This place this just awesome! I stopped by due to an article in the New York Lonely Planet. Philipp has all kinds of posters, ads and articles available for purchase. He is also able to search for posters in his digital library. The posters are not cheap but they are the best souvenirs I ever had! :) And… The day I visited I was Philipp’s favorite customer by buying 12 posters. :)

This place is like a veritable trip down memory lane of film and theater history — with colorful posters adorning every little bit of wall space. Just don’t come expecting to merely«pop in» for a peek. If you’ve got even a single curious bone in your body then just try and resist falling down the rabbit hole of browsing! They’ve got a little something for everyone, too — ranging from thousand-dollar treasures to bargain reproductions. The only hitch is that, despite the attempt at a categorical filing system, it’s still a bit of a treasure hunt to see what all they have. Especially with the lower-priced reproductions. For the big-ticket items you can search their handy computer system to know what all they’ve got!

Quality work but absolutely horrible service. Was told four frames would be completed in two weeks(actually too two months). When I went to pick them up — they hadn’t even started! Turns out one frame was back ordered. They never bothered to call to tell me — my paintings just sat around. Then, once I picked a substitute frame, the work was delayed again because a mat size I selected didn’t exit. The person with whom I was dealing said he would confirm that the mat size did exit! I would blame all this on an apathetic employee — but I was dealing with the owner! Finally, when I received all four pieces — two months later — one of the paintings was hung upside down… Never again. Going to try L&O next time.

wow! this place is a step back in time. simply amazing and friendly staff members. be prepare to pay high prices for these hard to find items. be weary on some items: they look like a stack of postcard provided at museums for free and are being sold for more than it is worth. otherwise, you’ve got to dig dig dig for those rare items. there are signs everywhere — don’t touch, ask for service.

Philip has the largest selection of posters in the entire world — and that’s a fact. Philip either has or can source anything you are looking for from almost any time period. And if you find something you like, he can have it framed in the highest quality

Poster and print heaven in the heart of Tribeca. If you’re around here, definitely stop by to this huge shop.

Accidentally looked into this store and was immediately intrigued. There are thousands of posters in here. Stacks on stacks on stacks. And the place is huge. Some are framed, some are not, some are older, others are for new movies that just came out. Best for browsing, but showing him a picture of what you’re looking for also helps. Walk in on one side of the store, dig and browse to your heart’s content, and exit on the other side. Perfect.

Found this place while wandering around in TriBeCa. They have posters ranging in size to tiny, magnet-sized posters all the way to wall-sized posters(it’ll cost ya). They also have cool subway signs you can also buy($ 25). I opted for a small poster($ 15) and think it was priced fairly. They have tons of options(NYC, nature, movies, old films, war posters, advertisements, propaganda — they have it all). I recommend spending some time wandering around this place if you ever find yourself close by.

One of the most amazing stores(well, probably the only NYC store I have ever been amazed by, actually) I have encountered in the city. Fabulous just to stroll around in. Certainly this is THE place to come to for incredible wall art. Vintage and foreign movie stars; popular culture; food, drinks, ships, music, military, sports, cigars, women, fashion, dance – every topic imaginable as represented through decades of international, graphic art. At gargantuan sizes. In this store, an ‘E’-sized sheet(34“x44″) is considered tiny. The owners are very friendly and encourage you to walk around ooohing and aaaahing. A refreshing experience! A visual extravaganza which blows the internet away!

I, like the Unilocalers before me wandered into this place as I was walking down Chambers on my way to somewhere else. For Jim K, it was his dentist’s office, for Eric S, he was going to dinner. I was meeting some friends at the Brooklyn Bridge, and was intrigued at what was inside the store. Tons and tons of posters … large scale and hard-to-find elsewhere … ranging from kitschy to cool. I saw everything from vintage Hello Kitty posters to nouveau French billboard prints. And every type of ornithological print imaginable! The walls were covered from top to bottom — definitely a great place to stop and browse for inspiration or that one-of-a-kind art poster for your home. One minus was the lack of help around … it seemed almost empty and void of store keepers! And the one gentleman I spotted did not bother me as I perused their offerings, maybe he thought I didn’t look like the buying type? Hmph. Yet if I happen to be in the neighborhood again, I will stop in and take a look at their aesthetic treasures!

Boy am I glad to have found this place. I cannot begin to describe my excitement as I only stumbled upon this place by accident when I was looking for my dentist office in TriBeCa a year ago. All of their collections are authentic and statements of art across all genre and time period. Some hand drawn originals, others are one of a kind collector’s value. To describe the experience, it was like an interactive art museum where you can pick and choose which collection you’d like to look into. If one particular poster interests you, simply hold it in front of your nose, take a closer look at it, and bask in its full glory. I had such a blast just skimming through their vast collections and dousing myself with the most spectacular colors around me. The posters are both familiar yet mature. And it would behoove you to make a trip down to TriBeCa and indulge yourself in such visual pampering.

I don’t often travel through Tribeca, but I passed this place on my way to dinner about a month ago one night and was immediately drawn in. Seeing the vintage posters on the wall had a very enchanting effect on me and I stepped into the store. I only had about 10 minutes to make my dinner reservations but knew I was going to come back. About a week later, I woke one Saturday to my blank covered walls and figured I was going to set out on a mission to try to go hit up every vintage poster store the city had to offer. I didn’t want something cliché’, and certainly didn’t want anything you are going to get at an all posters plus in the mall — and with this I set out with an undertaking. After visiting every store on my list of 15 stores from 125 street down — I found that: ***NOTHING, AND I MEANNOTHINGCOMPAREDTOTHISSTORE*** From original German Expressionism to handcrafted woodblock African tribe prints, this place has the most amazing original variety I have ever seen. I spent two hours browsing through all of the gems here and even came across original wallpaper from Union Square from 1913. The beauty is that there rarely are two of the same prints, which leaves you feeling you will have something on your wall far different than the mass produced artwork that you usually see in people homes. This place is truly sui generis, with the added bonus that you feel like you’re in a museum or art gallery with the prices of everything fluctuating earnestly enough where you are not paying gallery prices. They also do framing which is an added bonus. Even if you are not in the market to buy I would highly suggest at least going in and browsing. Just parsing through the posters here makes you feel like your going to find some long lost treasure that the world has forgotten about. I’m truly in love with this place

If you ever need a focal point or something to make a statement on your wall, Philip Williams Posters is the place to go. Philip Williams Posters is not an Aaron Brothers, Michaels, or Z Gallerie. It’s really something special, some place unique. It’s the largest vintage poster gallery in the world. At Philip Williams Posters, you can get custom framing, a print for your wall, postcards and collectibles. Most importantly, you can find some very rare artwork at Philip Williams. This is the place to go if you admire advertising from another era, posters of clowns and chefs eating pasta, spolights on culture and travel, and if a huge burst of color is what you really want, then you can find that as well too at Philip Williams. One key thing to note is that the posters at Philip Williams are not just your average movie sized posters. There are quite a few, if not 80% of the inventory, that are wall sized. These are larger than life and can cost as little as $ 1,000 to anywhere in the upper thousands. There is a look don’t touch policy here. Shopping at Philip Williams is kind of like shopping for a rug. There are stacks of them and the sales people will pull each one out for you and hold them up until you decide whether or not it fits your motif. As a customer, I’m not exactly in the market or ideal demographic yet to purchase a poster but its definitely something right up my alley. As a spectator, I really admire what Philip Williams has to offer. I think that if you are in lower Manhattan, you should definitely stop by the shop. It’s an art experience and an ode to year’s past.
