Overall good cart. It’s actually across the street from this location. But other than that pretty good lamb, decent chicken. The white sauce is an 8⁄10 in terms of 1 being a gross watered down white sauce and a 10 being the 54th/14th street carts. The red sauce is very good and so is the green sauce. I would recommend opting for the green sauce because the red sauce will devastate your insides about an hour after you finish eating lol

I really like this food truck. We go here at least two times a week for dinner. Great food, large portions, even better prices, and the guy that works this cart is super nice! He always has a smile on his face! –Chicken and rice: delicious and so comforting. I cannot see myself ever tiring of this dish. It is so good and satisfying. The chicken is moist and well seasoned, and the use of onions and bell peppers adds to the flavor. And, I love that he uses small pieces of broccoli adding both flavor and texture. Along with the tasty chicken, I really like the rice that comes in this dish. It’s always fluffy and soft, and full of flavor. It’s normally served on top of yellow rice, but their have been several times I’ve had it with the brown rice. Both are long-grain, but are seasoned differently. I’m assuming turmeric is used for the yellow rice and bay leaves for the brown rice. Both rices are delicious and change the taste of the dish just slightly. But if I had to choose, my preference would be the yellow rice. On its own, I would actually prefer the brown rice(as it is better seasoned). However with the chicken, I prefer it with the yellow rice. The brown rice does a great job, but the yellow rice just really compliments and completes the dish. I’m not sure how he decides to serve one rice over the other(I’m assuming it’s based on what he has available), but I don’t really care enough to ask. I eat it however way he chooses to prepare if for me, as I know I will be happy either way. FYI, I did mention it to him that I noticed the two different rices, and he just said that he offers both. The brown rice was just a healthier option, but he adds seasoning and spices to make it flavorful. As with all the rice dishes, this also comes with a side salad. Their is a white and a spicy red sauce you can add to this dish. I normally just ask for white sauce only. For $ 5, you cannot go wrong. –Lamb and rice: equally as delicious, and served the same way as the chicken and rice. The lamb here is really soft and flavorful. Also, $ 5. –Combination: for $ 6, you can have a combination of both the chicken and lamb over rice. Lately, I’ve been ordering this as I’m always torn between ordering chicken or lamb. –Chicken tikka masala: flavorful and a good amount of heat. If you want a little more heat, you can always ask for extra red sauce. My husband normally orders this. $ 6. –Kati roll: really, really delicious and good portioned. It comes with several choice of filling(lamb, chicken and something else), but I always get mine with the lamb. Nothing about this roll will disappoint. He uses lots of onions and peppers in this roll as well. It’s a little messy to eat, but well worth the extra napkins. $ 3. –Chicken curry: my husband liked this dish, but I thought it was only okay. I thought it was more spicy than flavorful; I was looking for a stronger curry taste. Also, I prefer my curries to be creamy and this was more watery/soupy. FYI, I’ve been wanting to try this every time we’ve come, but they are always sold out. Per the guy, he normally sells out by lunch time. After many visits, I was finally able to order it. $ 6. –Fish over rice: decent and like everything here, good portioned. The fish was soft, moist, and not overcooked. However, I found it to be a little bland. My husband agreed that the fish needed a dash of salt or something, but still really liked the fish enough to order again. He was impressed by how well cooked the fish was. We’ve gone several times since ordering this dish in hopes of reordering, but it is always sold out. $ 5. I know it’s nowhere near the same, so it’s hard to compare this place to the Halal Guys on 53rd, since they are entirely different. Both different, both very good. But just as a reference, I think I like this place better. The chicken is better seasoned and more moist, the lamb a little softer, and the rice is just really delicious and hits the spot. The chicken and yellow rice really sets this place apart from other places. And really, the guy is super nice and friendly! Though this isn’t a sit down place, because the guy is so nice, I would for sure consider it kid friendly. He’s always so nice to my family and I :) Trust me, you won’t regret coming here. Be forewarned: you will get hooked and crave it often. FYI, this place is only open Monday through Friday. Oh, and if it makes a difference, I think their are a couple people that actually work this cart. I’ve seen someone else work it in the day, but I normally go after 4pm. Cash only.

I have been to many halal carts in Manhattan and Queens. This cart is criminally underrated. The red sauce is more savory, and less harsh than that of Halal Guys. They have yellow and brown rice(brown from the spices, it’s still long-grain white rice), it is always moist. I believe bay leaves are part of the preparation. The kati rolls are my favorite, but very messy and hard to eat. When I can’t be messy, I get the xx over rice. I’ve had everything, and even the fish is prepared excellently. The employees are very nice as well. They also have a green sauce, and if you request, can chop up some tiny green chilis if you like it VERY spicy. They have very finely chopped broccoli in their mix. One block south is another halal cart who is greasier, spicier but just as good, though in a different way.

Chicken over Rice with a can of soda for $ 5. Nice bang for the buck! The chicken was tender and flavorful. Definately one of the better carts in terms of taste and price around the Midtown East area!

I stayed at the Hotel Alex for a week and this place was my savior. I ate the Chicken Tikka Masala almost every day and absolutely loved it. Note that I am not from NY and have nothing to compare it to, but I thought it was delicious.
