The owner is unbelievably rude and combative. The workers there were super nice but he tried to charge me $ 10 to fix frames where I got them done for free at most places. After they were in the process of getting done. I told him that I didn’t appreciate the way he was talking to me and he continued to berate me. He threw my tip I gave the worker for NOT doing my glasses on the ground. Unbelievable. The worker there seemed to empathize with me, like he’s just one of those guys.

I have to put out the good word on Harry and 92nd st eye quality optical! I met Harry at the flea market, where I fell in love with a pair of Gianni Versace sunglasses and a paid of Woodstock frames. He expertly checked my old eyeglasses and grabbed my prescription and guaranteed me that he would have my glasses ready for me mid week. He called me on a Wednesday and invited me to pick hh&m up. Sadly, the GWB was closed due to a deadly accident, so I had to wait a day to pick them up. But when I was able to pick them up, I was very pleased! Prescription was spot on for both frames! Will do business again and recommend doing business with this store!

I just reviewed«Specs For Less» and it wouldn’t be fair if I didn’t review«Quality Optics» as it’s run by a friend of mine, Harry, on the north side of 92nd Street btwn 3rd& Lex. A LARGE selection of frames, but you must bring in your perscription from your eye exam and they will install the glass inside the frames you select. Harry also runs a Flea market on Sundays at 77th St and Columbus. The prices are very good. I just get a little nervous when glasses aren’t priced so I can see them as I shop, as pricing seems so arbitrary. However, I’ve never left Quality Optics after a purchase without feeling satisfied that I got a good deal!

In response to the owner’s comment to my previous review(posted 6÷12÷13): 1. First of all, I find it hilarious that he talks about wanting to deal with complaints, and yet is only deigning to respond to my review OVERTWOYEARS after it was posted. Then, having no idea of who I am or what my story was, he makes up a bunch of facts to suit himself. All of which are false. So here are the true facts: 2. My husband and I both walked into the store, found frames we liked and ordered glasses. After picking up the completed glasses, both of us found that we could not get used to them. I’ve been wearing glasses every waking moment since I was 8 years old, have never had it take more than a few days to adjust, and my husband didn’t even have a new prescription. So we went back in to the store, and told the woman who was working there that we were having problems and could she please check that everything was ok. Her reaction was very negative — defensive and abrupt. She took both our glasses, went into the back, came back out and told us that they were fine. And yet neither of us felt fine. But since we got no help at 92nd St Eye, we were at a loss. So again, Harry’s assertion that they would appropriately deal with our complaints? LIE. 3. The story Harry concocts about my eye doctor covering his ass to make up for giving me a wrong prescription? LIE. I had a written prescription from an opthamologist, which was what the folks at 92nd St Eye had to make my glasses. Several months after the debacle at this store, I went to a new eye doctor. During that exam, I pulled out the glasses 92nd St Eye had made for me and asked them to check the prescription. They read the prescription from the glasses and wrote it down. Then I pulled out the original scrip from my previous opthamologist, which was still in my wallet. As I said in my original review, both lenses were highly incorrect, like over .5 difference. The new doctor had no skin in the game, no reason to lie, and even if he did, I didn’t show the written prescription until after they had written down the numbers from my glasses. And my husband’s prescription was read from his old glasses by the person at 92nd St Eye, so there’s no one to blame there. 4. Oddly enough, on the same day Harry comments on my review(6÷12÷13), a 3rd positive review is posted by a member who has only one review, and wait for it… joined Unilocal in June 2013. Coincidence? I call foul. Sorry, Harry. You can make up whatever details you want to make the story sound better, but it doesn’t change the fact that you sold me crap and didn’t stand by it.
