Really love the brunch here! Make a reservation and come hungry, I’ve never had a bad meal and I love their bloody Mary’s! This French toast with Brie was amazing– perfect size to share!

I’ve been here twice. The first time was back in September when my boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place while walking the highline. Second time was today with two friends. Came here for brunch both times. They have an unlimited drinks deal during brunch which my friends and I took advantage of. You can order different flavored mimosas, margaritas, bloody Mary’s. The waiter kept the drinks coming which was great. We definitely got our money worth of drinks. As an appetizer, we ordered the tuna nachos. This is basically a tuna tartare in nacho form. Pretty amazing. As a meal, I ordered the brunch pizza. This is topped with chorizo, avocado, sunny side up egg and much more. Soooooo tasty.

Came to this spot for an afternoon brunch(2pm) with some friends. Location is great in Chelsea and we were seated pretty quickly. The décor is nice and I like the huge table in the middle of the room where you can eat family style. Our group ordered the nutella stuffed French toast, one of the salads and the Smoked Salmon Club. All the food was really good and reasonably priced. This place would get 4 stars if it wasn’t for the heating situation. To be fair, I’m not sure if they control the heating or if the building does… but the day I was there it was freezing and no heat! It made it uncomfortable and we weren’t able to enjoy the place as much when we’re freezing waiting for our food. I’ll give this place another try, hopefully it was an issue with the building and not something they control.

Sweetest little spot to grab brunch and drinks with friends. Presentation of food was almost as delicious as it tasted. Definitely will be going back next time I’m in the city!

Stopped in for an impromptu brunch with a friend on Sunday, the day after Christmas. I made the server aware of my gluten sensitivity(migraines, etc) and he took care to convey that to the kitchen. They subbed my toast for a salad and did whatever needed to be done to prevent cross-contamination. I got a Greek omelette and side salad. The salad was fresh and crisp, perfectly dressed. My omelette was a decent brunch portion, fluffy, and loaded with feta and spinach. I didn’t finish either. My friend got eggs, hash and steak. All were prepared to his liking. Outdoor seating was available(on December 26, wtf, weather?) but we sat inside. It might be fun to sit out sometime and I bet they are packed in summer. The waiter came back to offer us refills and again to offer to bring the check so good service. We stuck to coffee and the tab was under $ 50. We would come back.

Food: 3.5 stars for food, I ordered the Brie and fig jam stuffed French toast with a side of bacon(extra crispy)… I liked the combo of cheese and fruit. Had to send the bacon back for some more time on the stove, it was rubbery when it first came out. Friends got burger and breakfast pizza(the fav). We all ordered the bottomless drinks($ 28)… Different types of mimosas were fun to try(white peach, mango, passion fruit) Service: I was disappointed in the service, I understand it was a busy Sunday brunch… But our waiter didn’t check in often, we had to ask for the drink refills and he gave us the bill before we were done. A side of jalapeño ginger ketchup was missing from my friends burger and after asking for it we had to flag down the bus boy for assistance Ambience: loved the ambience, very modern and classy… Night lighting and clean

This place is really overrated and really expensive. I came here on my lunch break from work for the gourmet hot dogs everyone was raving about and they were just okay. They are served as if they can be taken to go, but are extremely messy and barely fit into the to go container they are served in, that you really need to be sitting down with a fork and knife to eat them. The service was pretty slow and we waited almost 15 minutes just to get three hot dogs, because they are prepared individually and slowly by one lone worker. I haven’t gone inside or really sat at the bar, so maybe this is a bit uneducated of a review, but the to go service didn’t really leave anything to the imagination and I have no reason to go back inside. The prices are also so expensive. I could never afford to eat there regularly.

I had to update my prior review because thangs changed. This place had a cool ambiance and a wide variety of appetizers and unique burgers on their menu. That was a year ago. Now, the place I left raving about its burgers changed up their menu. With only 2 burgers to choose from and a very short and expensive menu, it’s difficult to enjoy. Wine by the glass is $ 12 minimum, there is one vegetarian option, and expect to pay at least $ 20 for each item on the menu. Really bummed, and I won’t be back. :/

«Pound Some Brunch» I was invited here for brunch and I do have to say that it may become my new brunch spot on the west side. They have an unlimited brunch special(what is the point of brunch without an excessive amount of cocktails) for 25 bucks. Our waiter was very prompt in keeping out drinks full. He also made great modifications and suggestions for the various mimosas, as I am not a fan of too, too sweet drinks. I would highly recommend the passion fruit mimosa. Like the mimosas the food was pretty delicious but I forgot what I ordered :(Sorry, too many mimosas but I remember the word, «hole», was somewhere in the name. One reason why I subtracted a star is that the hostess was a little rude when checking in. I totally understand why many restaurants have a the rule that the entire party must be at the restaurant before it is seated BBBBUUUUUTTTTT, I was meeting ONE other person there. So, I really did not see the reason why I had to wait at the bar for him. Just sayin’

Brunch is one of the most important meals of the week — especially to New Yorkers. I found P&O awhile ago through my trusty Unilocal App when I was searching for a boozy brunch. I hadn’t been to a new brunch place in awhile and I was happy to get out of my neighborhood. So for the past few months, my boyfriend and I walk over a mile to earn our brunch and drink the afternoon away. From a distance, the P&O signage looks retro and appears to be just another a trendy brunch spot to sit outside and people watch with a fizzy glass of white peach mimosa in hand. However, this is not necessarily true. Although trendy and cool, P&O is unique in it’s own right. When you step in, there are high ceilings, glass, wood and marble modern décor along with two massive flower vases towering over you. The front of the venue has a few high tables by the windows and stools and little tables cozied up to the walls. in between that, there is a long, wavy middle area that is actually a long table for parties for 8 or more(beware, though, it may be uncomfortable for long periods of time as the seats have no back). Further back, there is a sort of coffee house set-up — i.e. leather couches with low glass tables — and über comfy booth seating. I’ve sat in the back before and for those who like a view while being inside, have no fear. If you’re facing one way, you’re staring at an utterly bizarre but fun canvas painting or if facing the other way, a really chic venue and views of fairly handsome waiters… While mulling over the menu’s, I always notice how loud the music is. I don’t have to shout to have a conversation with my boyfriend but, I do speak just a tad louder than normal. After we’re done looking we order our favorites: Power Breakfast Bowl(hello, diet!) and Guava & Cream Cheese challah french toast. The PBB involves farm fresh scrambled eggs, quinoa, avocado(sauce!), onion, cherry tomatoes and zucchini in a baked tortilla bowl on a bed of greens. The G&CC french toast is guava and cream cheese stuffed french toast with a sprinkle of candied ginger on top and(delicious as F_CK) dark rum syrup drizzled everywhere. At times, we share a thing(bowl, cup??) of french fries. We tried the truffle fries once and they were pretty good while the boy thought they were pretty meh. To spice things up this past weekend, we ordered this and got our hands on their Cholula sauce! Honestly the servings are really good but too good in the sense that we never have the room to ever consider dessert. Of course, I fully intend to devour the lavender sandwiches or cast iron coffee cake one day whenever I have the room. For the dranks, we always get the $ 28 white peach mimosas. Now, the unlimited booze situation is interesting. They offer unlimited house vodka, mimosas(three flavors plus regular), and bloody mary’s(duh) for $ 28 per person. The catch? Your table has to stick with ONETHING. I swear this is one of the reasons I deducted a star. It’s really not fair. It forces me to do the whole«be nice and do something for your SO/spouse» etc because once the boy wanted passion fruit and I wanted white peach. The PF turned out to be so meh and reminded me of some mothers attempt to make a boozy brunch über healthy. Also, I noticed one time that we were actually drinking from a pitcher. I do not know if they have several pitchers on stand-by — which would totally make sense — but, our waiter said«here, finish it off» as in «here, finish your unlimited boozy pitcher». The pitcher didn’t seem too large so, I hoped that wasn’t what I was spending my $ 28 on. As we wrap up brunch, we’re always full, happy and pleased with the service. Once when we received the check we don’t even have our wallets our before a waiter informs us that his time is up, he’s leaving and the only way for him to get tipped was by tipping in cash ONLY. This isn’t an overall rule for the restaurant but it seemed to tell me two things. One: the waiters may not get tipped properly at all for their shifts. Two: they won’t get tipped at all if we don’t have cash. I have to be honest and say I felt a bit of pressure. That should not be the way I end my brunch. Of course, this only happened once and so far has not happened again. If your wallet is happy, you’re hungry and love yourself some unlimited booze in a cool area/venue — then head on over to P&O!

We’ve come to this beautiful restaurant in Chelsea many times in the past. We’ve never had a bad meal nor sub-par service. The open layout is sun filled with an upscale, casual vibe. We actually enjoy this establishment so much we came for our 1 year Anniversary! Enough about that — We know you just want the deetz on the food: Skip to present day– Pounds and Ounces offers unique spins on American style cuisine and also offers some fun eclectic dishes as well. Chef Margaret LaVetty has completely nailed a terrific menu that offers fun, unique tapas and entrees that you can’t find anywhere else, like Waffle Battered Chicken Pops! We ordered a bunch of tapas thinking they would be small and«the more the merrier.» We were incorrect. The plates were substantial and filling — we had a seriously great tasting spread!

Pounds and Ounces in the heart of Chelsea serves a modern American fare from Breakfast, Brunch to Dinner. The Interior Art Deco is very conspicuous and not to be missed. I love the long metal communal dining table right in the middle of the restaurant and the long wooded bar serves wide variety of cocktail concoctions. The ambiance is both hip and youthful. I was very impressed that the background music did not interfere with our conversation. We shared a Crispy Calamari Salad, it was crispy calamari with toasted frisée, radicchio with miso-lime dressing while I ordered Benny-In-A-Hole from their Summer Brunch menu, it was a toast Brioche with sunny side eggs, hollandaise with smoky paprika hash brown. It went well with the side order of Applewood smoked Bacon. It was very filling, delicious and good value. It was my second time here and it did not disappoint. With its great location and awesome customer service, I will definitely keep on coming back!

Great service!!! We stopped by for brunch spontaneously one Saturday afternoon and we were in sort of a rush. Food arrived promptly after we placed the order. I ordered the benny in a hole, which were eggs benedict with a side of hash browns, and my husband had the Nutella french toast. The eggs benedict were great, though the side of hash browns were cold. As for my husband’s french toast, he really enjoyed it. Since we were in a rush, we could not enjoy the bottomless mimosas, which would have been nice. Our waitress was great and attentive. And our water glasses were constantly refilled.

I came here on a whim when my friend came to visit for the weekend. We were out shopping when I Unilocaled«brunch» in Chelsea. This place popped up and it didn’t seem busy so we decided to try it. Since my experience was so great the first time, I re-visited 3 or 4 times thereafter. Service: 5 stars. Our server was excellent. He was extremely patient with my friend and I as we kept going back and forth between our decisions. We had a million questions about every dish(my friend has gluten allergy) and I’m so thankful he had the answer to every single one of them. He was quick, attentive, and really patient. Food: 4 stars. The food here is delicious, but not the best. I recommend the Banana & Nutella French Toast, the California Breakfast Burrito(although coming from southern CA, it’s nothing close to a *real* CA burrito), or the Steak and Eggs if you find yourself hungover or extremely hungry. I’ve had good experiences with all of these menu items. I did not, however, like the Guava & Cream Cheese French Toast or the Breakfast Burger they offer. Drinks: 3.5 stars. They have a $ 25 bottomless mimosa option for 1.5 hours which is actually a really good deal. However, their drinks were really weak and tasted watered down. I was even that annoying girl that sent her drink back because it tasted awful and I think the server came back with the same one :(The cucumber lemonade was really good though. Good flavor, but could be a little stronger. If you’re in the neighborhood and looking for a good place to enjoy a brunch, try this place out. Warning: I noticed their music was a little loud so just keep that in mind :)

Came here for Saturday brunch. After checking out previous Unilocal reviews i was pretty excited for the food. Imagine my disappointment when reviewing the menu it didn’t have any of the items mentioned in other Unilocal reviews… Come to find out a new chef started here 2 months ago and changed the whole menu. Server insisted everything was still very tasty and couldn’t go wrong with whatever I chose. I ended up ordering a burger, the wasabi fried onion sounded intriguing. Our group of nine all did the bottomless drinks for $ 25, the server was on point making sure we all constantly had some kind of brunch bev on hand. They had like 5 diff mimosa flavors, the peach and passion fruit were group faves. Food comes out, my burger looked massive! Some ppl ordered the frittatas and they were so small and disappointing looking! Like if that was my meal I’d probably have to go get some more food after lol. In regards to taste there was nothing that special about the burger, the bun was dry and it desperately needed some kind of sauce. Frittatas were meh, my one friend who got the Greek lobster frittata did love it. If I was to come back here it would be for the excellent service on the bottomless drinks, not for the mediocre food. Not sure the new chefs menu is up to par vs. old menu.

This review is strictly for the bar experience. Pounds & Ounces was one of the stops on my Cocktail Passport crawl. The décor, lighting and vibe had us as soon as we walked in. Right in the middle is an oval curved marble table which catches your eye. We sat at the bar and immediately we were attended to by William the bartender. That was a BIG plus factor considering it wasnt empty in the place. I cannot stand to have to wait forever to order a drink. Moscow Mule and Tom Collins were our drink of choice. They were on point! My friend and I both said they were one of the best we have had. William put a lil love in them. LOL He informed us that P&O has a boozy brunch with a dj on the weekends. We immediately set a date in our calendar! :)

I had brunch here on a rainy morning but as soon as I entered, I forgot how nasty it was outside. I waited at the bar until all my friends have arrived. As I was sitting there checking out the menu and the drinks, I can’t help but to get really excited. My party started our unlimited boozy brunch right away. We didn’t care which drink we wanted, we just want them all, lol. I had asked the server if any other menu was available during brunch but unfortunately there wasn’t. I wanted to have the brunch’s unlimited cocktails and some of their items on their dinner menu but I just couldn’t have the best of both worlds. The drinks were strong in a good way, you won’t taste it but it will sneak up on you. I love the wide range of flavored mimosas they give you, try them all! It was my first time trying bloody mary, it tasted like food! I enjoyed it before my meal but after real food, I’d have to pass on the drink. Screwdrivers were exactly how screwdrivers should taste. The food was mediocre so the 4 stars is for how it tastes after X amount of drinks, the attentive staff, and how fast our drinks came. Our server looked like Adam Levine and it wasn’t because of the alcohol! This place has a very chic vibe and the ambience and atmosphere is made for talking and laughing over a couple of drinks with your friends. The food … Ahi Tuna Nachos — One of their signature items and I assumed it used to come in the taco form, very very skimp amount of tuna, and I would’ve enjoyed it more if I didn’t hate wasabi so much. Waffle Battered Pops — for $ 16 you only get three drumstick looking«pop», the batter was so delicately thing and gives off a really nice crunch, the guava bbq sauce though was bomb!, the watermelon and cucumber salad was good but I’m not sure about how well it pairs with the chicken. Truffle Fries — truffle, garlic, the type of potato fries that’ll get cold real quick. My friend really enjoyed it but I had better truffle fries elsewhere. Crispy Chicken Benedict — nothing special really. It was the closest thing to fried chicken and waffles. You can’t go wrong with eggs but the crispy chicken was very ordinary to me. The side of home fries it came with was left untouched. My friends enjoyed their burger, croissant breakfast sandwich and banana waffle but I’ll pass on those too. They really liked it though. I really wanted to try some items that other Unilocalers had mention such as the sweet potato tots, salmon egg benedict, mac and cheese croquettes, nutella french toast, asparagus fries but they weren’t on the menu. The menu changes too often. I wouldn’t go back here to dine but if my friends would like to come back for drinks, I’m down.

The backdrop: Late afternoon JAN. 9th, 2015. I had just finished up a grueling BIOLOGY lab final in nearby Touro College and i was famished. Luckily, my wife had met me in the city and she was as hungry as I am. We were in heart of the Flatiron district and I have been wanting to visit Pounds & Ounces for a while now. I had purchased a groupon for the establishment about a month prior. Were on 6th and 23st, so we decided to make the trek to P&O on 8th and 18st. Initially, a welcoming task, until the bitter chill of the New York climate ravaged upon us. It was like an invisible polar bear was traveling alongside side us and breathing Absolute Kelvin weather upon us. We were bundled like Eskimos and still felt the chill in our periosteum. However, despite the weather, walking around the Flatiron/Chelsea area around 3pm on a Friday afternoon, was still great. I saw numerous places i wanted to dine at such as Grimaldi’s and Aromino. Definitely want to check out the«authentic antique» spot dubbed Authentiques. Might stop by David Bartons Gym where the the old rave club Avalon used to be. As we arrived at our destination @ Pounds and Ounces, it really surprised me as a whole. The layout is very modern and upscale. The bar is stretched out very long and can sit 15 – 20 ppl. And here I thought it was gonna be a regular burger joint/pub. Place was low lit and empty, as they just opened up at 3pm for late lunch and dinner. We were seated immediately and perused the menu while simultaneously enjoying the artwork on the walls, of which i snapped a few pictures of. As wet sat and looked at the meu, our gracious and awesome server, Austiin, explained the terms and conditions of the groupon menu. Basically, one appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and anything over the amount, we pay the difference. After looking at the entire emu of choices, I decided to get the Manhattanite cocktail. It was lightly chilled, with a peel of orange composed of jack daniels. Now, the food. The appetizer selection chosen ad recommended by Austin was the soy ginger chicken wings. Sounds delicious, right ?? Thats b/c it was !!! 6 pieces of big wings dipped in soy ginger glase. A few were a bit salty for my wifes taste but i readily enjoyed them. Now come the burgers and oo my were they gigantic burgers. My order: «The P(&)Ounder» — Double burger(cooked medium) — avocado, lettuce, tomato — chipotle mayo, chipotle ketchup on a Brioche bun. side order of Truffle Fires(a must try) Wifey had: «Classic Angus Beef Burger» — Double burger 8 oz of certified angus beef — lettuce, tomato, — thousand island dressing also on a brioche bun. The pictures don’t do it justice. The burgers /food were off the wall!!! and the portion was huge, even for a double burger. I got real classy and started to eat with a fork and knife hahaha. The afternoon did not stop there. We even opted for dessert. Being it my 6 month wedding anniversary, we ordered the Chocolate MoFo and I had the server, Austin, put a candle in it and announce it to the surprise of my wife(who totally forgot) Who said chivalry and romanticism was dead ?? The cuisine, the décor and the intimate atmosphere made for an amazing afternoon lunch in the city and a great way to celebrate our 6 months. Thank you to the staff of Pounds and Ounces and our server. I appreciate the hard work. Will definitely return, with a bigger crowd of friends!

Place is nice and fancy, but overnosy, and service is really average. Food is ok, if you like is greasy. Well, not the best place in the neighbourhood !
