Bought wine from them once for $ 16. Tasted like crap. Went online to research more on the wine and it was $ 10 from multiple stores. So definitely prices are steep. I compared main stream wine brand prices at this store to the ones in astoria most wines they sell are couple dollars more expensive. Add to that that this store gets hot during summer and not air conditioned so definitely even good wine will break down faster in this temperature. They don’t seem to have any passion for what they sell. I hope a better place opens up in the neighborhood to drive them out of business.

Owner took careful time to discuss wine prices & economics, I really appreciate his thoughtfulness & care to not just the selling but the customer’s buying. Store layout is clear, obvious & easy-to-navigate & sponsors exploring related wines. Whether a quick in & out or slowly exploring, Packard’s convenient location a 1 minute walk from the Queensboro Plz exit makes it an easy decision.

The Indian guy who owns the place is kind of weird, but the prices are lower than S&A Wines & Spirits and the selection of wine is better. If you demand minis for a large-ish purchase(greater than $ 50) they will give you a few. By the way, they know nothing about wine and spirits, so don’t trust their judgement. But overall, they have a nice wine selection and their prices aren’t bad. I’d pick them over any other neighborhood joint.

I’ve stopped in here a couple times now. It’s a cheery little store with a decent selection considering the size. The owner is friendly, a nice guy. He did seem a little spacey, though, because when he was pitching me on his store’s delivery service(they’ll drop off your wine/liquor order with your doorman), he didn’t seem to understand that although I do in fact live in the neighborhood, I do not live in a doorman building. I think(and my roommate agrees) that the hard liquor pricing is definitely on the steep side, and the wine might be as well, but that won’t stop me from making an occasional run to this place. I’ve heard good things about the liquor and wine ship across the way, on Queens Plaza South, but that would take me twice as long to get to from my apartment, so Packard Sq. Wine still has my business.
