I have worked with Paul for a while now and the results have been nothing short of remarkable, even life changing. To the uninitiated, Rolfing may sound strange but think of it as loosening the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles & connects them to your bones & joints — so that your muscles & nerves have the freedom to work within your body the way they were supposed to. A friend recommended I go to see Paul to get some relief for the pain in my neck & right arm & hand especially while working out. I went through the standard series of 10 sessions. Not only did it alleviate this pain and meaningfully improve my range of motion, but it also freed up other areas of my body that I considered to be simply so chronically tight(my low back, IT band, hamstrings) that I’d just have to live with it if I wanted to remain active. Thanks to Paul’s expertise and persistence, I am now able to exercise without pain and in fact with better form and better results.(I’ve even got definition in my arms where I never had it before.) So often I think we resign ourselves to living with painful or a restricted movement and so when these roadblocks are removed, it really does change your state of mind. I have now recommended Paul to a number of friends and family and there are two anecdotes worth mentioning. A friend had been in an accident whereby she lost the use of her arm due to a nerve being compressed in her neck. Her arm was basically dead weight but she could still wiggle her fingers. She did 6 weeks of physical therapy & they gave her a ridiculously long timeframe for when she might expect to get the full use and range of motion of her arm back. After only her second 1– hour session with Paul, she was able to do a bicep curl. And after a few more sessions, she had the full use of her arm back. The second anecdote involves my 70– year old mother who became utterly unable to walk on her own after pain along her sciatic nerve became progressively worse over a 4-day period. The pain was so debilitating we had to hire 24⁄7 home care to help her with every single activity of daily living while I took two weeks off of work to take her to appointment after appointment with osteopaths, neurologists, pain management doctors, diagnostic radiologists &5 MRIs. None of these could definitively identify the problem; they just kept giving her narcotic pain killers. I became increasingly suspicious that her pain was rooted in some kind of soft tissue injury that could be dramatically helped with the skilled hands of a Rolfer. I finally convinced my mom to see Paul(what did she have to lose?). He was gentle with my mom given her delicate frame, but extremely effective. After a single one-hour session with him, she got up from the table and took her first unassisted steps in a month. In short, if you’re experiencing pain, restricted range of motion or recovering from an injury, I highly recommend seeing Paul. He is a truly gifted miracle-worker!

Paul is a miracle healer. I found his contact through Unilocal and decided to give it a shot with little expectation. I had a chronicle shoulder and neck pain for the past 5 years from sitting in the office for extended period of times. I have seen numerous chiropractors and physical therapists but nobody could relieve the pain. I could not believe that Paul«fixed» my neck and shoulder in 6 sessions! It was amazing to feel my body free of pain. I am like a new person. Thank you Paul!

This guy wasn’t so nice on the phone; seemed like my calling was a nuisance to him. I wouldn’t go here after getting a not-good vibe on the phone.

I am an Acting student going through second year at AADA. For many years I have been plagued by shoulder, neck and chest tension due to my time spent in the military. As you can imagine, I had great difficulty adjusting to the demands of being an actor where relaxation is essential to the work. It was my Voice/Speech teacher who suggested that Rolfing would probably benefit me in every aspect of my growth. I knew little about it so I did some research and came across Paul. His studio was only a couple blocks from the conservatory so I figured I would go in for one session and see what it’s all the fuss is about. I am now on my 9th session with Paul and I can honestly say that it was worth every penny and minute of my time. He meticulously evaluates the your progress every step of the way to see what changes are occurring and fixes what needs fixing and leaves what doesn’t alone. The benefits of the 10 series are numerous. Besides the overall sense of well being and sensation of finally feeling comfortable in my own body, my voice is more resonant and full, my balance and alignment is superior, and my strength and flexibility have increased tremendously. Looking back on it now, I honestly believe that the 10 series should be a prerequisite before undergoing any formal actor training. The only way to fully absorb the skills that are being taught is to show up on day one with a body that’s open and fully engaged. Luckily for me it wasn’t too late and I am now a better artist thanks to Paul.

I’ve long had horrible posture. It was one of those things that I wanted to improve but had no how to work on it. «Standing up straight and relax your shoulders» was an inadequate prescription given how tight parts of my body were. After going through the ten sessions with Paul, my posture was noticeably improved. What ultimately pleased me the most was that it has helped my running. Not only do I feel more open in my movements, but after these sessions I dropped a few minutes off my personal best race times.

Disclaimer, Paul Feinberg is my dad, but I’d like to review him anyway. Not only has Paul’s body work helped me, it has helped me in numerous occasions for different reasons. Growing up as an athlete running track, playing basketball, jumping hurdles, bike riding, etc. I’m someone who has had tight muscles for quite some time, often causing joint pain, lower back pain, and neck/shoulder pain. Over the years, Paul has worked on me both in sporadic sessions and also through more structured repetitive sessions. Not only did his work relieve pain, he has helped re-align my body and after sessions has typically made me feel an inch or two taller. Parts of my body that I did not even realize were being affected my tight muscles, stress, or wearing high heels, he would point out to me in a holistic approach that I believe has had both immediate and long term benefits. In addition, I turned to Paul for help after going through a very intense, invasive surgery on my right arm. After spending 2 weeks in the hospital following the surgery and with no movement in my arm, my muscles had become atrophied and quite weak. Paul worked on my arm when my wound was still open(but bandaged) and afterward as well. The work done while my arm was still healing helped me in my shoulder, neck and back, which had all been effected due to the surgery. Once healed, Paul was able to supplement my physical therapy, which was priceless. Due to the scar tissue build up and loss of strength, I was having difficulties writing, typing, and was in general pain. Paul was able to rolf my arm and shoulder areas, while remaining very responsive to the amount of pressure I could handle around the scar area and in general. I am certain that without his help and if I had not gone through the sessions at this critical time, I would not have equal strength in both arms as I do now, and I would not have full mobility of the arm on which I was operated. Even today, when I am in New York City, I make it a point to schedule a rolfing session with Paul, as the immediate and long term effects from his work I have not been able to find elsewhere. For intense body pain, post-surgery work, or for those who deal with the daily stresses of life, I highly recommend Paul Feinberg to rolf you.
