I spent some time in new york over the summer and was determined to have someone clean up the trash that i had on my arm. Luckily i met with jeremy for a consultation and he said no problem. he even worked with one of his other clients to rearrange appointments so i could get the time need to finish the tattoo. he not only cleaned up what i had, but gave new life to the whole piece with original design and amazing color. if i had more time in new york i would definitely be having Jeremy design something custom for me. The only tattoo artist i would even consider in NYC

NYArtMan(aka Jeremy Garrett) is one of New York city’s oldest tattoo artists and possibly one of its best kept secrets. First the facts: trained as a traditional painter; decided that painting like Dega would not get him far; inept at keeping 9 to 6 corporate jobs even though he was requested to work in variuos high-level design jobs in prominent graphics design firms; started tattooing when it was not«welcome as an art form»; street-wise hard worker who has seen it all and done it all. Now the fun facts: serene personality(at least when he is tattooing), amazing design talent(can make dreams come true through a paragraph of description), incredibly sensitive to sanitizing his environment(it’s quite hard to get an infection from his tattooing environment, not with all that green soap, alcohol and germicide he uses), no fuss, no mess, no kidding, strict business attitude, will not make you wait, will not make you do things you don’t want to, anything and everything is doable only if it’s doable — he’ll look at your misdesigned tattoo and tel you right away how long it may take him, how hard it is going to be and what it will be like; if he can’t he’ll say he can’t, if he can then he’ll deliver exactly that. Pass the advertising section, let’s talk a bit about his art. I love Jeremy’s designs, period. He’s the quintessential comic book guy and his designs remind me of DC comic’s glory days. The biggest reason why I love his work is possibly due to the fact that our tastes coincide. He only does original work, it’s quite hard to convince him to do somebody else’s design on you — not impossible, but you’d have to try real hard. As in any«real» tattoo artist, it’s very important to check out their work and see how you feel towards their designs. If I wanted a Yakuza style tattoo, I would have gone to somebody else, or a HR Giger type of design, or a Hindu type of work, or a tribal design(which I seem to hate btw :)). So, be wise, take it slow, do your research and then choose your artist. Final note: Jeremy is a hard worker and has an immaculate business ethic. One other reason that I love working with him. He’s been tattooing over 20 years and he’s done thousands of people’s tattoos; his experience is another reason why I love working with him. There is an auora of efficiency in the air when he’s working and it makes you feel really safe and committed. One other final note after the last final one: Jeremy is extremely busy :) so make your appointment as soon as you’re done with consulting session, heck, make 4 or 5 appointments for the followthroughs before hand; saves a lot of time. Obviously another final note is due: He does not have a tattoo parlor, you won’t find his store on the street, there are no signs, there are no walk-ins and there is no advertisement. He has a small art studio on the 12th floor. Nice music, clean, quiet environment, no distractions, no visitors, no nothing. Pure art. I would not let any other tattoo artist touch me. PS: I did a right arm, elbow to shoulder sleeve work with him. Totally original idea, design based on my description. He nailed the design and produced what I had dreamed of in my mind in one shot. I am absolutely blown away. PS2: You’re investing in something that you will carry on your body for-ever; until the day you die! Yes, he is pricey, but you get what you pay for! And this is one thing that I would not be looking for a bargain in.

After getting some unfortunate tats as a teenager some years ago, I decided to seek an artist that has experience in dealing with cover ups. Luckily I stumbled upon the NYArtman website and made an appointment for a consultation. After meeting Jeremy I was left extremely confident in knowing that he had my best interests at heart and would deliver the goods. He customized a sleeve tattoo for me that went way beyond what I had imagined. The actual tattooing process is done in a clean, relaxed environment with cool tunes in the background and funny stories from Jeremy himself. Nothing pretentious at all about this place unlike some other shops in the city. Bottom line, If you want a genuine tattoo artist with tons of experience, a keen eye for detail, and an all around cool guy then Jeremy aka NYArtman is the man you gotta see.

I just got my new piece from Jeremy, and I have to say it was the most painless easy experience. I had wording done on my foot, he was careful and considerate. Great chill music playing in the background, and a very clean space. Two thumbs up for Jeremy, I am glad to have met him, and will for sure use him again…
