Their quinoa arepa with chorizo is ok. Nothing to be extremely excited about, but tasty and filling.

Most amazing arepas. I had the beef arepas they are Devine. Great area on the rockaway broadwalk amazing atmosphere in summer. The line to this place can get a little long as it’s fantastic

The food is alright but nothing amazing. Everything is premade so who knows how fresh it is, they just heat it up on a griddle. I went with the columbian connection with chorizo which I enjoyed but at over $ 30 for 2 of them and a water I’d rather eat elsewhere. I don’t think I’ll be eating here again, if overpriced areaps are your thing Palenque may be for you.

I’m not sure I’ve ever had something with a wider flavor profile than the arepa I shared here. There is so much going on. It starts with a multi-grain tortilla base(corn and quinoa are also options). Then arugula. Then beef(or another main topping). Then Oaxaca cheese. Then hogao(tomatoes with scallions and olive oil). Then chipotle mayo. And finally a viscose cilantro salsa. The flavors were great together, but it was very overwhelming for me trying to decipher the various flavors and textures. This is a dish for an experienced palate!

«Homemade» Well it’s just that it was made at home probably 2 to 3 days ago, then brought back to the store, placed upon a greasy pan and served to me. so many things I’d like to say about this place but the most important one is please do not confuse this place for Colombian food. very disappointing

I love it!!! Best organic Arepas. People are very nice and welcoming, I could even buy a package of Arepas to make my own at home. Try the ajiaco(Colombian soup), it’s soooooo delicious! Highly recommended :)

*arepa with oaxaca cheese(the arepa itself was bland and didn’t have much of anything to really offer; the arepas were all lined up on a flat top so I feel like they were probably just sitting out; I didn’t enjoy the texture of the arepa but I liked what was on top; the cheese was nice and the spicy mayo went well with it; perhaps of the arepas were fresher I would have a different impression) Found these guys at Broadway Bites. They looked good but it honestly looked better than what it tasted. I would give it another shot, maybe with some of the meats they had on their menu.

from broadway bites, beef arepa. Woman was nice, flavor was fine in terms of toppings. However, the arepa was a bit hard and not too flavorful.

I stopped by this food truck at Grand Army Plaza yesterday. Both my husband and I got the ‘gallo’ arepa(chicken), mine with cheese, his without. We waited in line for about 2 minutes and then for our food for another ten, which was not bad, considering it was a beautiful, sunny Sunday afternoon and there were tons of people there! I was a bit disappointed with the arepa — it was luke warm, bordering on cold, once we got it, and the overall taste was just ‘meh’. The chicken was a bit bland and had a lot of chewy, fatty pieces, and the cheese on mine was just thrown on and was cold. On the plus side, the chipotle mayo and the cilantro sauce were amazing, and I ended up taking off all the chicken and eating the arepa plain, with the sauces. Not worth $ 8, but what can you do. One other plus — I believe all the arepas are /can be made gluten-free. The service was incredibly friendly, and I’d be willing to try it again, but perhaps get the empanada and the yuca fries, next time. I *love* that they take credit card!

There’s always a long line for this and wanting something with a bit of a Latin flavor and protein-filled, I paid them a visit. –Lunch Special(Corn Arepa topped with white chicken, hogao(cooked tomatoes, green onions, olive oil), mushed red beans, cheese, butter, arugula, chipotle mayo and cilantro): The corn tortilla is nice and fresh and the red bean paste somewhat sweet. The chicken is cooked well and there is a good portion of it atop the corn tortilla. The salsa is nicely spiced and chipotle mayo is definitely tasty. The cheese is very creamy. I don’t really know how you are supposed to eat this though? You can’t cut through the tortilla and it’s hard to pick up and put in your mouth. FINALVERDICT: If I were in the mood for arepas I would go again, but the wait is a bit long for the price and deliciousness of the food.

For $ 12: Caliente Arepa & one cheese empanada. The empanada — soft to the point I don’t think it was cooked properly. It came with a lot of side sauces, but it didn’t save the meal. The arepa — a good kick with the spice, and some nice sauce, but not worth the $ 9 for it, sausages were just okay. Maybe I’m spoiled from the food trucks of Elmhurst, but this was lackluster.

I work on Hudson and they are always parked out front from 1−3pm and finally gave them a try. So glad I did! Service: the lady in the front is patient and I have always seen her smiling. The cooks are also pleasant. Waited maybe 5minutes tops. Food: I ordered the Toro(Angus Beef) with the Brown Rice + Flax Seed arepa. and yucca fries(just in case I was still hungry afterwards). The meat is cooked perfectly well done, and the pesto adds a nice kick to it. The arepa was tough to cut with the plastic knife so I just used my hands. but I don’t really mind that. The yucca fries were overdone, and kind of tasteless. But the accompanied sauce has a medium heat level that is perfect with the crunch. Total cost: $ 13, which is pretty standard in the area(unfortunately). (+): They take card!(usually) I would try again! But would probably skip the yucca fries

Big fan of the quinoa arepa topped with beef, and stoked that they make regular stops in Dumbo! Have to agree with another reviewer — you do need a sturdy(real) knife to cut through it properly. The yuka fries were phenomenal, and I couldn’t get enough of the chipotle mayo. Also loved the columbian iced-tea lemonade! I’d really love it if the truck had paper bags. I had too much to carry and tipped the container over — it’s a good thing it all stayed in the box.

Really yummy vegan options. Loved the yucca arepa with soy chorizo, arugula, chipotle mayo, stewed tomato and cilantro sauce. Deeeeelish! Very warm nice woman working the truck. Downside: yes, as other reviewers mentioned its pricey. $ 9 for something not much more substantial than a slice of pizza(but way yummier and made with more love). Would give it 5 stars if they were 100% veg though

The corn arepa was difficult to cut with the plastic knife and the beef was too chewy. If you’re bringing it back to the office, find a stronger knife and know that the colder toppings will render it lukewarm. Take some cilantro sauce to go. Both the cheese and beef empanadas were tasty but I wouldn’t get them often at $ 3 each. The yuca fries were excellent and had a chipotle mayo for dipping. The ginger lemonade is also very tasty, though it’s a bit pricey. They take debit/credit cards via Square, which is a huge plus, but they charge tax.

Man… I really… really wanted to like Palenque. Not bad food… but I have some gripes… First — really friendly/warm woman that takes orders(assuming one of the owners) — and I adore the truck. its gorgeous… * I think this is the first food truck I’ve eaten from that charges tax… I could be wrong — but I think just about every food truck I’ve eaten from… it its $ 5 bucks… its $ 5 bucks… not $ 5.23. or $ 3.07…is there a way that other trucks have worked their tax into their prices? if so. I think that would be a better choice… *Food! — Had the Corn Arepa. with Beef… paid the extra $ 1 for the tomato/scallion mixture aka Hogao… also went with 2 Yucca Empanadas — 1 beef. — 1 cheese. After watching my coworker suffer last time — trying to eat her arepa with the very flimsy cutlery provided — I knew to bring mine back to the desk — and use the heavier cutlery we keep in our pantry… — and even with that… it was very hard to cut through the arepa… so I just ended up tearing it with my fingers and using my fork for the toppings… I like piping hot food… and my food ended up being cold/room temperature ish… ughh… — Beef was tender. needed some salt… and even with all of the toppings. I found it all to be bland… nothing popped. or struck me… *Yucca Empanadas — Beef was good… Cheese one — mehh. it wasn’t melted at all. so it was just a big hunk in the middle… but Yucca was mashed to a very smooth consistency… fried lightly… not oily. I would get the Beef one again… I have had their yucca fries before — which are great… especially with the chipotle mayo… But I really wanted to love their main stars — the arepas. but in the end — it just fell flat for me. NOTSOLD.

My first time at this truck. I have had Arepas before but these Arepas blew me away. I had the beef which was succulent and the arepa was mouthwateringly good. I will make this a regular stop. The crew on the truck were so nice. Please patronize these hard working folks.

Meh. I HAVE experienced better. I was super excited when I passed this truck parked outside 4 World Financial Center. Score… or so I thought. AREPAS. I love AREPAS, especially when the first Arepa that I’ve ever had belonged to the Arepa lady in Jackson Heights. My excitement builds as I waited in line… anxiously waiting. I ended up ordering a Corn Arepa with Portobello Mushrooms. The actual Corn Arepa was more of a corn tortilla… and it fell apart on me! The actual«tortilla» tasted burnt on the bottom and was tough. I ate about half of the corn«tortilla» and then basically ate toppings(portobello mushroom and cheese) separately with a fork. There really wasn’t any flavor; all I tasted was butter… and lots and lots of butter. Next time I want an Arepa, I’m headed over to the Arepa lady. Nothing else beats it!
