I just can’t believe how good there food is. I used to rant and rave about chipotle, but these flavors just can’t be outdone by them. My picky boyfriend from Texas claims it’s the best burrito he has ever had.

Their concept is very similar to chipotle, I agree. But the fact that this place is Korean operated, with Jewish entrepreneur, and Mexican chef, they do offer some unique features. The food had more variety of flavor, and their selection of sauces are really fun and tasty. The quality of food was really high, all made from scratch, so they are super fresh also. Everything tasted so awesome! The staff were all really nice and helpful, friendly and polite. I enjoyed talking to them also. We will definitely go back there for more of them delicious, fresh, tasty food! Read my full review of this restaurant and food my food blog, foodlovergirl.

The food is a resounding ‘meh.’ Pretty much chipotle with slower service. The ‘steak’ was the same dry, overcooked, mystery beef with little flavor. The carnitas were decent, but the rest of the ingredients reinforced the meh. If you want tex-mex with meat that tastes like meat, just go to Tres Carnes. Same price, faster service, superior meat. I really see no purpose to this place.

Ordered delivery from here, turned out to be a big mistake unfortunately. Delivery took almost hour and a half, food was cold and it was missing chips and guac from the order.

Dear Chipotle, As a long-time supporter of yours(pre-e.coli days), I am writing you to inform you that I will now be doing business elsewhere. Warm Regards, Chloe — — — — - Now, Oxido is Chipotle’s fresher, better decorated sibling with some pizazz! Didn’t know about these«secret» nachos others have written about, but I will be sure to try them on my second visit. Instead, I ordered what I normally do at Chipotle: the bowl. Portions at Oxido are smaller and the prices are a bit higher(bowl cost me $ 10.84 with tax). Brown or white rice options, onions and peppers, pick your protein… is any of this sounding like the Mexican fast food giant? Yeah, I thought so, too. BUT Oxido offers three things Chipotle does not: mushrooms, a wide variety of sauces(all of which are delicious) AND fresh cilantro! I’m in love. My meal was super filling, despite the smaller portions and I am happy to say that I can satisfy my craving for a chicken bowl without risking my health. I’ll be back for more of this«Modern Mexican». Until next time. Tip: try the chipotle sauce! It’s so full of flavor and perfect for someone who doesn’t want anything too hot, but would enjoy a little kick.

A superior chipotle(at least based on the internet) with not much difference in the food but longer lines The breakdown of the line in the middle is also kind of confusing — they have half of the line on the left against the wall and half of the line against another side of the wall. Not entirely sure why.

I need to start this review with a preface of sorts: Chipotle Mexican Grill is my favorite food on this planet. period. I love it, and could without question eat it every meal, every day until my final breath. That being the case, I wanted to hate Oxido — hate it, because in my mind they were tarnishing holy ground by trying to knock off Chipotle. While I fought it throughout the entire meal, I didn’t hate Oxido, and in fact, I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? Oxido mimics the Chipotle model to a T, with the standard food line and seating area and even a similar décor. If it ain’t broke? Don’t fix it. Star Granted. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? My burrito bowl equivalent came to $ 8.95 pre-tax, which was a pretty good deal considering how much food there was here. Star Granted. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I had lower expectations for Oxido versus what I’m used to at Chipotle, but I was truly blown away at the quality of ingredients here. Sure, there are bonus topping like queso, which Chipotle has argued aren’t available because it’s impossible to get queso with natural ingredients, but even the core components here like the rice and beans were excellent as were the meats. Dual Stars Granted. Star 5: Would you eat here every day if you could? Oxido is a fantastic Chipotle alternative, but I’m still loyal to my home team. No Star Granted.

Want your Chipotle fix minus the E. Coli? Oxido is the answer! The setup is similar, but the food is substantially fresher and the sauces put Chipotle to shame. I highly recommend the chicken poblano, smoked jalapeño sauce and suiza sauce.

My burrito eating fiancé could not be more satisfied with this. Definitely a close call with Dos Toros but the sauces are so unique it adds to such great combinations we tried and pork and the beef curry which tasted like chili con carne amazing! Will be back

The food here is SO much better than that of Chipotle or Dos Toros, and I’m a little sad that it doesn’t have the recognition that it deserves! I just got a burrito bowl with steak and pretty much every existent topping that they had — and let me tell you, the steak was really delicious. Even the guac tasted very fresh and flavorful. Rest assured, I will definitely be returning soon!

This is definitely a solid«Modern Mexican» spot as they like to call it. I’ve eliminated Chipotle out of my life at least a year ago but this definitely is way better than Chipotle and Tres Carnes. It doesn’t taste fake and has a way fresher and lighter taste. Went with the grass fed grilled steak with the works topped with salsa cruda sauce, which btw was very good. They have a NICE selection of sauces and anyone who really knows me knows I’m all about the sauce so of course I had to ask for extra! Overall pretty impressed. If your in the mood for a Mexican bowl, burrito or tacos I’d definitely recommend coming here. FYI: prices are pretty much identical here as they are at Chipotle

Very similar to Chipotle or Dos Toros, but has fun ingredients like mushrooms. I love the different sauces and the way they match sauces based on what you order. I got the veggie burrito bowl with mushrooms. I really loved the mushrooms and liked that they have queso to add. The owner is also so friendly! We chatted with him and felt like we could come back anytime and he would remember us. Highly recommend!

Went here for a Unilocal event a few days back. Actually got there at the tail end so no free burritos for me :) But I didn’t mind because the burrito I got was worth every penny. Chipotle comes to mind, but the ingredients here seemed fresher & more delicious. I had a veggie one with brown rice(yes it’s veggie) & black beans, corn, pico de gallo, grilled peppers & guacamole. Filling & priced right!

I agree with everyone else. This place is going to eat Chipotle’s and Tres Carnes’ lunch(see what I did there)… Great owners, great staff, and really tasty food. I don’t know about everyone else but I love a great sauce with my food and Oxido has some truly 5-star sauces. The inside is light and bright– great for lunch which works out for me since we live very close. I can personally recommend the garlic steak(really tasty) and chicken poblano. Get the sweet corn on anything you order and let the staff recommend the sauces for your selection. You won’t be disappointed!

Normally I stay away from Mexican food, but I am so glad I tried this place! Watch out Chipotle and all other fast casual Mexican places: you have a new competitor. The chips here are absolutely bomb. They have these red flakes on them that just add an incredible layer of flavor. Their orange salsa is also very spicy! My favorite thing that I tried was the chicken quesadilla and the chicken in my burrito bowl. Because of the Asian/home-cooked influence(that’s kind of the unique twist they put on their brand of Mexican food), the meat was incredibly juicy and savory in a way that really appealed to me. The restaurant décor is also simple but trendy and very clean. There’s a big space down the middle leading to the back where you order and then seats on either side as well as a feel bar-style seats near the entrance. If you come here for lunch you might food coma but definitely try this the next time you crave Mexican!

This place is very similar to chipotle. The only issue for me is that they put too much cumin seasoning on everything, even the rice. My chicken bowl was still good though and the price is moderate($ 25 for 1 bowl, 1 burrito, 1 water &1 coke). I probably won’t be back here again but I can see how people who like cumin seasoning would love this place.

This is a nice and pretty new spot that rivals Chipotle, Dos Toros, etc. All of the servers are really nice here, and I liked the spacious booths you could sit at! Anyways, we had the make it dirty, which consisted of a nacho’rdinary bowl of corn chips, mexican beef curry, and cheese. It was good but kind of felt like I’d get a heart attack later, haha. And yes, try their sauces! I forget which one I liked, but they recommended it since it was the most popular-that was the best one! Next time, I’ll have to try their normal burritos, haha.

There are nachos on the secret menu(but you didn’t hear that from me…). Hidden selections aside, the forward facing items are definitely worthy of making an appearance in your weekday lunch rotation. These days it’s easy to call every fast casual concept«the Chipotle of… «{insert world cuisine}, and Oxido is no different. It’s the Chipotle of Tex Mex. What sets them apart are the variety of house made salsas(there are seven of them), and the soon-to-be iconic queso blanco that’s added to any bowl or burrito. The meats, beans, rice, guacamole, salsa, and cheese are certainly in the same stratosphere as the C-word juggernaut. But trust, if you go to Oxido, you’ll be stoked you took a walk down a different lunch path. Don’t be surprised if you see more of these cropping up throughout the city. It’s got the makings of a new pop star in the culinary landscape of Manhattan(and beyond).

This place just opened up and it already had a long line so I knew it would be good. I’m glad to say I wasn’t disappointed! Thankfully, the line moved quickly and yeah staff were super friendly. We’ll see if that lasts after a few months of dealing with the lunchtime rush and the general unpleasantness of New Yorkers, ha. As you can tell, this is basically a Chipotle copycat but they have a few different items on the menu, as well(more salsas and a queso blanco sauce). The food is really good, and a little smaller and less salty than Chipotle. It’s honestly just as good, and I love that the meat is all-natural and grassfed. Also it’s $ 2 cheaper, so yay, winning! I got a chicken poblano bowl and they’ll happily substitute lettuce in place of rice. I had the fire roasted tomato salsa which was good but not spicy so next time I think I’ll try the jalapeño one. Overall, a solid option for lunch(or dinner) in the Flatiron(and closer than Chipotle!).

Similar to Chipotle. The portion is slightly smaller but also slightly cheaper. I tried a bowl filled with rice, pulled pork, chicken all the toppings, and a green sauce. I was little upset by the portion of guac, it was literally a teaspoon size for 95cents extra. The spice on the chicken was way more flavorful than Chipotle. I actually really enjoyed the guac but it was so little I barely got the flavor. A solid alternative in the neighborhood if you don’t want to wait for Tres Carnes or Chipotle. However, if I want to get my guac fill I will go to Wrapido where they give you a huge scoop and it’s free.
