Absolutely disgusted. If you have an interview with The manager be aware that he is racist. I went in for an interview and when I put out my hand to introduce myself, Frank looked me up and down and completely disregarded me. At that moment I decided that this not the place for me and I left. NYC is a very diverse city with lots of other food options. Please do not support this poor taste in business.

Pretty decent sichuan food. The price is little bit high. They offer a big menu. Recommend the fish soup and dried pot frog.

Don’t mind the huge dead rat next to their garbage at the curb… never tried them And never will… review is for the garbage residue that carting company left behind(zoom next to the pole on the lower right of the picture)

By far the worst Chinese food I have ever experienced. The General Tso’s chicken was so foul I could not finish my «lunch special». Fatty, soggy chicken that wasn’t fully cooked, it still makes me sick to think about my lunch from here. The Hot & Sour soup tasted like it had soap in it. This food was god awful and I will most definitely never pay for this hog slop again.

Gross. Orange beef arrived looking scarily unlike beef and covered in something like buffalo wing sauce. So tough and stringy I couldn’t eat it. Steamed pork dumplings were OK, but nothing great. Never again.

Once again, I needed a quick bite before an appointment since I would not have time to eat later. I was seated right away and a menu appeared. I ordered the jumbo shrimp dish with cashews with brown rice. It was very good. I finished my meal, the check came, I paid and left. A very quick, satisfying Chinese lunch. I would recommend and return.

meh… The food doesn’t taste authentic here. I come from China and I’m very picky about Chinese food. We ordered wonton with spicy sauce. It was literally soaked in soy sauce, and I could tell it had been soaking for a while. It was wayyyy too salty but lack of spicy flavor. Another dish we ordered was green beans. That one was good. Fuqifeipian (beef and tripe with hot sauce?) was weird. The beef was so hard to chew and the sauce wasn’t spicy enough. The restaurant sounds like a Sichuan style but a lot of things on the menu are Cantonese. So how can it be authentic?!

Ok, so food was decent. Nothing crazy, but was disappointed the dumplings were like pierogi; and they were stingy in handing out extra house mustard. Here is my real issue; at $ 18 for prawns in lobster sauce, I’d expect more than 8 small shrimp and broth. Not only low in shrimp, but almost couldn’t find the minced pork either. This was a total ripoff, and I will never trust ordering there again.

This is the type of place I would go with other Chinese friends for classic, family-style food. Some of the dishes I’ve ordered here include: soup dumplings, twice-cooked pork, lamb with cumin, and salt and pepper shrimp. Nothing I’ve ordered has been disappointing. I can’t say how this experience would be if you’re looking for American-Chinese food, but I’m definitely satisfied with the authenticity of the Chinese staple dishes here. Service here is prompt. Overall, I’m glad to come here to order some of my favorite Chinese dishes.

Ate in a hurry to get to Pier 78 hop on boat. Noodle dishes with minimal meat. Large quantity but I thought taste was not there. The noodles we ate had way too much soy sauce and gravy. Extra salty so will not ordered crispy noodle with soggy gravy noodles.

I am so glad there is a delicious Ollie’s in my area to satisfy my chinese food cravings! Came here on a Tuesday night with friends and the restaurant was busy, but we were able to sit immediately. I would highly recommend what our table ordered: Steamed soup dumplings Shrimp fried rice Dry sauteed string beans Cold sesame noodle Sauteed beef with shredded carrots Sliced pork belly garlic stems Boiled fish filet in spicy broth Everything was great but my faves were the sliced pork and string beans since you can never go wrong w/those. Also, the spicy broth fish soup was the star of the show! So full of flavor and authentic numbing sichuan spiciness that I LOVE. I can’t wait to come back and try more of their dishes. Tip: they deliver on seamless

Ordered $ 70 worth of food to be delivered and discovered something terribly wrong with the Kung Pao chicken. It tasted awful — I mean, truly uneatable. So I spit it out and decided to exchange it the following day rather than make the delivery guy come out again on a cold night. When I returned with the 95% full dish and my receipt the following day and politely asked for an exchange, the manager began yelling at me and treating me like I was trying to steal from his store. I pointed out that the dish was virtually untouched except for a spoonful and he said there was no way for him to know that I didn’t replace it with something else. Huh??? Instead of reacting to his absurd accusation, I calmly suggested he just do the right thing and give me a new Kung Pau chicken since I was inconvenienced the previous night by receiving a dish that was atrocious. Instead he continued insinuating that there was something nefarious going on. I also reminded him that yelling at customers isn’t the way to treat someone who is complaining about a bad dish, and he told me he didn’t need my business and he didn’t care what I thought. Bottom line, folks, is that you shouldn’t expect decent customer service at Ollie’s. I tried to help them out by not making their delivery guy come back out to exchange the dish during their busiest time, and for that I got spit on by the manager. I tried to give Ollie’s the benefit of doubt but I have to admit this Ollie’s has been going downhill for a long time and I think this is the sign I needed to know not to go here anymore. And I won’t! In fact, the manager even reminded me that there are plenty of other Chinese restaurants in Midtown, which was helpful. If you don’t like anger and rudeness with your Chinese food I strongly recommend caveat emptor!

Not sure if this place gave me food poisoning but I definitely didn’t feel good after eating here. The food came out quickly… If that isn’t somewhat questionable I don’t know what is.

Definitely not as good as the other sichuan places in NYC but not the worst. They actually haev a few authentic choices on the menu but most of it has become american-chinese dishes(they even have a fauz-cantonese section). It’s funny being there surrounded by white people who order multiple paltes of fried rice and lo mein – excuse me racism. Décor is also super confusing but food is cheap and service is quick, plus compared to other palces, service here is actually really nice.

When I worked in the Times Square area, my co-workers and I used to go to the Ollie’s on 44th Street for lunch or to hang out after work. We had many great memories from that place, so, when we planned a reunion, it was only natural that we wanted to go there. Unfortunately, that Ollie’s has closed down. We discovered this Ollie’s on 42nd Street by 9th Avenue, and decided to go there. The décor was not as nice as the one on 44th St., but it wasn’t bad either. And, aside from a slight mix up in the beginning, the service was good. As for the food… We started with steamed shrimp, pork, & veggie dumplings. They weren’t bad, but they weren’t as great as we remembered. When my co-worker ordered her dish, she asked that they tone down the spice. I guess that they decided to tone everything down. I ordered the Numbing Spicy Chicken, which had 3 peppers on the menu. It did have a slightly spicy aftertaste, but it was hardly numbing. One co-worker ordered the eggplant with garlic sauce, which was flavorful, but, overall, we were underwhelmed. I am rarely in this area nowadays, but if I ever am, I will try this place again. It’s possible I got them on an off day.

When my parents visited, I took them to over 20 chinese restaurants in the city and they said this is definitely their favorite.(Words from local chinese!) Service is far better than average chinese restaurant as well. Get the boiling fish fillet. Yum

The reviews here are split for a reason: the menu has some fantastic items and some bad ones that are meant for tourists. It depends what you get. Here’s what is good: the chef specialties, Szechuan dishes, and the soup noodles. Ollie’s was originally one of the best noodle shops in Manhattan. They serve heapingly large bowls of soup noodles, Cantonese style, with stewed beef or mixed seafood. Some of these noodle dishes are still great and will definitely fill you up for only a few dollars. The Szechuan dishes and chef specialties test your spice tolerance but are worth it. They’re delicious. The ma-la effect of the chilies lingers for a few minutes, but they aren’t painful. It feels like your tongue is getting a mini massage. Don’t get the regular Chinese mainfare like sesame chicken or beef with broccoli. Don’t expect life-changing, world-shattering Chinese if you order that. But if you get order some of the more interesting things on the menu, the wait staff will take notice and will treat you with true deference and pride. They like that stuff. Don’t force them to serve the stuff that’s only on the menu because they work in Times Square!
