, Miso Ramen, and other standards. Service was neither overly attentive or absent – a nice medium.

I’ve walked past this place every single day since I started school at NYU my freshman year. Yet I never bothered to try it because it seemed like there weren’t that many customers every time I glanced into the window. Finally decided to give it a try today and it was pretty good. There’s a discount for NYU students, it isn’t much, but I always pay with cash so that was beneficial for me! Some of the sushi rolls are named after NYU’s locatios(Bobst Roll, Steinhardt Roll, and Stern Roll) and I thought that was pretty cute. Settled on the Bobst Roll and a curry chicken ramen. Shared this with my boyfriend and thought it was quite enough to satisfy both of us. The Bobst Roll had a lot of shredded crab meat on top with some shrimp tempura inside the actual piece. It had a nice spicy taste to it, but not too spicy. Not sure if I would get it again though, given that the price isn’t exactly favorable for 9 little pieces of sushi. The ramen was a 3⁄5. There was nothing special about it and being the picky person I am, it’s hard for me to really like ramen in restaurants unless it’s something I’ve absolutely never had before. The service here was great overall, and our waiter was very patient with our order. Might come back again on a school day.

Careful about coming here on a weekday during lunch times… There are always NYU students crowding the place and waiting to be seated. The seating itself also tries to maximize the little space in the restaurant, so there’s little room for movement. But I like how their menu has many different Japanese options, aside from just ramen. They sushi portions are actually really large and filling as there are a lot of toppings stuffed into the rolls.

Unexpectedly good ramen in Kips Bay. Gotta admit that I’ve been a ramen snob for some time and have been hitting the NYC/LA ramen circuit. Takumi, while not a player in these rarified spheres, is actually pretty reasonable. Showed up in time for happy hour and learned that ramen came either with a free order of fried dumplings or a pint of Japanese beer. Excellent, right? Ordered the shio and miso ramens. While in most tonkotsu-style cases, the shio ramen usually takes the prize, was surprised to discover that the Takumi’s miso was actually a bit better. That is, the miso contributed a sweet, savory, and nutty complexity that the rather simple shio broth lacked. Got greedy and tried to finish both bowls, and paid for the superhuman sodium intake with some mild leg edema the next morning. Unclear if they offer noodle reloads; it’s not on the menu.

The salmon roll was excellent. I got the Vegetarian miso ramen. Pretty good. The broth was delicious — a little spicy, but not too spicy. Noodles were great. Overall, tasty… very filling!

Good ramen, poor service. Their lunch menu is at a reasonable price point — not cheap, for sure, but reasonable. I ordered the curry ramen and was pleased with the rich soup stock and the smooth noodles. The soup doesn’t have the layer of grease that a lot of other ramen places tend to have, which was great, and the portion size was big enough for a hearty meal. The reason I’m taking off stars is because of the service. The waiters and waitresses were so incredibly naggy, and I just wanted to eat my ramen with my friends in peace. At multiple points during the meal, a worker came over and asked if we were done and if they could clean up our food(obviously pretty full bowls) and our table. No, we were just taking a short break from our eating to chat a bit. Is that not allowed? We didn’t even stay long, and we had dropped by at around 3PM, when the shop wasn’t that busy and around half the tables were open. tl;dr: good ramen, nice ambience, but staff pesters you to leave before you’re even done. (Also, if you’re an NYU student, you can get 10% off if you pay in cash — just a heads-up.)

Whoa. This place got me to write dig up my Unilocal account, just for the review. This place is amazeballs. Located right outside of Washington Square Park, Ramen Takumi has an unassuming curb appeal, but oh baby, once you’re inside… we’ll get excited. I ordered the Ramen Set A: a choice of an appetizer(think: gyoza, shumai, curry, oyako-don) and a huge helping of hot ramen, for $ 16.50. I thought it might’ve been a little pricey, but when it came out, I immediately swallowed those thoughts(and the food). Six, I repeat SIX gyoza. And a huge bowl of ramen with an adequate amount of pork perfectly cooked and seasoned. The flavors were all there and the service wasn’t half bad either. Overall extremely please and will definitely stop by again. You should too.

Amongst the ramen joints around NYU, this place is clearly the best one in the Washington park area. The ramen is cooked well and the noodles have a nice texture to them, chewy and true to how ramen is cooked in Japan. Their soup stock is rich and tasty, and their lunch set menu are reasonably price but not exactly cheap. Their rich and tasty ramen are the best item on the menus. The other side dishes I ordered tasted average but it’s not that bad. Despite being a Japanese restaurant, don’t expect Japanese grade service. It’s not to say that the service is bad but it just ain’t that good.

*** Assortment of Ramen Dishes, Great Atmosphere, Located near NYU *** This is my go-to spot since it’s a convenient location for me. I usually always order their ramen. The ramen here is very hearty and you get a decent portion of ramen. Their sushi rolls are also really good. If you’re a student at NYU, you can get a 10% discount off your bill; you must pay cash to receive this discount. The service here is very fast since a lot of people that come by are college students.

Come here if you’re craving ramen and in the area and too lazy to go anywhere else. Otherwise, go someplace else. Super average ramen. I got the miso ramen. The noodles are good and chewy. The broth isn’t too greasy like some ramen places. But the flavor of the ramen is average. It’s located in a convenient spot, especially for NYU students. Prices are okay. 10% discount for NYU students if you pay in cash I got the green tea mochi bc I was craving some ice cream afterwards. It was definitely old/stale. It was hard, not soft and chewy. I would not return bc there are lots of tastier ramen places for the same prices. Also the service wasn’t too great. I left the place with the waitress giving me a b*tchy look…

This ramen broke my heart. I had the tan-tan men which came highly recommended. I wanted to like it, but unfortunately there was a disconnect between price and quality that just didn’t do it for me. The Ramen wasn’t evenly cooked throughout the dish — some noodles were overlooked others were under. To make matters worse, the meat used… The part of the dish that makes it the kind of ramen it is– tasted cheap/low grade. And this was a sentiment I found not only in the Tan-tan men, but also in the other ramen dishes as well. Overall, I realize the only thing I liked about this particular dish was the stock. And not because it was particularly well made, but because it was spicy enough to distract away from what lacked in the rest of the dish. In the end, the quality does not merit the price here unfortunately.
