Loved it the first time but the 2nd time I was so unimpressed. Consitstency was not there. I’m not interested in going back, unless I can have the same experience I had the 1st time.

This is my new favorite gallery. Run by a collective of 12 members — artists and art historians all — the space has been renovated only at eye level. That means that the floor and ceiling has been left unfinished and that the focus is more on the art than anything else. Right now, they have a joint exhibit featuring three artists. All reflect on the same theme, roughly: the ongoing changes on the Lower East Side. Zoe Leonard contributes a front window installation of vintage suitcases, as well as a grid of photographic prints focusing on close-cropped shots of storefronts in the neighborhood. Petra Wunderlich exhibits large-scale photo prints of synagogues in the area. And exhibit organizer Christian Muller led a walking tour of the area yesterday afternoon. C. and I were really impressed by how friendly the collective members were, the gallery space itself, and how everything in the exhibit tied together so well. A gallery worth watching.
