Probably the worst experience I’ve had with a therapist. Bad thing is I got her reco from a reliable source:(I visited her with a lot of expectations of help, but her tone, body language in the first five minutes into our conversation totally turned me off. It felt she was disinterested to listen to me right from the start. she rather behaved drunk or extremely sleepy. five minutes into the conversation it became just vaguely clear that she would not be the right therapist for me. but still even in those crucial five minutes she was lame and uninspiring and almost like she had decided that she’ll not take me as a patient even before seeing me. I dont know what made her think that way. then why accept the appnt and waste all of my and her f***ing time??? after five minutes, I was like trying to make the best use of the remaining 40 minutes of the session, but she was totally disinterested to talk seriously and offer me any help. she just gave couple of recos with whom it felt like she had stuck a deal or something. While I was asking very serious questions on what she thought abt my condition and what could be the best approach, she would answer all of them casually uttering some routine psychology sentences and felt like she waent sure of any of her suggestions by ending ‘Well I dont know. I am not sure’. In short she was just not interested to talk to me:(This can be very dangerous when a therapist answers serious life changing qsns in a extremely casual way. he/she can end up misguiding the patient! But at the end inspite of her rather unprofessional behavior, she was quick to say ‘Give me my co-pay!!’. So overall, seeing her conduct I felt dismayed on how such casual therapists who dont know basics of how to talk/behave to a patient in the first visit can offer to help them in the long term. I think she herself needs help. Also her dress was most outrageous for a therapist. I’ll try to find a good therapist but meeting such therapists certainly makes me uninspired to seek further help and reduces my belief that psychologists can make some change in your life.
