Num Pang’s Cambodian style sandwiches will never live up to the Vietnamese Banh Mi. Small little sandwich spot. Limited seating inside. You can order inside or at the outside window. Service was quick. Pulled Duroc Pork — $ 8.95 — Really saucey. Pork was overpowered by the honey sauce. Also did not mix well with the pickled veggies. Very very TINY, about the size of a hot dog. I could get 3 huge Banh Mi’s for this price.

I’m not sure what is all the hype about this sandwich shop. The bread was not fresh it was from yesterday. The cook put it through the toaster, but it wasn’t enough. The chicken was okay, not flavorful enough. Maybe because it was Sunday!

I wanted a sandwich without cilantro. Their response: no modifications. Leaving out the cilantro can’t possibly be difficult, especially when I’m one of only two orders you’re making at the time. Num Pang, your sandwiches aren’t so legendary that they can come with a side of pretension. A little flexibility wouldn’t hurt.

I prefer Xe May all around. I tried the chicken sandwich — it was just OK I then tried the meatball sandwich– still small and just oK. I dont think ill be back. $ 9 for this? For $ 10 I can get a whole combo elsewhere. Not a big fan.

SUPERSUPERDISAPPOINTED! SHAMEONYOUNUMPANG! NEVERFORGET where, when, why you opened up the sandwich shop. I have been a loyal customer of num pang, from day one! I fell in love the moment I had a sandwich. The service, the quality… just everything about it! Eventually word got out about the amazing sandwiches and prices went up. I still continued to visit, the price to quality ratio made sense to me. Today I visited the shop on 12th street. The sandwich, looked as if someone chopped up pieces of steak, cooked it to a crisp.(photos attached) And slapped it on an oversized bun. I remember the days when the steak/bread ratio was 60⁄40. That is obviously not the case anymore. Num pang, i am certain you have lost customers and will continue to. Service was horrible! Velvet apparently thought the conversation between her and another co-worker was so much more important, than service. Granted after she ran my card, and handed me the receipt and card; she smiled and said thank you. But it doesnt change the previous transaction. If anyone decides to visit… Good luck! I personally dont think a $ 12 sandwich, which is mostly bread is worth it.

Definitely way over priced compared to similar sandwiches I have had but hey it is really good here. The pork belly one is delish. I heard the chicken one is pretty good as well. They have these sweet pickles in their sandwiches that also taste amazing. At 8 – 10 dollars… well I guess its cheap for manhattan.

The sandwich is so small like a baby sandwich. About $ 11 for Coconut Shrimp Sandwich.(There is no coconut taste) It’s not bad but not good either. I have recently just had banh mi sandwich in Xe Mai in East Village, so much better and so much worth it~

Had a very tasty and fresh salad with chicken. Large portion of chicken. The sandwiches looked great. There are a few seats, actually stools, for eating in as I did. Not real comfortable though. Am I showing my age by saying the music was turned out too high for a small place like this? Very nice young lady behind the counter last night. Served its purpose very well as I was looking for a place for a quick bite before meeting friends for the movies. Get a stool facing out into the street and enjoy your food and people watch! Came out to about $ 14 for salad and soda.

We tried the x MEATBALLROLL which tasted very similar to the ones you can at Subway. x CHICKENROLL which was also very mediocre. The soda sounded amazing to but was very sweet, I don’t recommend getting it. Service was above and beyond, with the attendant offering us a free roll because of the unavailability of our choice and for keeping us waiting now(we didn’t have to wait long at all).

The food here is out of this world. I’ve been trying to step out of my comfort zone lately and this seemed like the perfect place to do that. I do not regret any second of it. The Tiger Shrimp sandwich is incredible. I wish I could have it everyday of the week. The coconut flavor is so present and delicious I was completely blown away. So refreshing, the flavors really come together well. At first I asked if the dressings could be taken off but I was told that you can’t do that because the chef wants you to taste the sandwich as a whole. I’m glad that was a rule because I loved every bite of these sandwiches. My boyfriend and I split the shrimp and the Pulled Pork sandwich. I have to admit I liked the shrimp better but the pulled pork was right behind it. It was so tender and seasoned perfectly. With each bite I tasted a new flavor combination. It was amazing. I originally wanted the corn but unfortunately they were out so the cashier was nice enough to give us chicken soup on the house. Perfectly spiced and sooo yummy. Even my boyfriend liked it and he isn’t a soup lover. A little kick to it made it stand out from regular chicken soup. I highly recommend it especially on a cold day! And any place that carries Boylan soda is great in my book. The only problem I have is the seating but it’s Manhattan and I can’t really degrade the place based on their size. Definitely try this place out, the price is perfect and the food is unforgettable.

Everything here is delicious. The meat is perfectly sauced and seasoned, the slaw gives that tangy, crunchy factor, and the bread is soft but crispy on the outside. My sandwich did get a littttttle soggy but that was to be expected. It was a tough choice to decide which was my favorite between the ginger brisket and the pulled pork but if it’s your first time I would definitely go with the brisket. The chunk of meat is huge so you’ll be full for sure. The place is tiny and can get really crowded but the sandwiches were 100% worth the wait. I highly recommend it if you’re into Vietnamese or Burmese food.

3.5 stars Came here to pick up one of their sandwiches for lunch! It’s a really small store with seating for about 5 people so I would recommend getting your sandwich to go and eating it in Union Square! Despite the constraints of such a tightly packed store, I thought the service was superb and I was able to get my sandwich like a minute after I ordered it. I opted for the popular 5 spice pork belly sandwich and I found it to be absolutely delicious! You get a thick cut of pork belly that had a slightly high fat to meat ratio to it, which actually made it very juicy and savory. Along with the pork belly are your usual banh mi veggies like carrots, cucumbers and cilantro. The spicy mayo sauce was spot on. The bread had the right crispiness to it and wasn’t too stale. I ended up paying over $ 10 for this sandwich, which I think is a bit overpriced but the fact that it tasted so good and that I was full after eating it makes the price reasonable.

Delicious! I’m a big fan of this place. I can’t say enough about the sandwiches. They are filling and the bread-filling ratio is perfect.(I will say that I prefer my sandwich to be nearly overflowing, but that’s just me) You won’t need a fork to eat this, by any means. I had the one vegetarian roasted yam, which was spiced perfectly. The vegetables(carrots/parsley/sauce) to finish it off were great. I’m a bit picky when it comes to bread, and unfortunately the bread here doesn’t exactly cut it for me. Mine was a bit dry, and I think it could have been a bit more light. But it’s heavy enough to hold the delicious yam filling together, and it has a fulfilling munch when you bite into it. Also, the soup was really mediocre. I had the lentils, and it tasted exactly like how I make it at home.(Where I use all of 2 spices: P) I was hoping for something with a bit more of a kick. It certainly is filling though.

I am a big bahn mi enthusiast, and I only arrived to the city from Texas. I take all of my guests here and they all love it. I am a veg head so I always get either their seasonal Avocado bahn me or tofu, or cauliflower. All of them are delicious and you really can’t go wrong. Get their quinoa bread, delicious.

Their catfish sandwich is a good choice. Sometimes wish there was a bit more catfish in the sandwich since the bread is so hearty and the slice of catfish is usually so so thin. Huge fan of the veggies that come with the sandwich. I liked their salmon rice bowl when they had it. Believe it was a seasonal item. Bring it back!

Great sandwiches! Been here many times and I have 3 favorites: Coconut tiger shrimp: fresh shrimp, creamy chilly mayo. 5-spiced pork belly: juicy pork, pickled pear, carrot. Ginger brisket beef: flavorful, tender meat. The banh mi itself is crispy and tasty. I put sriracha in everything for better taste. I also tried the salad with Coconut shrimp from Numpang but it wasn’t as good. The sauce was a bit lack in flavor and a little dry.

Have been to a few of the locations around the city and have had pretty consistent solid food and service. I came here at night and ordered the chimi chicken bowl with brown rice. I asked for double chicken but was told that the company does not do any modifications(I was willing to pay for the extra chicken!). The chicken was tasty as usual, so we’re the veggies. However, the brown rice was a bit stale and crunchy. First unpleasant occurrence I have had any num pang, I would give this particular experience a 3 star rating but am leaving 4 stars for this review because that’s what I rate my overall experiences with Num Pang.

Like the sandwiches here! I tried the pork belly and brisket here near NYU campus, and it has a lot flavors especially if you eat it with the hot sauce. I personally like the pork belly sandwich, but after visiting 3 – 4 visits here, I wanted to try other ones. The new one I tried today was the ginger brisket one, which had a big piece of meat with similar ingredients of carrots and corriander. It was soft and easy to eat even though it was a big piece of brisket, and the flavors were similar to the pork belly one. The one thing I was confused though was that I could not taste or smell the ginger in the ginger brisket sandwich. It’s one of those places you can quickly order, get, and eat. I know I’m going to visit again soon once school starts for me.

Definitely did not expect it to be so busy on a Sunday night. I ordered a pork belly banh mi to go, and received my order in less than 2 minutes. Fast and efficient and service is my kinda service. As for the food, the flavors are definitely there, there’s like an additional pickle-like part that adds tangyness(?? LOL is that even a word??) to the sandwich. Thought that was certainly new and interesting, but it was a smaller portion that what I’m used to… My total came out to $ 9.55, but definitely download the LevelUp app to get $ 3 off your first purchase! If you come here quite frequently, this is the app for you. After $ 88 spent at any of their locations, they’ll give you $ 8 credit, which is almost a free sandwich. Enjoy!

OUTSTANDING. The ginger brisket num pang could easily be the best sandwich in the city. The skirt steak salad is excellent as well. Although you can eat there, be mindful there are probably only 6 seats in the place.

I though they had closed this location due to the construction and renovations going on. Man I am so glad they moved right across the street. Well there is no more spiral staircase which was so cool. And yea their sitting is so limited now. Like 6 chairs but the sandwiches are topps here. When I saw turkey on the seasonal menu it was like yea. more turkey. Thanksgiving is over but come on who doesnt love fresh turkey breast on a Num Pang sandwich. It was delish plus you cant leave here without a pork belly sandwich cause this taste so good with the asian pear. By the way I have been here so many times that the pork belly usually sells out. So if you are ever by University and 12th Street pass by you will not be disappointed at this Num Pang location. Glad I opened my eyes cause I gave up on this location cause of the construction.

This very small, very crowded sandwich shop is cranking out these beautiful sandwiches and salads like a well oiled machine. Tasty, tight(nothing falls out) and so well made our(today’s choices) skirt steak and coconut prawn sandwiches were right on. They also carry these«Dirty» potato chips that are very good. We took our sandwiches to go because this place does cause a bit of claustrophobia, but that really is no problem. Situated so close to NYU, this place is over run by that student body. They are a polite and patient horde, but now I’m getting into a NYU review. Nam Pang is a very good eatery that I highly recommend.

I got the spicy tofu sandwich with yogurt! It wasn’t spicy at all, which I appreciated because I prefer to avoid heat in earlier meals of the day. The tofu was surprisingly flavorful and the sandwich was very filling. The pickled carrots and daikon and thinly sliced cucumber are given in perfect proportions so that they don’t overwhelm the sandwich. The sandwiches are a little on the pricey side. Vegetarian options like the tofu sandwich are around $ 7.75 + tax. Meat ones are more. There isn’t a lot of seating. And I believe it’s cash only. Service is very fast. I did research in advance, so I knew that they didn’t do modifications to foods. However, my friend didn’t and she was turned down when she asked. I understand it probably speeds up the process, but my friend and I threw away our cilantro right when we got our sandwiches. What a waste.

What a great find through Unilocal!I was going to be in the Union Square area for a concert at Irving Plaza and wanted to try out a restaurant with great reviews. I’m so glad that this was the one we went with after having a few other names. There is barely any place to sit, they don’t see alcohol, but this place makes up for it in FOOD. Good food. Fresh, tasty, unique. Right up my alley. I ordered the pork belly sandwich, kale and apple salad, grilled corn, and a spicy ginger apple cider. Not one item disappointed. Everything was super tasty! Everything. My friend ordered the brisket sandwich which she devoured. And the service was really friendly. Will definitely return! **cool people watching from the few seats at the window*

4.5 stars. Perfectly crusty semolina bread + juicy 5-spice pork belly + pickled Asian pear, carrots, cucumber + chili mayo = $ 8.75. Great bread to meat to veggie ratio with all elements equally tasty. They also have house drinks– the Blood Orange Lemonade was great. Also many vegetarian options! Quick service, bar seating on first floor and they do take CC.

Ginger beef brisket sandwich! Wow. I can’t think of anything that would make this any more perfect. The sauce! Oh the sauce. The juicy bbq brisket, and fresh parsley and carrots were perfect combination of heavy bbq and light crisp vegetables. The bread was perfectly toasted and each bite was delicious. In love. Not sure I even want to try the other sandwiches because I do not want to be let down.

Creative and delicious Asian sandwiches. All sandwiches are served on a freshly toasted semolina flour baguette and served with cucumber, pickled carrots, cilantro, and Num Pang’s signature chili mayo. Classic sandwiches include pulled duroc pork, peppercorn catfish, hoisin meatballs, coconut tiger shrimp, roasted cauliflower, and grilled skirt steak. They also have rice bowls like roasted salmon, roasted chicken, spicy pork, and seasonal veggie. Ordered the coconut tiger shrimp sandwich($ 10.50) to go. What a sandwich. Crispy bread, perfectly cooked shrimp, tons of flavor, none of the mess. One of the better sandwiches I’ve had. Union Square location has 6 seats tops plus an outside bench. So not a great place to squat for hours with friends but comes with super fast service.

Solid sandwich. Very similar to a Vietnamese styled sandwich with pickled vegetables, french baguette, and a protein. Now if you plan on coming here to sit down, you’re out of luck since there’s no seating here. However, I recommend you walk over to Bryant Park and munch away on your sandwich there! Service is relatively fast even during busy hours. As for the pricing, it’s a few dollars more on average a sandwich compared to what you would get at a Saigon Shack. But nonetheless, it’s a gooood sandwich! Here’s what I’ve tried: Five-Spiced Glazed Pork Belly Sandwich Mmmm…pork belly that’s cooked well must have those pockets of melt-in-your-mouth fat and soft breaking-apart meat, and this definitely has that. Five spice flavor isn’t overbearing either, which helps the lightly pickled asian pear and carrots come through. The cilantro leaves and chipotle mayo smeared on the bread slices are a nice touch too. Keep in mind this isn’t 100% authentic Cambodian, but who cares cause it’s a damn good sandwich! Cambodian Slaw *Crunch crunch crunch* You will here a lot of that once you sink your teeth into the medley of cabbage, sprouts, and peppers all lightly dressed with the house vinaigrette. Definitely refreshing and has a little kick to it too Blood Orange Lemonade Served in their own bottles! Wasn’t blown away by it, but it tasted like good ol’ orange and lemons!

Tasty sandwiches! We got the Ginger Beef Brisket and Pulled Pork. I personally liked the brisket better — less dry. It’s a really small place — only a tiny counter with stools to sit at. Definitely a grab n go place. Knocking off a star since I thought the ratio of meat to other stuff was off… If you’re looking for something light, then I would opt for a salad instead — the sandwiches are quite meaty and heavy on bread /sauces. But still very good overall.

Nothing beats a good sandwich. Though I’m typically partial to the classics, from egg salad at an old-school deli to a big Italian sub to a perfect banh mi, Num Pang has me rethinking my preferences. They do a fusiony twist on a banh mi and they do it damn well. The most popular by far is the five spice pork belly. Because pork belly. This one is perfectly tender and delightfully flavorful. It comes with the usual pickled veggies and cilantro, and the chili mayo is a very nice touch. Most importantly, they definitely bring it when it comes to the bread — crusty but not painful to eat, nice and soft and fluffy on the inside, but never soggy. Their roasted salt and pepper Japanese yam is also a good choice if you’re not a pork fan. This one comes with swiss chard and the yam is huge so it doesn’t feel like a skimpy sandwich even though there’s no meat. The thing I would probably skip is their specialty beverages. The blood orange lemonade sounded so good, but once I took the bottle back and tried it I wished I had chosen differently. Service — spectacular. They knock those babies out super quickly, and do it with a smile. And they’ll always give you as much sriracha as you want!
