I called this company and Proven Data Recovery today, and both phone numbers sent me to the same receptionist who just answers with «data recovery». When I called Proven, she hung up after I started talking (it’s possible that the call was disconnected, but my guess is that she recognized me from calling this company).
She asked for my name, phone number, email address, and type of drive to set up a case, and said that someone would get in touch. She was clear that they don’t do data recovery locally — the drive is sent out.
Ultimately, even though their website mentions «NYC» 23 times, this place felt like a «shell» for a reseller or other non-​local data recovery service.
