As a venue for fashion week it’s great, but if you’re eating here I’d highly recommend not. Bland and over price. I got huevos rancheros and it was two poached eggs on three tostadas and is priced at $ 14, wish I just ordered an ice coffee, that’s all I’d suggest but even that is served in a small wine glass that’s probably going to cost me $ 5.

The baristas here are very nice and very accommodating; I’ve seen them accommodate some interesting requests! The head barista is especially kind and hospitable with my studio’s demands.

Pier 59 is a nice set of studios with a nice staff. I have photographed here a half dozen times. I recommend it for any productions with a nice big budget. It is also great if you have large objects to photograph, like a car. The space is beautiful, and 5 stars for the facilities themselves. But it is very pricey. I am only giving them 3 stars because they are caught in this trend of New York studios to charge you extra for everything. All those add ons really drive up the price substantially. I hope they got rid of this one now, but I think 3 years ago, I had a $ 25 fee for the land line telephone we of course didn’t use! Also beware that you may still have to order food from their kitchen, which often costs hundreds of dollars more than if you splurged at any restaurant. I think you could easily find your $ 2000 studio rental turning into $ 4000.

The new chef is great, the food has improved tremendously and you definitely should give it a try.
