Fabulous place to see a concert! Saw third eye blind here a few months ago and now counting crows! I absolutely loved it. You’re on the water with a great view. Can’t go wrong?

Nice area to walk around, see people running, and get some fresh air. I come around this Pier and other Piers around the Hudson River Park all the time. I will recommend coming.

This is an adorable, modest park that is in the middle of the chaos that is the West Side Highway and 10th Avenue. Despite the cars everywhere, this park manages to block all of that out and keep in the zen. It’s a small space, but there is a decent sized lawn where people scatter to capture the suns last Summer rays or read a book. There were also little colorful cubes on the lawn that I’m not sure if they were there just because or to be used as tables or seats. My friends and I initially came here to eat outside and were all happy to note that this place wasn’t terribly crowded. There were lots of tables to choose from and two random foosball tables! Amazing!

This summer 2013 Popup space seemed to be winding down during my late August visit, but fortunately Takumi Taco was still around so I went with their $ 5 veggie taco, which was excellent. I did expect more food, but I guess the reinvention/evolution could/should mean more than the current shipping containers+ping pong+good tunes+picnic tables on the Hudson, none of which are too shabby.

Big fan. What a great multipurpose space with lots of personality and potential. Great stop along the Hudson. Walk your bike in, grab some food from the pop-up container shops, grab a picnic table or play some ping pong on the water. Even the restroom is decent and clean. I love it.

The beau and I were querying what to do on a Sunday afternoon. After much, «…uhhhh…I don’t know… uhhhh…hmmmmm…», I just said«High Line!» Off we went to hail a cab downtown from his place. The driver took us down the West Side Highway; as I lazily looked out the window as he made his approach to 10th and 14th, I spotted the Van Leeuwen ice cream truck parked under a shady awning… and cute little pop-up shops housed in old shipping containers… and ping pong tables! What WAS this place? We made the driver stop there instead, and off we went to explore this new found discovery. Small food and shoe vendors, painted floors, loud music, a stage, the aforementioned ping pong tables, and a few picnic tables overlooking the Hudson: That’s Pier 57. I almost didn’t want to go to the High Line after finding this…

Before yet another potentially cool space — the one that, in this case, can’t really define itself in its temporary state — disappears into the bowels of the rapidly gentrified and redeveloped New York — in this case, an upscale mall that’s set to replace it — you get to enjoy the multiple personalities of a free low-key music venue, food trucks in converted shipping containers, free ping pong — and the quirkiness of doing all that under the heavy steel of containers suspended from the ceiling. The highlights are probably picnic tables by the water(if you like the currently playing band) and the Japanese tacos from Takumi(spicy tuna is delicious, though not particularly filling for $ 6.) Cold Process coffee isn’t half bad either.
