Worst. Place. Ever. It was insanely overpriced and the food was mediocre at best. The most offensive dish was the sashimi tacos, which cost us $ 36 for four. I think I got about two bites of lobster and two bites of crab. Literally. They were tiny, like MINUSCULE. Barbie could probably eat it. The taco shell tasted stale, kinda like it was fried and then sat in the window for too long. Probably a week. The crispy rice and spicy tuna dish was a little less bad, but again the rice was stale as all heck. Oh also, why were people in t-shirts and jeans??? I thought this was supposed to be a nice place. Such a freaking disappointment. Avoid this place!

I love sushi and don’t mind paying for it. I went to this place in Oahu and it was 100 times better. The place is overcrowded and the food is displayed as it would be in very exclusive restaurant. A+ for presentation. B– for taste. It’s a trendy place to people watch if you are a tourist. I wouldn’t go back to this location. Oahu is another story.

There is literally not one bad thing about this amazing restaurant. I can go over and over and never tire of it. May be the best sushi in NYC. As for mood, you can’t beat it and they are always a pleasure. We did the tasting menu, they catered to allergy with no sneers and every course was delicious. Can’t get enough of Nobu.

Fantastic server who knew the menu in and out and was extremely attentive.(Really wish I knew his name). Lovely hostess. Quality food. Vegan options. 5 out of 5. I ordered a mushroom salad which was delicious and surprisingly so filling. I also ordered veggie skewers(vegetable kushiyaki) which came with the anticucho sauce(since the teriyaki isn’t vegan) and had a lovely tangy flavor(fyi the prices on the website menu are diff from the prices in the restaurant). Ordered a manhattan up and my friend ordered a rose. Both drinks came out quickly and complemented our food. I highly recommend this restaurant.

For Nobu next door. Do you want to know where spoiled 6-yr old Manhattanites hang out on a 830 pm on a Saturday night? Yes! That’s right! Nobu next door! The atmosphere sucks, and I would not bring a date here unless you want to have the kid next to you shining a flashlight in your face while their detached mother looks at their phone.(I’m not anti-kids but really? at 830 on a Saturday night??) I usually skip the negative reviews in Unilocal but hear me out. I wish I did more research before dropping $ 400 for 2 ppl($ 140 and a drink each) for their tasting menu here. Having lost their Michelin star way back when, this place was at best uninventive. The omakase was boring and frankly extremely disappointing for the price point. The omakase started out promising with a toro tartar topped with caviar in a bit of a heavy handed wasabi soy sauce, but then spiraled out of control. A $ 140 dollar tasting menu included 4 pieces of sushi and 3 pieces of sashimi. We both found ourselves saying that’s it? And none of the pieces were even close to being mind blowing. Then they moved right along to this mayonnaisey mess of fried tempura lobster(which can basically be found in every major white-washed Americanized strip mall sushi chain). The one star of the tasting menu was the miso cod, but it couldn’t even save it. Then it ended with a chocolate molten cake with green tea ice cream. Okay no one hates lava cake, but it was so boring. You know exactly what it will taste like! Unimpressed! They might as well have microwaved it and given it to me. I felt like I was at some fake Japanese commercialized version of the Cheesecake factory. This place might have been hot ten years ago, but it seems they haven’t bothered to keep up with the times. There are way more delicious fusion and authentic Japanese places in the city. SAVEYOURMONEY! The most disappointing meal I’ve had in the last three years in the city. Apparently I’m not the only one who thinks so as the restaurant was more than half empty most of the night.

A trendy place with a «go to be seen» vibe. Food is good(not the best sushi in Tribeca) and cocktails are always strong. Yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño is a must try for an appetizer. Rock shrimp, wagyu beef, and molten chocolate cake with matcha ice cream are a few of my favorite items. Servers are so nice, but aggressive with the up sell. Upscale vibe with loud music and very dim lights. Good for date nights or celebratory dinners.

This review is for Nobu next door. We had heard so much about Nobu so when restaurant week came around, we decided to give it a try. However the final experience left a lot to be desired. The main issue we had was that the food was largely hit and miss. For the appetizer we got the rock shrimp and the scallops. The scallops were tasty but the portions were hilariously small. Maybe 4 – 5 paper thin slices. The rock shrimp had a nice creamy dressing but was spoilt by too much yuzu. We also got the nobu tacos which were decent but pricey. For the main course, we got the short rib which was very well cooked and accompanied by a delicious sauce, but again the portion size was small. My wife got the sushi, which was excellent! Easily the best sushi we have had anywhere! For dessert we got the tiramisu cup which was delicious. The service is good and the lighting is dim and intimate, but the dining room really suffers from a lack of space. The tables were 2 inches apart, no kidding. We could hear the intimate details of our neighbors conversation quite clearly while the ones on the other side seemed like they were almost part of our table! I’m used to tables being close to each other but this takes it to a whole new level.

Reservation is only for parties of 2 or more people, and since I’m by myself today, they told me to just walk in. There were plenty of seating available at 6, so I easily snatched a seat at the sushi bar. Five sushi chefs worked at the sushi counter, four of which are Japanese. I ordered the sashimi dinner($ 40) which is 14 pieces of chef’s choice, and comes with miso soup and white rice. I wonder if I’m spoiled by the Japanese food I have in California, Taiwan, and Japan, but bottom line is: Nobu is just ok. The good is fine, and the service is fine. Nothing to rave about and i won’t return.

Birthday Dinner— I ordered the lamb chops as a entrée and Tuna Rolls as an appetizer. I enjoyed the lamb chops, but felt like I needed more meat, less starch. The Tuna Rolls tasted average and the cocktails were weak. Great service and ambience but not worth $ 150.

Date night with friends — party of 10… the waiter suggested we do family style, which was a great idea. The cold appetizers and miso cod were delicious. We. as the entire party, agreed the sushi we had was just as good as a local any good sushi places. — Sushi and rolls fell short. — still delicious but not the expectation we had for«NOBU.» When the bill came we were pleasantly surprise it was over $ 3K. This did not include tip. Overall, we had a great time with friends and the staff was great. My husband even got boobed grazed by some lady who was wearing too tight of a red dress, which the entire table thought she was an escort. PS… Uni was FANTASTIC!!!

This is quite possibly one of the best restaurant experiences I have had. I visited Nobu with a group of 8 and had no idea what to expect! I had heard great reviews about this place and knew that my family was going to be very lucky to be able to enjoy this meal! I loved the atmosphere of Nobu. It was loud with great music, but also felt cozy. Our waiter was truly amazing. He advised us to try a tasting menu, which considered of about 4 – 5 cold appetizers, 4 – 5 hot appetizers and then finished with sushi rolls. He personalized our tasting menu to allow us to choose some dishes, as well as sampling the most famous. I can honestly say every piece of food I tried at this restaurant was amazing. The presentation was fantastic and our waiter did the perfect job of portioning so that we all were able to experience each dish without being overly full. I felt like this was almost an artistic food experience. I have never done a tasting menu like this and just am beyond impressed. It is not cheap by any means, but it is worth it. The wine selection is also phenomenal. I would truly love to dine at Nobu again! Simply amazing.

The restaurant itself wasn’t quite what I was expecting, but the food lived up to the hype and that’s what matters. The interior is nice, if a little dated and I really wasn’t expecting so many children. We had a table next to us celebrating a 6-year old’s birthday because Nobu is his«favorite». Okay. Well, the birthday boy ate about 2 bites of a California roll and then proceeded to be annoying AF while his parents(a Patrick Bateman lookalike and his I-need-a glass-of-wine-and-a-Xanax wife) ignored his antics. Whatever. Since we hadn’t been before, we asked our server for suggestions and he definitely delivered. We started with a sashimi salad — the tuna was incredible, though the salad was nothing special. Next up was«crispy rice» which was fried rice squares that you top with minced tuna — fun and tasty. That was followed by rock shrimp tempura with ponzu — better than your average tempura, very light and crisp. Our final dish(before sushi) was the miso cod. Oh. My. God. That cod is EVERYTHING. I do not like fish skin even the littlest bit but I swear that I would eat a giant basket of that cod skin like potato chips if it was allowed. Amazing. We finished with a mixed sushi plate — you can really taste the difference in quality here. Every piece was flavorful, absolutely fresh and expertly cut. The rice was perfect — just the right amount of vinegar, loosely packed, everything sushi should be. It’s going to be very hard to back to our usual sushi place, that I know. Service was great — really spot on with recommends and attentive. The prices are on the high side, but you are getting top quality. Just leave the kids at home, okay?

I came here with a friend on a Saturday night. I made the reservation ~1 week in advance because it’s ~Nobu~. We were expecting a star-studded restaurant with all of the raves Nobu gets for being a celebrity favorite. We walked in to find a swanky restaurant that was surprisingly full of families. Nonetheless, Nobu was an enjoyable experience. The wait staff was very courteous and helpful. We ordered the Seafood Ceviche and Rock Shrimp Tempura with Spicy Sauce thanks to the recommendation of our waitress. The meal was fresh and delectable and did not take too long. Overall I loved the food but I am not sure why celebrities choose to dine here over other great restaurants in NYC. Beats me but if you are in the area and are looking for quality seafood definitely make a reservation.

Finally dined at Nobu the other weekend after years of meaning to check it off my list. And while it was a high quality time, I think the food is a bit overhyped. We came for reservations on a Friday night and were seated immediately. When you walk into Nobu you can’t help but feel… important. The décor is elegant yet not too stuffy, and both the patrons and staff are so, so good looking. Seriously, wow. The service was also spectacular. It’s always nice to see waiters constantly checking to make sure every table has the right setup, that water glasses are full, etc. But the food was less consistent. We ordered: –Yellowtail sashimi with jalapeño –Tuna and salmon sashimi special –Rock shrimp –Miso Cod –Sushi dinner My favorites of the night were the yellowtail sashimi and the miso cod. Believe the other reviews, that miso cod is cooked to perfection. However, it was served luke warm and I would have preferred it hot. My dining partner loved the tuna and salmon sashimi special, though it was more on the average-side for me. We both agreed the rock shrimp and sushi dinner were a letdown. The rock shrimp was just okay, nothing you can’t get at a more reasonably-priced establishment(or at Buddakan… theirs is still definitely the best). And given Nobu’s reputation, the sushi should have been more inventive and the fish itself, far better quality. Overall, I’m glad I finally get to cross Nobu off my list but I can’t say I’m rushing to return.

Occasion: dinner Ambience: comfortably chic Drink: Melon Martini(OMG so good! Melon-ly sweet, refreshing) Food: Omakase highly recommend: Sea Urchin Tempura Sweet shrimp sushi and Grilled Miso Black cod Menu: King crab taco: light, rich crab essence with a crunch Toro tartar: what stands out to me was actually the green fruit aside as the refresher. Absolutely love the tangy, sweet, and out of this world flavor Kampachi Spanish macrel: the sauce was savory sweet which stands out to me Oyster Snapper Sushi sampler Otoro: wasn’t fatty enough Horse macrel: OK Orange scallop: OK Sweet shrimp: soft, naturally sweet complimented well with the crunchy fried lotus root and shiso leaf King salmon: salmon was very good quality but the flavor was not memorable black miso cod with grilled foie gras: the second best piece of grilled black cod I’ve ever had in my life, next to the grilled blakc cod from Sushi Yasuda. The Foie Gras was flavorful but the grease didn’t quite go too well with the already fatty cod in my opinion Wagyu beef: The presentation was better than the taste Ramen noodle soup: Soup was naturally rich in flavors due to the varieties of mushrooms used. The noodle was quite different from the usual ramen noodles– more like rice noodles in this case Additions: Spider rolls Sea Urchin Sashimi Sea Urchin Tempura: Firs time ever trying uni tempura. The fragrance and sweetness was enhanced by the heat. Delicious! Dessert: Mango sorbet Green tea ice-cream and lava brownie Desserts were good quality but not memorable

We had the highest level omakase at this restaurant. It is extremely good, but also very expensive. Some of the dishes are quite subtle, like the monk fish liver which I would not have thought would be a star but it works and works extremely well. We liked the sushi as much as the cooked dishes. All were well balanced. Service was attentive and polished. The question becomes whether it is ultimately worth the price and it really comes down to a matter of preference, perhaps with some deference to the fact that this is one of the first of a kind type restaurants in New York. If this meal were served at another restaurant without the«Nobu» name, I think I would have rated it a 4 or 4.5.

Tried Nobu during restaurant week, so this review is a bit delayed. I think I was just so overwhelmed by the experience that I procrastinated on it. Décor, service, and presentation were superb, as expected. The thing that stood out most to me was the freshness of the ingredients. Usually, I can tell when I’m eating fish — it has that hint of the sea. The fish at Nobu made me question all of my previous fish-eating experiences. There was no «fishy» flavor or smell. Never knew I liked fish so much. I started with the black cod miso lettuce wrap. Actually blew my mind. The cod was soft and coated with a scrumptious sweet and sour sauce. It was perfect with the crisp lettuce cups and crunchy rice noodles. Ordered the umami chicken as my appetizer. Although it had excellent flavor, the meat was a bit fatty for my preference. My friend, however, ordered the assorted sushi, which was *amazing*. The sashimi had an amazingly smooth texture that was perfect with the sticky rice. For dessert, we tried the pear almond cream tart and tiramisu. The crust of the tart was flaky and buttery, and the slightly sour pear flavor gave it an edge. The tiramisu was served in an adorable espresso cup. The strong, coffee-soaked ladyfingers and the chocolate powder balanced the rich cream. A divine end to the dining experience.

Same here for my anniversary dinner… so we are going to go all out to get the most expensive tasting menu… the verdict? it’s good… but not extraordinary… The place looks very fancy… very nice decoration and the service is very very nice… I mean this is very nice restaurant, and they should really have good service and nice decoration right??? Food is good… i mean really not extraordinary… some of them are amazing — like the black cod… but some are a bit blend(or too chewy) — like the kobe beef… i was excited about kobe beef, but i think they overcook it a little so it was chewy instead of melt in your mouth… that was a bit disappointing… sushi is ok, and the dessert is ok… like i said… it’s ok, just not what i expected… i guess my expectation is a bit too high…

Came here with a couple of friends to celebrate and sample their dishes! Pros: — Tuna Tatami Salad — my first time eating tuna and holy moly the tuna melted in my mouth — so fresh and delicious — highly recommend this dish! — Salmon, tuna, and king crab tacos were pretty good though a bit dry — Sea urchin — delicious; we believed it could’ve tasted better if the sea urchin was wrapped in spinach(as intended, but they ran out of spinach) but it was wrapped in cabbage — Softshell crab and spicy tuna rolls — both AMAZING! Needless to say we had to order more of it — Matcha tiramisu — so gooooooooood — Great service — waiter is always coming around to make sure we are not lost — Bathrooms were clean Cons: — Bigeyed bluefin toro scallion roll — ugh way too fishy for my liking and the texture was horrible — Creamy spicy crab — according to my friend there were large chunks of imitation crab in it — for the price we were disappointed — Baby Abalone — way too salty; really wished it wasn’t so salty because the texture was great — Earl grey duet — compared to the matcha tiramisu, tiramisu was definitely better — We were seated in the darkest part of the restaurant — made it really difficult to read the menu(had to use the flashlight on my phone — yes I blinded everyone at the table who got accustomed to the dim lighting)

I went here for restaurant week lunch last Friday, and it was packed! It took a little while to get seated, and the service was a little slow, but it was pretty busy and I didn’t mind waiting a little as I was catching up with my friend. The atmosphere was trendy, with unique decorations all around. I got the black cod miso on lettuce for the appetizer, and it was amazing! It melts in your mouth, and the sauce complimented it really well. For the main dish, I got the assorted sushi. The sushi definitely tasted fresh, but it was not the strongest part of the meal. My friend got the umami chicken for her entrée, and it was a really large portion. For white meat, it was definitely really tender, and I rather liked it, but definitely wouldn’t have been able to finish it. For dessert, we shared the ginger pear almond tart and the tiramisu. They were both really good — the tart was a unique twist with the ginger and the crust was really good, and the tiramisu was fluffy and had just the right amount of cream with a subtle taste of squash. Overall, I would come here again for restaurant week!

4.5 stars. Definitely understand what the hype is all about. Nobu manages to combine traditional with sexy, which is exactly what they advertise. The inside is a charming combination of traditional Japanese décor with a sleek cocktail bar-y vibe toned down just a bit by the plants/coziness of the place. Came here with my work friends during Restaurant Week to get their amazing lunch deal. It did not disappoint! I started with the miso cod. Absolute perfection. The cod melted in my mouth and vaporized in a pile of delight. It came on top of a bed of lettuce/what looked like tiny crunchy noodles and we were instructed to eat both of them«like a taco.» Such a heavenly start! For the main I opted for the assorted sushi. It is obvious that the fish is high quality and fresh. They also very traditionally included wasabi under the fish and on top of the rice(actually made me appreciate wasabi a bit more even though I usually detest it). The portions were extremely generous and overall I thought the sushi was very solid. Finally, I ended with the pear tart dessert. Pretty light as desserts go. I didn’t think it really stuck out in my mind as spectacular but a good way to finish off the lunch. Service here is extremely friendly and efficient. The vibe of the restaurant is not super fancy so it’s not really fine dining type service, but all of the waiters are waitresses are great about explaining things and making you feel welcome. I definitely want to come back at some point and do the real deal, but very glad to have this introduction via Restaurant Week!

If you’re wondering what restaurant to check off your list for restaurant week, THISISIT! From the moment I walked in, I knew I would love Nobu. The entrance is subtle and unassuming, while the inside is comfortable and elegant. It fuses traditional Japanese décor with the trendiness of a modern dining room. For my appetizer, I started with the black miso cod. This was my favorite piece of the entire meal. The cod was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of miso glaze. Every bite melted in my mouth.(I’m still dreaming about it as I write my review!) For my main entrée, I chose the assorted sushi. It came with 6 different pieces of nigiri and 6 pieces of tuna maki. The quality of fish is among the highest that I’ve had in the city. Even the seaweed on the maki tasted extra flavorful. Finally for dessert, I chose the pear almond tart with ginger. As with most Asian desserts, this tart is on the light side and doesn’t have the dense butteriness or sweetness of most American desserts. I thought it was a great way to wrap up my meal, and I appreciated that this did not leave me in a food coma, but it definitely did not stand out compared to the appetizer or entrée in any way. From refilling our cups with warm matcha tea to placing our chopsticks carefully on the pieces of stones, our waitress delivered an impeccable service. I would highly recommend making a reservation(2 weeks in advance is optimal) as soon as you can!

Came here for Restaurant Week lunch as I’ve been wanting to try Nobu at a fairly reasonable price. Love restaurants that participate in Restaurant Week and actually put their regular menu items on their Restaurant Week menu! I mean, it’s a cop out if they didn’t because you’re not really experiencing the restaurant and their famous dishes otherwise. I definitely recommend making reservations because the restaurant was packed despite how spacious the venue is. I ordered: — Sashimi Salad with Matsuhisa Dressing I really wanted to order the Black Cod Miso on Limestone Lettuce, but the sashimi aspect was appealing to me, so I went against my gut and ordered the salad instead. Major regrets because I wasn’t really a fan of the salad. The«sashimi» wasn’t really sashimi; it was two pieces of seared tuna. Also, the salad was overdressed with the Matsuhisa dressing that was too bitter for my liking. Thankfully, my friend gave me one of his Black Cod with Miso lettuce wraps. The wrap was soooooo good! I love cod with miso and this was by far the best one I’ve had! The cod came with crunchy fried onions? on top that complimented the cod so well. ORDERTHECODINSTEAD! — Assorted sushi This was your standard sushi set with 6 pieces of sushi(salmon, yellowtail, white fish, kani, tuna, and Japanese mackerel), along with a tuna roll. The fish were all fresh. My favorite was the kani as it was a large piece and didn’t taste like your standard frozen imitation crab. I love how the rice stuck to all the fish and didn’t fall off! — Kabocha Tiramisu I had high expectations for this dessert as several Unilocalers raved about it. For those of you who don’t know, Kabocha is a winter squash; each bite had a piece of squash, adding some texture to the dish. I’m usually not a tiramisu fan, but I LOVED Nobu’s tiramisu. It was perfectly creamy with a great hint of chocolate as the cocoa powder really stood out. This was my favorite dish out of the entire meal! My friend ordered the Pear Almond Cream Tart with Ginger Cream. I didn’t care to try this dish because I was too busy scraping off every last bite of the tiramisu. My only compliant was that it came in a small cup, leaving me wanting a whole lot more :( With tax and tip, the bill came to about $ 32 each, which is a steal for dining at Nobu. A great Restaurant Week choice!

I came to Nobu Next Door with reservations for 2 on a Friday night. Seating was a little tight, but overall the atmosphere was modern and trendy. We decided to do the Restaurant Week menu($ 38). Appetizers: –Scallop Tiradito: The sauce was a little too sour for my taste, but it was good for a light appetizer. –Rock Shrimp Tempura w/Creamy Spicy Sauce: Lightly fried and not too spicy. I preferred this over the scallop. Main Course: –Black Cod with Miso: Small portion but still delicious. Flaky, moist, and a slightly sweet miso glaze. –Shortribs with Jalapeño Salsa: Served over rice in a hot stone pot, good portion size. Very tasty and savory. Desserts: –Kabocha Tiramisu: A little small and I didn’t taste much kabocha. Very airy and slightly sweet. –Pear Almond Cream Tart with Ginger Cream: The pear and ginger were a yummy combination. I preferred this over the tiramisu. Don’t expect to be completely full from the RW dinner, but it’s worth a visit. Service was also excellent. I would like to come back again to try their other dishes.

Restaurant Week sushi pieces are way smaller than non-Restaurant Week sushi, in my opinion. Also, they have a great lunch option for $ 45 – 50 that includes soup, salad, sushi and a hot dish such as balsamic teriyaki salmon(excellent) or lobster with vegetables. Love the option of both sushi and a hot entrée.

Restaurant week review. Had the sashimi salad, assorted sushi, and kambocha tiramisu. The sashimi salad is three seared slabs of tuna, and a bitter/sour/sweet dressing glazed over some greens. It was a bit more sour than I would have liked but the seared tuna was pretty great. The assorted sushi is 6 pieces of sushi and 6 pieces of a small tuna roll, with gari on the side of course. I really liked that the rice to fish ratio was perfect. THETIRAMISUIS A MUST. It’s sweet but not overly drenched in syrup. The cup looks tiny but it’s actually a pretty good size to enjoy the dessert and stop before you get sick of the sweetness. It was a light dinner overall so I felt no guilt inhaling the tiramisu. Hey, if you are an average 20-something in NYC that’s saving close to nothing, this probably won’t be somewhere you frequent. But if it’s a special night — birthday perhaps — it would be a great choice to have an intimate meal.

I had a restaurant week lunch here today and found little to complain about. We were seated right upon entering for our noon reservation. The restaurant was about half full at that point, but the waiter staff was attentive and on point answering our questions. You get an appetizer, entrée, and desert for $ 25. The hot tea is included, so all in all, not a bad price for a typically pricey shop. The appetizer I ordered was a black cod miso wrapped in lettuce and it was delicious and toasty, the perfect temperature after braving the 20 degree cold to walk here. Their were 2 other entrée choices, but everyone in my party opted for the Assorted sushi. It was a tuna roll, and 6 other varied pieces. Everything was extremely fresh, although I’d like to come back and try one of their Chef’s specials, where he picks what you eat. The tiramisu(surprisingly), may have been my favorite part of the experience. It wasn’t overly sweet and the texture was awesome. If you’re looking for a nice restaurant week lunch(and they only offer lunch), then Nobu should be high on your list.

I have heard and passed Nobu several times, and am glad that I got to give it a try during restaurant week(if even just for lunch). Upon entering for a 12 noon reservation there was already a line for the coat check, but we were seated very quickly. Complimentary Green tea was provided(with ample refills). The decour was elegant yet chill, with a sushi bar open to the public where at least 4 – 5 chefs were hard at work preparing different rolls. I started with the Black Cod Miso on Limestone Lettuce as my appetizer. The Cod was well seasoned and fit into the lettuce like a wrap. The sushi platter was my entrée choice, and it was fresh with a tuna roll and a few assorted choices. The presentation of the rolls could have been a little better, based on what I expected, but the taste and way the wassabi was mixed into each roll more then made up for it. The desert may have been the main draw, as the Kabocha Tiramisu made me savor each bite. Despite what I have had at other restaurnt week meals, Nobu really didn’t skimp on portions for the restaurnt week. It wasn’t a ton of food, but more then I expected for a 3 course lunch pre-fix at $ 25. The service was swift and the waiter made some good suggestions. I think I would like to return here for a dinner and sample some of the more speciality sushi rolls, all though I better make sure I bring 3 or 4 times what I spent on restaurant week :).

Cost: $ 150+/person Vibes: 4⁄5 Décor: 5⁄5 Location: 4⁄5 Monkfish Liver Pâté. *DROPSMIC* It’s 2016, if you’re not on the sushi at this point, you’re probably pressing last on your TV remote going from WWE Wrestling and Fox News. Point is: You come to Nobu because you have a love for sushi and need to know what the next level is like. Quality, Flavors, Presentation Dishes had Latin, Indian, Italian influences(plates I ordered) all through the sushi scope. It was an experience. A really good experience. I had as much of the menu as I could stand, for you, not for me. Nobu TriBeCa is casual but dressy. You can get by on streetwear but style it up a bit, dig? My table of 10(3 hour limit) got pretty rowdy at certain points, but we didn’t stand out at all. Everyone is doing their thing so the vibes were good. Recommend: Yellowtail w/jalapeño Tuna tartare Fluke w/garlic chips King Crab Tempura Salmon Sashimi Sashimi: I’m not a big fan of salmon, but it was the best out of the pieces I tried. I went on a date here about a year ago, and I enjoyed it very much. The scenery is gorgeous and the people are very respectable and kind. I would definitely recommend if you go there to try the rock shrimp. The greatest I’ve ever tasted. The one con I have is that I feel like they are so over priced, but if sushi and seafood are your thing then it’s definitely worth your money. This was definitely just a one time thing for me and I’m glad to have experienced it.

Being a little wary of high end and expensive restaurants, I was a little skeptical of this place. All I knew of this place was that(a) my boyfriend wanted to eat and try here and(b) it’ll be expensive. Stepping in, the large area was nice and friendly. We got there early and was seated right away. The waiter gave us an explanation on how we should order as well as what it would be like to get the omakase. In the end, we ordered the $ 95 lunch omakase and when my boyfriend said we would like one more roll, the waiter told us to wait until our course was finished. He said it should fill us up without need for extra. I liked that aspect since other places may just tell us to order more to rack up more for our bills. Spoiler alert: he was correct. We didn’t need anything additional. They started us off with a complimentary handroll to clear our palates and it was delicious. What followed was 2 appetizers, 2 cold dishes, 2 hot dishes, a soup and our dessert(with a complimentary dessert as well). The beginning courses took little to no time to come to us but as service picked up, it became a little slower. Perhaps it was a way to let us slowly digest what was already given to us. I’m not entirely sure but somehow, our lunch became 2 hours. I thought at max, it would be 90 minutes. Overall, the meal was delicious. As a person who isn’t a fan of oysters, I ate all 4 that was given to me. It wasn’t my favorite but the sauce that accompanied the oysters made it good. Would I order that if I was just given the menu? Probably not but I’m glad I gave it a try. The plate of sashimi also had me a little worried. I’m usually not a big fan of sashimi because of how it is prepared BUT at Nobu, they made me fall in love with fatty tuna, mackeral, snow crab and salmon sashimi. After devouring the salmon, I just wanted another piece to savor the taste. As well as the tuna and mackeral — everything. The following courses were also lovely — especially the«squid» pasta — which gave off a very pleasant aroma(it’s scent alone can make my mouth water), the dessert of a lava cake with matcha ice cream and their complimentary chocolate dusted nuts. If I was given a chance to come again, I would order off the menu just to try their other meal offerings — and perhaps order a few selected pieces of sashimi and sushi to accompany my meal.

If you know me… you know i’m a Crispy Rice connoisseur. I scout out the best spots for Crispy Rice and visit as many as physically possible. Nobu has very interesting Crispy Rice. They service Crispy Rice pops. Basically it’s little sticks with cubes of the crispy rice and then they serve a bowl of spicy tuna for you to dip the pop in. It’s a great idea, but a little difficult to eat. The rock shrimp tempura is also awesome here and they have great cocktails! Of course it’s Nobu and people go for the trendy atmosphere, but they do happen to have excellent food. All fish is very high quality and I remember just a simple tuna roll was delicious! It is a on the pricier side, but hey it is Nobu and you get what you pay for.

Pure Disappointment Food — 2⁄5 Value — N/A(Fixed) Service — 3⁄5 Décor — 3⁄5 Ambience — 1⁄5 I came here for lunch with some of my colleagues for the summer Restaurant week 2015. Needless to say we were looking forward to it for weeks since reservation was made as Nobu is known to be classy and serves top-notch Japanese food. At the end of the meal I was very disappointed by the quality of the food Nobu has to offer. Although we did not pay at the usual price tag thanks to Restaurant Week NYC, it will be completely unprofessional of them to serve us second-tied food — unless what we had was already at their best — however one of my colleagues also mentioned that he had a much better experience previously at the Midtown Nobu. Aside from the food, we were seated at the farthest deepest darkest end of the restaurant, in which throughout the meal we were having a hard time seeing the menu, food, and even the person next to you(not the good kind of ambience). Restaurant Week — Lunch(25 $) Appetizer: Black Cod Miso on Limestone Lettuce — 2 pieces of lettuce each cupping a bite-size cod fish patty(?) did not taste good in anyways Entrée: Assorted Sushi — 6 pieces of assorted sushi(lean tuna, yellowtail, salmon, fluke, seared horse mackerel(?), and crab stick — a tuna roll — The sushi rice was seasoned and moist but the fish quality was just okay and not that fresh as each fish individually has no distinct flavor(bland) and I felt like I was eating repeats. Best piece was the salmon. I could easily get the same tuna-roll else where. Panna Cotta topped with Pistachio and strawberry Jam — too sweet — the candied pistachio topping was a nice touch
