My French favorite place in NYC ! Definitely all the meals are awesome! Each time I try something different. And believe the French — gourmet I am! These guys rock! Last meal ordered? French Brie cheese with truffle ! #pornfood with a great glass of Sancerre(white wine) –Oh gosh ! I am in heaven !

Perhaps I am biased because I came here on a Tinder date that went extremely well, but I digress. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly. The wine we had was tasty. I am a lightweight, so after some less-than-elegant gulps, I got clumsy and knocked over my glass of wine. The waiter was more than sympathetic, cleaning everything up with zero complaints and refilling a new glass to the original level. The atmosphere is dark and romantic and brought out the irresistible mysteriousness in my date’s deep, blue eyes. In short: we came nervous and speculative; we left: happy and drunk. Lovely place with lovely waiters/staff.

I came here on a Tuesday around 3pm with a friend of mine to upwind and relax after a hectic post-holiday week. After work and school, relaxing is well needed. When we arrived there was only the other guests dining but it’s 3pm people are still at work in the city. Around 5:30 other guest started to arrive. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. It was such a nice and quiet setting. The cheese board was good, I forgot to ask for the cheese ANDMEAT board(my fault). The shrimp cocktail was good. The wine was good. Very clean business. I’ll be here again soon.

Food: Amazing, Wine: Good, Service: Poor. I would give just about anything right now to be eating that dish of Seafood Pappardelle, excuse me, Pappardelle aux Fruits de Mer… OMG it was to die for. I didn’t even know I liked mussels, now I do! Plus it had several large shrimp and lots of baby scallops in it, too. And now I really need to know how to make such a killer buerre blanc sauce. I had some kind of Sauvignon blanc blend that I just didn’t really care for. My bf got a syrah and the steak entrée both of which were very good. I ate most of his vegetables and he helped me eat all my pasta so, win win! Now, unfortunately, to the service. Something happened almost as soon as we got there. It was a dispute between a waiter and a patron. Apparently a server had ‘punched’ a patron on the arm and called her a racist. I don’t know if this is true. What I do know is that they sent the server home and they were one person short. As a result, one of the owners became our server. But he is better suited to management because he essentially ignored us for about 30 minutes before getting us water and taking our drink orders by asking«Do you know what you want?» Not even a hello. Eventually we got our orders and the food came out pretty quickly, so thank you kitchen staff! But then our ‘server’ proceeded to order and eat his own dinner at the bar for the next 30 – 40 minutes, only once managing to quickly ask us how our food was. We had to wave him over to get the check. We left with our bellies pleased but our patience, not so much. It really is a shame that I’m left not wanting to experience that again because the food was so good and not terribly priced for a French place.

Solid burger. And by solid I mean amazing. And by amazing I mean my mouth is watering as I type this and I had a huge dinner today. GO and experience it for yourself. Also — everything on the menu is great as well as their selection of wine.

This restaurant seems to be a great place to go if you are: a. heterosexual b. not a young adult c. wealthy enough to order enough food to earn their respect(we each got an entrée, dessert and one drink) Well me and my girlfriend went here for our anniversary, and we are apparently none of the three. It must have been for one of those reasons that we got the worst and rudest service we’ve ever had in our lives, while watching the waiters scrape and bow to the families and couples at all of the tables around us. The waiter never came to check on how we were doing at any point in the meal. We sat in an emptying back room while waiters moved the tables around us to prepare for new patrons. Our dessert menu was on the table in front of us for 15 minutes before I asked someone to get our waiter. He responded curtly«he’s coming» and then moved tables around for five more minutes before going to get our waiter. We saw him gesture toward us to our waiter to indicate that we were waiting to order. Then our waiter came in and helped set up tables, and left again without taking our order. He finally curtly asked what we’d like once at least 10 more minutes had passed. When he brought my girlfriend’s limoncello, he placed it on the table without making eye contact with either of us and while gesturing to the couple behind us to inquire as to how they were doing. Accustomed to being treated without respect due to our sexuality, but not expecting it in Chelsea of all places, I can promise you that we were paying attention to how other patrons were treated as it was a busy night, and we saw nothing of the kind of service we received. We called a few days later to complain to a manager and were given the run around on the phone, and treated like imbeciles for thinking we had a legitimate complaint. Thank you for making our anniversary dinner tense, uncomfortable and infuriating. If anything I hope that people will forego the good food here to take a stand for the necessity of respectful service to all patrons.

What a great find in an unexpected Chelsea area! I was looking up places to have an early holiday lunch with coworkers nearby and stumbled here via Unilocal! So thank you Unilocalers! We came with no expectations whatsoever because every time it’s a «fusion» type place, it just never ends well… This place had tapas with both French and Spanish influence on the menu. So safe to say it’s a fusion restaurant. The décor is simple, silver metal tables with bar stool high chairs, and simple plate setting. Solo dining at the bar available or smaller tables upfront by the entrance. We grabbed a table near the back as it was kind of chilly that day. I actually liked the holiday touches with the miniature nut crackers at each table. Service: slow but very nice, & at times funny! Food: Beet salads(coworkers loved it! I’m not a big fan of beets.) escargot(must have!) in olive oil, butter & parsley baked to perfection! Entrees: Salmon burger w/fries, Roast chicken w/mash & green beans, pasta w/shrimps, mussels, and scallops. Coworker didn’t like the salmon burger, but the pasta dish was good. Get the roast chicken — it’s tender, moist and flavorful! I was so full but still managed to have a shared dessert. We ended our gluttony with a chocolate«xmas log». I didn’t like it but others did. It’s a toss up! Overall, would come back and try other items!

Restaurant decorated with a modern air, with at least 3 areas(bar seated, high tables, and wine section). We ordered from the seasonal menu a filet mignon and the burger. Both dishes were delicious and accompanied with small side salads and potatoes(mashes and fried). Waiters very friendly and helpful. Food and ambience great.

Amazing French restaurant in chelsea owned by 3 brothers in laws. The place is pretty unique with a mezzanine great from private parties. The brothers are super nice and will not hesitate to come to and have a good chat with you(if they are working the night you re coming of course). The food is really good, we got charcuterie and cheese and tapas(the cook has been working with the most famous French restaurants in the city and learnt a lot obviously) I personally only went for a birthday party that I organized, it was amazing, but I could only recommend to go for any diner parties!

There were a ton of options that i had my eye on both food and wine, but hey there’s only so much a girl can eat! What we went with… –House Red & White Wines on HH($ 7) –Cheese Plate for 2 during HH: 5 hefty portions of cheese(Camembert, Bleu, Brie — forgot the other two!), apple, grapes, bread, salad seasoned with dressing and mangoes($ 10) –Charcuterie for 2 during HH: 4 sliced meats, seasoned salad, baby pickles, mustard

I ended up here on a rainy Saturday in lieu of being at American Whiskey where we were going to meet friends and watch college football. Given that there was a line one block long to watch the game at AW, we opted for another drinking venue in the same proximity. No need to twist my arm to be at a charming wine bar over a sports bar! A few blocks away, we spotted this place which had a nice cozy, rustic, European vibe. We got there at 3:30 and happy hour was on for the next few hours. Score! I am not going to disclose the number of rose glasses of wine we had but it was plentiful. Then we split a large charcuterie plate of meats and cheeses. The waiter was so nice and attentive. This was my favorite spot in NYC that weekend. On my next visit, I would love to have brunch here.

Summary: Fantastic, well-crafted food, great service, and a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely on the pricey side, but pretty worth it IMO. I went here on a Tuesday evening while visiting NY on a business trip. It was at about 7:30pm and I was by myself, but I selected this restaurant after reading the many positive reviews on Unilocal.I saw the burger, read about the burger, and decided that the burger was to be mine. I walked into the festively-decorated(spooky) restaurant and was immediately greeted by a friendly hostess. She asked me where I’d like to sit: front, bar, or back. I elected for the back and was brought to a table that could sit for. There were a decent number of diners already there(many of which spoke French), but there were also some tables open. Soon, I was introduced to my server for the evening, Nizar. He asked me if I wanted tap or sparkling water and supplied me with the drink and food menus. To note, the food menu doesn’t align exactly with the online version(for ingredients and prices), but they are mostly the same. Nizar gave me a few minutes to look over the menu and then returned. I then ordered. Diet Coke — Yes, I put it here. The reason why is because they serve little 8 oz glass bottles for $ 4 each. Be aware :-) The Burger — This creation combines so many amazing ingredients together in such an artfully crafted way as to only be described as quite masterful. I ordered mine prepared medium and it was super juicy, fresh, flavorful(especially with the supplement of chipotle sauce), and was pretty filling. The burger also came with a nice side salad and a basket of steak-cut fries with ketchup, both of which were quite enjoyable. That burger, though… that’s a solid burger. After eating both of these items, I decided to use my Unilocal Check-in offer to get a cappuccino, and then ordered macarons to go. The cappuccino was nice and frothy. Back at the hotel room I discovered that he macarons were amazing. Great flavors and textures. Even flavors that I don’t normally enjoy were really REALLY good. Throughout the whole meal, Nizar was friendly and attentive. The total(pre-tax) came to $ 40, which is certainly not super cheap, but is actually warranted for a meal and experience that was as well executed as this. I look forward to returning with my wife next March :-)

The four stars are based on first impressions. Anyway, I had planned on walking across on W 30th Street to the American Whiskey bar but I ended up on W 29th Street instead. I saw a couple of tables on the sidewalk and found this very cute French place. I stopped and had a cocktail. It was something with bourbon and nicely made. Cost $ 15 but I can live with that. Bartender and at least one server had French accents. Open seven days — limited lunch/brunch menu and dinner menu available all day. Definitely will stop by again.

Puis on demande l’addition.

After finishing what might have been the worst double decker tour of NYC, in the entire history of NYC, I was starving… OCananon to the rescue. We came here for some tapas, but nothing stood out to us, so the BF and I both ended up with burgers. Best.Decision.Ever. This is literally one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. The OCabanon Burger is a homemade ground beef patty stuffed with Bacon, Short Ribs, & Brie Cheese. Topped with Avocado, Tomato, & Chipotle Sauce. Served with French Fries & Herb Salad. F’n AMAZING, everything about it. The Fries were outstanding too. A bottle of wine, a burger, and a date with my guy, such a perfect night The service was outstanding.

Generous portions, excellent quality and taste, attentive and friendly service without being overly familiar, fantastic wine selection… I arrived with no expectations and left a loyal customer. The charcuterie board was heaped with an excellent variety of meats. The ratatouille and burrata outstanding. The lamb shank was tender, delicious and fell off of the bone. All wines sampled and suggested were excellent and went with their courses. Prices might seem a little higher than ambience suggests but are definitely worth it. Two thumbs up for: quality, service, taste, variety, experience. Will return.

I will be honest — Ocabanon wasn’t our first choice because we planned on being in Chelsea/West Village area where we could have our choice of many excellent places. The day we went here was also the day of the Pride Parade(#LoveWins) so we thought this was the more sensible choice closer to Penn Station and away from the Parade route for a more low key dinner. It was not too busy when we came in early Sunday for dinner — we had a reservation, but not required since we had a choice of table. The waiter was attentive from the moment we sat — offering sparking, still or tap water as we looked over the menu. We decided to order wine by the glass since I wanted white and my wife ordered a red. We placed an order for a half dozen oysters and the St Jacques cerviche. This was some flavorful and delicious seafood — the oysters were juicy and tender served with a mignonette and lemon. The St Jacques cerviche were served on six individual scallop shells with thinly cut scallop and the sweetest, most well balanced cerviche I had a in a while. Both were excellent. For our mains I went with the Salmon since the menu had it listed as «slightly cooked» and put my faith that this fish would be very fresh and cooked perfectly — I was not wrong. A perfect crisp exterior and very rare interior this had some awesome flavor. Served with plenty of vegetables and mashed potatoes — all cooked perfectly and delicious. My wife, went for the burger — which was just simply incredible. Served on a wood board it was a large burger — juicy and perfectly cooked with avocado, bacon, tomato and chipotle sauce. The fries were exemplary along with an herb salad to lighten things up a bit. For dessert we shared a selection of mini sweets which was a sample of 5 different desserts that all were done well. A nice taste of it all. We did a full meal here and it was quite enjoyable, but it is also a place to to sit and relax with a couple of glasses of wine and perhaps a nice light bite from its well rounded menu. So many great choices and the ones we had hit the mark. The service was great and very attentive the entire time, but the whole experience was not cheap. I did find it reasonable for the quality of everything served though. This is a large space and a fantastic choice not far from Penn Station.

Thank god for OCabanon for always giving me great food before a show at Madison Square Garden. If it weren’t for this French little gem, I would probably be stuck eating wieners from a hot dog cart for dinner(nothing wrong with that, of course, but I’m a growing girl and can’t survive on just wieners) each time. So when my friends and I bought tickets to see Aziz Ansari(hilarious, btw) at MSG, it was no question that we would be dining at OCabanon beforehand. Don’t judge me, but I never order an actual entrée when I’m here because I’d rather have two smaller dishes that I can sample instead of one large one. Yup, you guessed it, tapas are probably one of my favorite things in the whole entire world. So in lieu of an entrée, I usually opt for the combo of Escargots in Garlic + Parsley Butter and Pâté en Croute Maison. While you may think that 2 appetizers might be enough food, lemme tell you, you are wrong. Trust me, I can eat a lot for a girl my size and both of those dishes are always enough to leave me impressively full. The escargots are as good as any that I’ve ever had. Garlicky, buttery and delicious, each piece is so flavorful and tasty. And don’t even get me started on that sauce. Definitely save some bread for it because you’ll want to have enough to lap up that sauce. I wouldn’t leave a single drop behind. The pâté is also great as well. Not only does it taste amazing, but there’s so much of it too. You literally get a huge slab of pâté for this so-called appetizer. With the amount you get, it definitely seems more like an entrée. I was not complaining one bit. And of course I finished every bite of that meaty goodness. So if you’re looking for a restaurant with great food before a show at Madison Square Garden or even before or after your bus at Penn Station, look no further. You definitely can’t go wrong with OCabanon.

Yum! What a great find. Conveniently located close to penn station. Nice atmosphere. Excellent menu. Everything I had was great. Their foie gras trio was super tasty. Risotto was flavorful and I liked that there was more mushroom and other ingredients other than rice. The tapas was great too. Definitely try the yakitori beef skewers if you get tapas plate– so tender and flavorful. Codfish was uniquely done as a paste with chips to eat it with. The octopus was slightly chewy, but seasoned perfectly. Tarte flambee was so deliciously bacony. Drinks were great too– try the fizzy island with a cube of peach purée that melts as you drink it. Each dish ranges but averages about $ 18 each. The portion sizes are surprisingly bigger than I thought they would be. For two people, we over ordered and were full before 2 dishes even came out. I’d definitely come back.
