A deli that has FREE wifi, awesome deli food, turkish specialties, abundant seating, and helpful employees? Had a lovely brunch experience, if you’re a student in the area this is a necessary stop. You can set up shop for the day with no attitude – in fact they encourage it!

I don’t live right in the neighborhood of Park West Café & Deli, so I’ve paid no attention to its qualities as a local convenience store. What I LOVE about this place is their assortment of fresh, homemade foods, among them terrific Turkish salads and entrees. YUMMY!!! And at a reasonable price, to boot. The owners/staff are welcoming and kind, and if the place isn’t too busy they’re happy to converse. You can take out the food, or use one of the handful of tables in the back room. The dining area is far from fancy — it’s a simple place, but if you’ve ever been anywhere in the middle east, you’ll recognize it immediately as comfortable and homey. Also, look around for some treats from Turkey, including candies and bags of Caykur loose tea(good stuff!).

I love this Deli. Food is good, staff is friendly and prices are good for NYC. I stop here every time I can when I’m in NYC. Their sandwiches are delicious.

Small Deli, didn’t think much of it, I was trying to find something to eat to accommodate my crazy diet. Attendant was very nice, actually they were all very nice. He suggested I get the Turkish lentil balls, and so I did, he topped it with a lemon sauce, I also got a couple of stuffed grape leaves, and boy it was delicious. Definitely going back for more.

Stopped to buy a couple of bottles of water while walking through Central Park, but the proprietor was so completely engaging and friendly that we ended up sitting for a quick meal. It’s not fancy by any means, but the food and drinks are very good and reasonably priced — and the friendly and attentive service by the proud owners can’t be beat.

We stopped in to pick up lunch and we were greatly impressed with the friendliness that the two brothers showed to us. The food was great –I had the veggie special sandwich that is built around a zucchini pancake. It is a small establishment but it has a charm that we appreciated.

Worst«Grilled Chicken Salad» I’ve ever had. Felt like I was sitting in somebody’s trailer park kitchen. I’ve seen bigger bathrooms in RVs. My sister was hoping for a NYC deli sandwich. Pathetic is all I can say. Don’t believe any positive reviews for this place.

I use to think that this was the ONLY closest shop next to my hotel. the ASTOR, so i kept on coming here because I thought that everywhere else was too far. Boy was I mistaken. The two brothers are very nice and hospitable. You can tell they are really good people. However, half the things for sale there have dust on them and are expired! Its very cramped in there and not well kept. In the right hands this place could be turned into such an amazing place. I usually sat in the café area to eat my food which is usually cramped with tourists that were like me and think that this is the CLOSEST place to the hotel. It felt like every 5 minutes one of the brothers would come by and ask if i wanted anything else like more mayo? Or a side of fries? A beer? I literally just sat down for ten minutes. As far as the food, it seems that they do a lot of re-heating. hmmmm There’s also turkish hooligans that hang out at the entrance. I recommend that if you’re staying at the ASTOR to pass this place and literally walk 2 more blocks to 110th st and turn left [3 more min to walk] CENTRALMARKET is there with all the necessities needed. 110th is a very safe street, you can even walk it to riverside dr. I’m sorry. I know how nice the turkish brothers are but, I feel that they are relying on the fact that nice unknowing tourists come to their place always and feel like they don’t have to clean or do some upkeep on the shop. Its 2014 not 1995

My wife and I stayed at a hotel up the street and this was our«regular» deli for a week. They specialize in Turkish food, including classic dishes, imported Ülker junk food(Turkey’s equivalent of Nabisco) and Efes beer. We got take out from here one night; it was pretty good. Stopped in for snacks several times. Staff was very friendly. OK beer selection for a small shop, but no wine. Prices were reasonable(compared to other groceries and delis in the area). The staff speak good english(which is not a given in New York delis). If you don’t see what you are looking for, ask; they will either find it in the back or give you an honest«no».

My boyfriend and I stumbled over to this place around 7 or 8 am and they weren’t quite open yet and we were going to wait the ten minutes till the did but the owner(I think) let us sit and wait inside. He was so nice and hospitable. He was honest and courteous, I can’t say enough nice things about the guy. The food looked good too. We will definitely be back to grab a bite. It’s also the closest deli/convenience store to our hotel so that’s a plus. They had a moz & tomatoes salad that has been added to my to do list.

They are terrible. People dont speak English. We went there and they took half an hour to make 3 sandwiches when no one else was in the store(understandably). The place is in a basement and it feels disgusting in there. The food looks like its been sitting out for weeks and their one ripped up table is covered in ketchup and syrup. The people may be nice but I couldn’t understand what they were saying, and they didn’t look very clean. Enough said… NOT! Forgot to mention that the food was FUCKIN’ DISGUSTING!

Closest place to grab a coffee and other essentials near the Astor on the Park hotel. While the coffee isn’t a fancy gourmet hipster blend, the deli redeems itself with personable service and awesome prices. As I was looking for toothpaste, the owner even came up and asked if I needed help finding anything… all the while he was waiting on tables in the back(this deli has some seating in the back for those that want to eat breakfast, lunch, etc). Customer service can’t get much better than that! While I was here, I got two coffees and two bananas and one of those small toothpaste containers which ran me a total of $ 4.50. The thoughtful owner even gave me a carrier for the coffee which made it easy to carry back to the hotel. Win!

First of all, I just wanted to say, the the owner of this store is incredibly hospitable in so many ways. It was our last night in NYC, and on our way back to our apt, we ran into this deli shop that was already closed down. The door entrance was already blocked off, but I was so hungry that I decided to walk in to see if we could grab a bite. Might I add, it was probably already passed 10pm-12pm.i cant even remember it was so late… it took us a while find our way back from the city. He let us in even though he was already extremely tired, he spoke with us, asked us how our day was, and we even talked about his history and how he came to the U.S. I told him we have never had Turkish food before, and he immediately warmed up some appetizers to welcome us to his home food. He touched us very dearly, and I wanted to make sure we sent a great message out there for him. We ended up grabbing some rice and wings… and when we took it home it was absolutely delicious. THank you for our experience here, and we hope that your business grows and continues to flourish! Must try, his wife is the cook, and they work very hard to make this their American Dream.

We came for breakfast. It was served on paper plates with plastic silverware. For what you’re paying it’s fine and if you’re on vacation and on a budget then it’s a perfect place to grab food in the morning. We ordered the pancakes which were ok. Kind of like cafeteria food at a hospital. The reason I give this place a four star and not a two star for food quality is because of the service. The guys working there are so nice! It’s ridiculous how nice they were. We visited multiple times since it was next to our hotel and they were always friendly and inviting. We walked up one night without knowing they were closed but they still opened their doors for us. The prices of the smaller staples(drinks, pastries, etc) were really cheap considering they could easily jack up the price on you. Recommended for people needing convenience and cheap eats.

Great little hidden treasure. There is a little seating area that gives a cozy and hidden feeling. Great selection of food, at a very reasonable price. Staff were quite friendly and accommodating. You have to check out the restroom. I won’t say anything more…

Good enough spot w/ridiculously personable guys not just by ny standards but for humanity in general. Was staying nearby and grabbed a chicken spiced kebab, zucchini pancake & rice pudding. Really enjoyed the zucchini as definitely homeade and delicious. Probably one and done but in the event I find myself back this way I wouldn’t keep walking.

This place is the ideal discovery – very unassuming exterior. However, the deli food is delicious, stocked with very good Turkish food(the islim kebabi is delicious!) at reasonable prices. There are tables to sit and hang out, and a minimal grocery store stocked with your typical deli/grocery store, as well as a lot of things traditional to the near-east and Mediterranean. But the best part are the workers and owners. They’re from Turkey and seem to care very much about the quality of their store, and I suspect they have a broader intention with their food than just to run a business. I’ll illustrate with a story. I went there very late last night, and the owner was working. When I was browsing the deli offerings, he came to me asking what I’d like, and pointing out the different foods available, and describing them. Already he’s giving more customer service than you ever expect at a deli, right? And it’s not a hard sell – he just seems happy to inform people about Turkish food. So I order two dishes and take it to the seating area, which is pretty disheveled but has some nice paintings strung around the walls. While I’m eating and doing some work, the owner comes back and says if he’d known I was going to stay he’d have given me a plate rather than a take-out bag, and then starts up a conversation about the food, and telling me about this one dessert, Noah’s pudding. He says that the legend behind the name is that it was a dessert made by Noah in the eastern part of Turkey, where he just used whatever he could find in the area and mixed it together. It has chick peas, figs, raisins, walnuts, rice pudding, grapes, and other things mixed in – and you wouldn’t expect that mix to taste good, but it really does. He then emphasizes that, if the story is true, then it is a food from our shared history – I take it he means the shared history of Muslims, Jews, and Christians. I didn’t really want to divulge at the moment that I’m not neither Muslim, Christian, nor Jew, but I really liked the sentiment that I believe he was driving at: He seems to hope that an exchange of cultures can come from cuisine, and that foods like this can represent something we all share in. The story is perhaps a little cheesy, but I thought it was a really sweet gesture from him. So anyway, whether you like the story as much as I did, the point is that the owners really care about their food and providing great customer service – so it definitely deserves five stars. He also told me about this chicken-based dessert that they’ll start carrying in 2013, which he says you wouldn’t expect to taste good, but it’s his favorite dessert. So I’m looking forward to that.
