Paddles NYC

I attended a lecture here. I didn’t know that i had to go down into a basement. It wasn’t bad, the lecture started before they open their doors for their parties.
Paddles is an BDSM dungeon for kinky people who like to play with their partners.
Their was a person who gave some instructions on how to behave in their club, no cameras or phones. I wouldn’t say it was not clean but i wouldn’t walk around without my socks.
I probably would go back but not when they have their parties, only when they have lectures and munches.

I give Paddles 4 stars for being one of the places that I know of its kind in the area. I’d HIGHLY recommend only going when they are having an event. This place definitely has some pros and cons…
This is a great place for those who would like to have events such as TNG night and the demos they have can be fantastic for learning something new such as knife play and fire play.
They have A LOT of great play stations such as a spanking bench, cross, cage, ropes for suspension and bondage, hooks on the wall with ankle and wrist cuffs, a chair with cuffs, and a lot of different nooks and crannies to get away from the crowd and have your scene.
They also have a non-​alcoholic bar, and they rent out toys such as floggers for the evening if you don’t bring your own. I’ve been there many times, and was only disappointed by a few things…
But before I tell you those, I’d say that I’ve met lifelong friends here, and that people are very open minded and friendly, especially if you go on a night that an event is taking place.
Paddles attracts a lot of single men, and while this is not always bad, the potential is there for men who will kill the vibe and your scene. They have a very bad habit of making their voyeuristic tendencies way too known. I once had a desperate man follow me around to each of my scenes and wouldn’t stop staring and had no social skills. He made me uncomfortable. He asked me to spank him, and I said no. He then proceeded to ask more than 3 more times and I told him to leave, which he did.
Another con is that this place just feels dirty. It can really use a thorough scrub down because it is kind of dank.
Other than that, it is a really great place for meeting people in the BDSM community who can «show you the ropes» so to speak. Don’t be afraid of getting involved! I would recommend this place for everyone with these types of interests, it is a pretty great dungeon. The best part about it is the amount of play stations and options they have. It’s pretty big and a lot to do!

I came here expecting kink, paddles, and fun, but This experience was CREEPY, humiliating, and sad. I felt like I was sitting in a gas chamber straight from Auschwitz, except the inmates are all having unprotected sex. There are no speakers inside the dungeon, so you only hear muffled music coming from outside. it is very awkward and CREEPY to say the least. What’s worse is that the staff made me feel very unwelcome. I was just a reticent, 21 year piece of fresh twink to them so they tried to get me to fist a stranger so that I would loosen up. They then tried to make me feel better by offering me a free water bottle (regularly priced at $ 3) but I definitely will never return. This place gives kink a bad rap. You’re better off going literally anywhere. I hope if you read this, you will not live my experience in this dismal excuse for a BDSM dungeon.

Paddles oh Paddles. What to say about Paddles. Are ya kidding?! What can I not say about a BDSM dungeon in good old New York City where dreams are made! Haha!
Okay so first let me open on a very positive note saying that this club is so very judgement free zone (This ain’t no planet fitness though!) It’s a great accepting safe place with people who are all flying their freak flag!
The trade off for an underground club like this in a bumbling city? A city that never sleeps? You really do get all kids of people! So now I know your probably saying «well uh– hayyyy ain’t that the point!?» Yeah sure whatever… until you get the old man trying to get you to spank him while he’s wearing a Hawaiian t shirt or the just-​turned-​legal to get into the club type of kid who is wearing Jordan’s and just staring and giggling.
I really would like this place a lot better if they had some sort of dress code!
Thankfully from what I could gather the joint looks pretty sanitary. And NO this is not a sex club! There is actually no sex allowed! It is strictly for play which I very much enjoy because sometimes I just wanna let off a little steam without causing some steam! Yowza!
Another strict enforced rule at this place is that they don’t serve booze. I also very much like this because we all know that one person and it’s all fun and games until you have someone slurring their words and trying to ask to flog them… things can get weird!
When you walk in you will certainly get an eyeful with the very *ahem* breathtaking mural on the wall! The rest of the place is painted black… everywhere. I would certainly enjoy some dark purple or red instead of the typical. Also the lighting situation could chill out a bit. Plain white? Really? I think a black light section would be cool and if your gonna stick with the black walls maybe some blue/​red?
This is a fun place to go for people of all curiosity levels. They have events some nights with a small stage, one night it may be about exotic dancing and the other it may be about the proper use of toys. Great place to get your foot in the door if you are curious about crossing over from the vanilla world.
All in all this is a great club to go you if you are curious to cross out of your vanilla comfort zone or if you are already a level 10 pro in the scene. It’s a very accepting club and hey, there’s not many places like this around! So why not– check it out!

Paddles is a great place especially for beginners. I have seen attractive people attend the events. Let me say this, the fetish community is probably the least shallow community. It’s about experience and having fun. They are the most accepting and least superficial people. The décor is cool, the people are friendly. It’s worth checking out. If you want to ensure attractiveness than bring your own play partners. Arrive with no expectations and you will be fine.

It’s nice that this place exists – even if the décor and music are really cheesy. There are lots of decent stations for variously private and public play, and they lend from their (quite small) library of floggers for free, which is certainly friendly.
I have few big concerns though – and I hope the Paddles folk are reading, because these things they might be able to fix.
1.) There is no posted code of behavior or guidelines, and there is no orientation. They assume everyone’s on the same page in terms of etiquette, safety, and communication, when it’s quite clear that they’re not. I gathered that some folks wandering around were employees on patrol, but I couldn’t tell by looking at them, and it’s really important that if someone needs help in an emergency that they know who to go to.
2.) There are a lot of sad, creepy, horny guys walking around. They might not be bad human beings, but the clueless, indiscriminate, and pushy way that some of them approach women really kills the vibe.
3.) I’d love some assurance that the floggers and equipment are cleaned between uses. Are they?

How good Paddles is or isn’t depends enormously on what night you’re there for. Personally, I recommend only attending the nights hosted by NYC-​TNG, assuming you fall within the age range to attend. Three reasons: TNG replaces the normally atrocious and distracting porn on the TV screens with cartoons, there are far fewer creepers interrupting or crowding your scenes, and the price structure is gender neutral (i.e. $ 17/​person rather than something much higher for men and much lower for women).
As for the space, it is odd. Lots of black light, a hilariously un-​sexy mural, and a fair amount of good dungeon furniture. The play spaces vary from very out in the open to fairly hidden and, at least on TNG nights, there is usually plenty of space to swing a flogger.
Extra points for being one of the very few spaces of its kind in the city other than private lofts.

Absolutely pitiful. 90% of the people are obese or very unattractive in other ways. The management is inconsiderate and the slave auction they had last night was an utter joke. Rather pathetic individuals being «auctioned» off, and the scenes afterwards except for an occasional one or two were equally pathetic. Maybe this is the kind of place you’re happy to attend for something different, if you’re completely new to the alternative lifestyle. My gf and I will wait for a new scene to crop up or will play in private. BTW, their photo here is a joke — good luck trying to find THAT kind of body tied up at THIS place.

Paddles is a pretty cool fetish club to go to, at least on certain events nights like the slave auction, you can see some people getting spanked or flogged which is cool, they sell paddles canes and other toys,
They also have demos which I haven’t been to yet, and a buffet if your hungry for more then a spanking :) (food that is) on more active event nights it’s Definatley worth checking out

I can’t speak for the hetero themed nights, as I went to a men’s only event at Paddles on a Wednesday night, but I certainly enjoyed myself.
For the uninitiated, the facility is a sexually themed ‘dungeon’ — an appropriately decorated basement in the chelsea area of nyc. There are all variety of S&M paraphernalia scattered throughout many dark corners. There is also a bar that serves snacks and non-​alcoholic drinks.
Friday and Saturday evenings seem to be reserved for their mixed parties (men and women), and throughout the week they have events for men only.
It wasn’t particularly crowded when I was there, but there was still a fair amount of activity — as most men there were in the middle of various, uh, acts.
The dress code is underwear or less, and the crowd seemed very low attitude and down to earth. People were either participating or watching, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. And the staff was pleasant and friendly.
My only complaint was the price — $ 25 to get in ($ 20 before 9pm), plus a mandatory $ 2 clothes check. That’s a little pricey, but considering you could easily spend that much at a regular bar… and not get lucky. Here — you’re pretty much guaranteed.
Definitely worth a visit.

There are two things that I’m really not found of with this place. The first is that this place is dry (no alcohol). The second is that they don’t open until 10pm, this isn’t a huge deal for me but it would be nice if it was open a little earlier those those non nocturnal folks out there. For those who don’t know Paddles, it’s NYC’s oldest public dungeon. Yeah you heard me right, dungeon. Like medieval dungeon? Yeah, sort of. It’s an underground (literally and figuratively) BDSM club where people come to chat with others in the scene or play using their equipment or the stuff you bring yourself. If watching is your thing, you really won’t feel creepy watching if you keep your space. There’s no sex allowed here and technically certain parts have to be covered (this is a looser rule from what I’ve seen). They’ve got plenty of semi-​private areas for just about any kink (not involving sex anyway). In addition to the regular nights they also have parties here and themed nights. Of course most of the people here are older guys but not as much as you’d think, especially with certain events and the fact that regular admission for guys is $ 40 and girls are $ 10. Personally I think they should have free girl admission but I’m not sure that would change much. From my little experience I’d say it’s best to come here with someone because unless you’re gay and come on a guys only night it’s almost a given that the girls here are already involved with the guy (s) they came here with.
Also if you’re 18 – 35 go to Fetlife and sign up for the TNG group. Their card holders (which is free) get $ 20 admission.
