This was a local favorite haunt back in the day. But I can’t keep up with the name changes. Ha First note: this is a hole in the wall Chinese food joint. Prices can go from cheap to over priced if you don’t know what to order. My favorite dishes are usually the rice dishes with the meat of choice on the side. Today, as always, the crispy skin pork was very good but I think they made the portion smaller. At least the pieces were cut smaller. I don’t recall them being so stingy. I also ordered one of my all time Chinatown style comfort food dishes, which is a beef entrée with runny egg. Present company dictated we order fried dumplings and steamed ones. Both were good but the fried ones were salty. I’d recommend this place if you want cheap eats and fast. But the décor and rest of it’s charn is left to be desired.

The Dim Sum is so fresh, all of the tasted amazing and authentic down to the dough they used for pork buns and dumplings, tasted home made. Nothing was greasy, very reasonably priced and we were in and out in 15 minutes. It was amazing, and the service was great they were so kind. It was a tiny little place but they kept it really clean, they deserve 5 stars absolutely.

we were supposed to get our yum cha on… everybody jing fong tonite jing fong closed at 10pm. can you blame em when you crush it all day everyday like they do, sure trading app suggestions w/über driver while in search of dim sum on Unilocal we’re helpless smart phone addicts. majority of places closed or closing by 11pm we come across this gem on lafayette sat down at the dirty tables extracting booze breath. proceed to point at pictures of food on the wall and plates of other tables. the waitress spoke perfect english we did not at the time. she pushes cold tsingtao on us, we oblige. we open w/beef broccoli j/k. we go dumplings all of them that they offer, veggie hk noodles, duck soup and sweet sour chicken that im not joking on so yes guilty although lemon chicken first option, they no have 30 mins w/empty bowls and plates later we now overhear a trump hilary blowout from overeducated underemployed hipsters, we say check please, overtip and under the influence everybody hing huang tonite. stumble out and shout… taxi

Years ago this use to be a Wing Wong which had great roast pork and wontons. Sadly I returned to this place and discovered the change but still gave the it a try. The restaurant itself was empty(weekend afternoon). Also it was dark and old looking. I ordered a beef tendon noodle to go(broth in separate container) and it was $ 5.75 which is fair. I ordered in Cantonese which I’m sure helped. The food itself was ok. Not terrible but not great. Portion size leaning toward the small side. Looking at the menu it looks like the target demo is now tourists given the photos and English on the menu with«combination» plates. Also the dimsum looked expensive. $ 5.25 for shu Mai?

Some of the best Chinese I’ve ever had. Been here once in 2010 and just stopped in again on this trip. I brought my husband, brother and his girlfriend this time and we all had a huge appetite and ordered a lot of food. None was left afterwards… It was that delicious. Notable items ordered: Pork steamed buns(must try) Fried pork dumplings Xiao long bao Orange chicken lunch Kung pao chicken lunch Fried rice Pork lo mein Duck breast lunch Restaurant is small, service is fast, place is just outside of china town on Lafayette so slightly less hassle than a place in the heart of it all. All so good. We will all be back for sure.

I bought ½ roast duck takeout. When I got home, there were missing pieces. The duck breast pieces were clearly missing. I have been eating roast duck for well over 30 years. I know what is missing. In place, there we pieces of the neck. I know the rent is high in Manhattan but please do not cheat the customer. Will not be returning.

it’s famous for their roasted pork, chicken, congee, soup noodles. beef stew(beef stomach meat) on soup noodle, wonton & veggie r also good. dinged a star because of the place looks old and need repair. but the food actually quite cheap and tasty. about utensils on the table being not sanitary, it’s quite common setting in hong kong at dai pai dong 大排檔(like diner in america)。 we ALWAYS use the tea /water to clean or soak the utensil before we use them. y is it out there because u can take more anytime u want instead of waiting for waiter/waitress when they r swamped.

Another nice Chinatown taverna introduced to me by mandatory jury duty. Love getting here before noon, grabbing a quick lunch special(duck and rice ran under $ 6), and being on your way in 5 minutes or less. Not much in terms of décor – typical Chinatown everyday dimsum/family joint.

Congee with century egg was good. The har gao was the worst I’ve had anywhere — one very small overcooked shrimp in an incredibly tough and chewy wrapper. The shumai was ok — not the freshest, and salty. I would get the congee again but not the dim sum.

Not sure why Unilocal bounces you around with the name. It is Hing Huang Restaurant Corp. I wasn’t going to write a review but I liked the Kung Pao chicken so much, I took a picture if the storefront to remind me of the place later. Glad I did because of all the name confusion. The food I had was excellent. All the vegetables were fresh and crunchy as they should be. Properly spiced, seasoned and salted. That last one can be a killer since I don’t like overly salty food. The décor and atmosphere were typical Chinatown. But the service and food were excellent. Why four stars? They didn’t serve me(or even ask) hot tea. All the other patrons got some, but not me. Maybe its because this was my first time here and the person taking my order assumed it would be to go. Maybe you are supposed to say something? But when I asked to be seated, he told the cook it was to eat in and they served it on a plate. So why he didn’t think to ask if I wanted tea was wuite a slight in a Chinese restaurant. The second thing is that if you eat with a fork, the forks are sitting in a basket on the table. Not very sanitary. How do I know my fork wasn’t sneezed on? No wonder their letter rating was only a B. Still, a great, random meal on Chinatown. And I didn’t get sick!

Mom and I were in NYC and came to Chinatown for shopping and lunch. Found this little place on Unilocal and decided to check it out. We were able to be seated right away and got our drinks and placed our order. I find a lot of places in NYC are quick with their service so they can turn tables and keep things moving, no worries I totally appreciate that! I had chicken and vegetables lunch special which came with rice and egg drop soup. Mom got the spicy orange chicken and egg roll. We also ordered 2 extra egg rolls since I wanted one too. The egg drop soup was pretty thin and didn’t have much taste, also no crispy things to put in it like I like. Our entrees were both very good and really fresh. The egg rolls were pretty good too. Also when we left they were nice enough to fill our cups we brought in with ice and water :) I would recommend this place for sure for lunch. There seemed to be a lot of locals in here which is always a good sign to me. Prices were really reasonable too!

I’ve been coming to this great modest place for 41 years. It’s been through several changes in ownership and management but always been excellent. Great place for congee and barbecued meat on rice, some dim sum in mornings, noodle dishes. Tea always perfect. Everything here is fresh and Good. Service great, prices great. Good place for speedy service, not a place to linger.
