This is a Lounge so I give them a pass on not having a great selection of food. The food we did order was good though. We ordered the poutine, steak, and hot dog sliders. Service was good. Very kind. My fiancé and I were celebrating our anniversary with a nice bottle of champagne. Drinking is great here. If there is any reason to come here… View is really Amazing. It was our first night of our NYC trip and what’s better than enjoying food and drinks with an amazing view of New York Times Square!

Fun place to see Times Square inside and high up. It is very expensive. We went there for hot chocolate and snacks. The waitress was wonderful even though she was very busy.

Location: Right back by the duff tim square spot. This place makes you feel that maybe NYC in a moment is belonging to you. This place is well decorated with a full bar with a bad add view. Wine: wine is not okay but with the great location and great decoration, it is bit pricy tho. I love it. This is my go-to spot if I bring my out-of-town friends.

Believe it is the third or fourth floor up in the Renaissance Hotel. Great view overlooking Times Square. Very convenient place to grab a drink and a snack, as I’ve never had a problem getting a seat. Just call ahead. Great for entertaining out of towners… At least it used to be. This used to be my hidden go to for such occasions. However, when I visited last month the menu, décor, and staff were radically changed. Previously, the vibe was upscale and trendy with comfy couches and tables. There was mood lighting and it felt like an intimate setting. The menu was light and creative. The wait staff was very professional and attentive. Now the décor has changed to long cafeteria style tables and hard chairs in an open layout, perhaps to accommodate more guests. The staff while friendly did not seem as adept or professional. And the menu seemed more like an Applebees appetizer menu. When I arrived after making a reservation for a group of 8, I asked to be seated where we would have a nice view. There is a main area facing south, directly overlooking Times Sq, with additional bars and seating on the same floor but with views away from Times Sq. They offered our group a table with a view directly facing a building and away from Times Sq. They said it was a good view. I do not think they realized that while my group were out of towners I was local and had been here several times before. I requested to be seated in the area facing Times Square which they accommodated. There was plenty of available seating so I do not know why they did not sit us in the more desirable area initially, especially since I called ahead of time. The view is amazing. However, the atmosphere, menu, and service leave a lot to be desired. If you don’t know what it was like before you may not miss it. But I am not sure I would bring guests there anymore. I was told the hotel changed the lounge about a year ago. Perhaps they’ll change it again. 3 stars for the view, otherwise 2 just for lounge itself.

I loved everything about this place. I went with some friends on a wednesday evening after an event and we were greeted by the welcoming staff on the first floor. They then directed us to the lounge as it opened at 5pm. the lounge itself has beautiful and fun décor. If you walk further towards the windows, there is a private seating area, usually for reservations. Since it was a wednesday, we didn’t make reservations but the staff was very accommodating and we sat right by the windows over looking Times Square. The menu consists of appetizers that are perfect if you’re looking to have a glass of wine, some cheese and enjoy wonderful company. Drinks were great, try the Forgettaboutit. The ambiance, crowd, décor was classy but relaxed especially in the heart of tourist central. This lounge is honestly a little gem in Times Square. I’ll definitely be back soon.

Yes, super touristy in tourist central, but… a great option for a nightcap after a Broadway show. The food? As expected, not great, but not bad either(just order a snack). But you come here for the view of crazy Times Square, neon, and the circus below. Would I return? After a show, yes!

This place was immaculate, great décor and a stunning view of Times Square. That’s the best part. We were a party of 4, and we were seated right in front of a huge glass window which was amazing. One thing that I noticed was that, on the opposite side of the table from me, 2 of the people in my party were sitting on 2 different chairs and they were both at much different heights. One person complained that his chair didn’t have a back to it, and he wasn’t very comfortable. Strange. Also, our waiter didn’t speak very good English. Anyway, we ordered 4 snacks and shared them among each other. Margarita flatbreads, spinach/artichoke dip, pretzel sticks with Dijon mustard dip, and cheesy waffle fries. They were all very good but our tables favorite was the spinach/artichoke dip. I must add that we were only given 3 pretzel sticks even though we were clearly a party of 4. They really couldn’t just stick an extra piece of bread on there? We were clearly going to spend a good amount of money. Whatever. Now onto the drinks. Only myself and 1 other person ordered drinks. We each ordered a Manhattan Henge which was cold, strong and delicious. Definitely recommend the Manhattan Henge. All 4 of us ordered the Hangar Steak for our«Bites»(this place doesn’t have entrees, so they call it «bites») which was pretty sizable and filled us all up, especially after our Snacks. The steak was just okay — a little chewy, and it was definitely chilly, border lining on cold actually. One person in my party sent back his steak because it was undercooked. They took it back no problem. We ordered 2 glasses of Merlot with our steak — ITWASWARM! Cold steak and warm wine? What? Seems kinda backwards to me. We got there about 9pm. The majority of the crowd seemed to be 40+. We are all 20-somethings so we felt we stuck out a little bit. So all in all, this place is just okay. Great for the views, not the best for food. I would probably come here again just for a drink or two, maybe share the artichoke/spinach dip with a friend of we were feeling a little peckish, post-shopping in the city or something like that. I wish I had the experience(s) that some other reviewers are ranting and raving about. Oh well.

Gotta be one of the best views of Times Square! Took 2 of my friends from out of town here for happy hour, and we all loved it. Cocktails are around $ 15, and beer is around $ 8…a little pricey, but worth it for the view. For such an amazing location, it didn’t get crowded until 5:30 ish. We got there around 4, and we were able to walk right in and sit at a table right next to the windows. I would definitely recommend getting a drink here if you’re feeling touristy!

I love this place! Good for a drink after work to overlook the busy Times Square from a quiet place.

There isn’t a place as magical in all of Times Square as this R Lounge! This little golden nugget among the pebbles provides for one of the best views and tastiest meals you could ask ever request at a reasonable price. Let me start by saying, I feel like it a well-kept secret. Being in the Marriott hotel, it isn’t exactly«on the beaten path» so to speak. The view is simply stunning and can be slowly absorbed while dining on a large selection of menu items from wraps, appetizers, main course items, or even just enjoying a sweet treat and cup of coffee. The lobby outside of the lounge is large and is also very well groomed and a great place to rest away from the city hustle. Bathrooms are very clean and open to the public of course. The hosts and wait staff are very well-mannered and professional which adds to the spectacular 180 degree view of the city. Tonight was a time for visiting family and me to catch up over a sweet treat(I had the NY cheesecake with fresh fruit) and a cup of coffee. Although at 10 pm they only had regular coffee available, strange for the late hour but not unacceptable for the city that never sleeps, I was not dissatisfied with the quality or quantity of either menu item I ordered. There is no rush after the meal by the waitstaff to get you out of the space. In fact, they encourage you to say and socialize while they attend to your dinning needs. This is certainly a place I have been before and will continue to patronize as long as they exist. I very much enjoy the modern atmosphere, astonishing city view, comfort of the lounge and tasty meal that only the R Lounge can provide! Great job everyone!

The view is stunning of Times Square. We requested a table with a view, and they gave us the best seat in the house! Four of us ordered decaf coffees(it was 10pm) and we were told they didn’t have any brewed. We were left wondering why they couldn’t brew a new pot when at least four people ordered it. The restaurant was packed, not about to close. We came for a post Broadway show dessert, but there were only two on the menu– a chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream and ny cheesecake. These were good, not great, but that’s to be expected… people come here for the view and locale. I can’t comment on entrees, though the menu is more extensive for main courses than desserts.

Excellent view of Times Square. My boyfriend and I were looking for a good place to get steak without crazy prices. Found this on Unilocal and ended up being right by our hotel… hotel Edison next to the W. Food was decent. Paid $ 65 for a ny steak dinner and Cesar dinner salad which we shared. And a glass of wine. Lounge like atmosphere with cool ambience. People dressed nicer than the local bar but I was fine with dress and flip flops. Staff was friendly.

This is definitely worth a visit, whether you are visiting from out of town or a local. The reason for that is the views of Times Square after sunset with the ambience and photo opportunities that comes with that view. However, make sure you get a front window seat and don’t visit just for the food and drinks or you may be disappointed. The waiters need a lot of training, but the staff management was great and looked after us, thank you.

Found myself in the middle of Time Square very hungry and found this place. I didn’t want anything fancy, and a burger at the moment sounded amazing and amazing it was. well okay, the burger was juicy. The kind of juicy that is contained within the patty and not gushing all over your hand when you’re eating it. The view is right above time square where the red steps are. You can look down and see and the people waving hello to the big screen!

The our lounge is just beautiful. The view overlooks time square with floor-to-ceiling windows. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Their servers are very kind and helpful. The appetizers are above average fare for bar food. The prices are reasonable. We ordered French onion soup and it was served hot and it was well seasoned. We also got three mini hamburger sliders and they were cooked to the correct temperature and the meet was hand Made grilled patty of good quality beef. We also got a grilled cheese Panini served with french fries which we would order again. All in all it was a good experience.

Definitely a great place to meet friends. Located in the Renaissance hotel right by the tip of time square with great views and great service, it’s a dining experience one would not want to miss! Took my friends from Japan here to eat and to catch up. Great atmosphere, the dark settings and artistic center pieces really brings this lounge into life. It’s a small place and we had called ahead, told that the advance seatings were out but we can always do walkin. Literally had no wait time and they gave us a table by the windows. No matter where you sit you will always have a great view of time square at night or day. Food was delicious, very nicely prepared in large portions. Prices are just right. Drinks were amazing. Staff are intuned to your requests. Will definitely come back again!

Beautiful romantic views of Times Square without the noise and tourists. Food is overpriced like a simple pasta dish $ 22 overpriced. Or 8 $ for a hot chocolate overpriced. I think it’s a place to go to at least once in your life. Then you’re good for ever.

Location, Location, Location. This is the best view of Times Square hands down. The lounge is very small, maybe about 15 tables total. The 5 star rating is for the view and ambiance. The food was horrible and the staff did not speak English very good. But even with all that, the view and ambiance is worth it to have a few drinks and relax.

R Lounge is located on the 2nd floor of the Renaissance Hotel in Times Square. I came here on a Thursday night, and surprisingly, it was very quiet. I liked the fact that it was away from all the noise that is Times Square. You also get a nice view of all the craziness going on down below. The décor is very classy and cozy. The food and drinks are good, but a little too expensive. I tried the Fried Rock Shrimps and the Philly Cheesesteak Sliders, and liked both, but at $ 16 each for appetizers, I think that’s a bit much. I also tried a couple of their drinks which I thought were ok. The Porton Citrus Punch was a little too strong, but I did like the Strawberry Caipiroska. I’d definitely go back here for the view when I’m tired of dealing with the crowds at the other nearby restaurants, but will probably just stay away from eating much.
