I live nearby and have been going to Nighthawks since it opened. At first there were some growing pains but now everything on the menu(i’ve tried quite a few) is fabulous and the presentation exquisite. Highly recommend. Prices are great for the quality. I love to share an appetizer and then order entrée. we’ve discussed maybe next time actually order appetizers as entrée too. I consider prices very fair, not like other restaurants around the meat market and West Village. Treat yourself! Try it.(the grilled octupos salad is highly recommended)

I went in this past Sunday for bunch and will not go back Service was a 1 /10– inattentive service and there was a total of 3 tables in the entire restaurant Food –5 out 10. My salmon burger was tasteless and the side salad mediocre. My friend lobster wrap was so so, in his own words. My friend kept having to ask for a drink on 4 different occoasions, and what made it more frustrating was that, we were the only tbl left at one point . Cute space, terrible service and subpar food. Never again, thank you.

Great restaurant in a great location with friendly staff and an awesome drink menu. The ambiance is great here and after having done a few of my events here I can say I really do enjoy being a regular here!

This place was fabulous. We had used a voucher from pulsd which included 2 entrees and a bottle of wine. We chose the baked lobsters & the stuffed salmon and they were both really delicious. This place has a great ambiance and a really cook raw bar, which they took our lobster off to eat! The dishes were carefully prepared and looked like works of art! We chose the Pinot Noir which paired well well with both of our entrees. Overall great experience and definitely will be back… the table next to us had a couple of entrees & appetizers(like their calamari/mussels) that I would love to try! Great experience there!

I went to Nighthawks using a pulsd voucher and had an absolutely amazing meal. The service was exceptional — they were very knowledgable about the restaurants history and the menu. We had a bottle of wine, the stuffed lobster, and the salmon. The stuffed lobster was exceptional!!! Such amazing presentation. All of the seafood was extremely fresh! Highly recommend the pulsd voucher — I don’t know any other restaurant where you can get great stuffed lobster for such a good price. Enjoy!

Came for after dinner drinks and dessert. Bartender made a fantastic White Russian. I had the Yogurt Meli which was fresh and knowing it was yogurt made it seem less guilty. Husband had the lava cake which was fantastic as well. Restaurant had great ambiance for a Sunday night. Waitstaff was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Food was good and service was good but they did not honor their Pulsd deal. They only gave us one choice of entrée when the Pulsd said we could choose from the menu. I sat there and looked it up and showed the waitress the exact text and she said other people had complained about that. You don’t say, I can only imagine other people have complained about that! The shrimp salad was a salad with ONE shrimp on the top, I am not joking, literally one shrimp. The lobster soup had NO lobster in it, it didn’t even taste like lobster. Tasted like good soup, but I would have never guessed lobster was any part of it. Oh, the Pulsd also said choice of appetizers from the full dinner menu but they gave us a very limited list to choose from. Service was good, drinks were good, place is nice, the food that we received tasted good and fresh but it was pretty much what they decided to give us, not what we wanted or anticipated when we purchased the deal. This is the actual text from the Pulsd deal that we purchased(copied and pasted): «1 Appetizer from the Full Dinner Menu.» «1 Entrée Choice from: Traditional Thanksgiving Turkey Meal, Vegetarian Thanksgiving Meal or any entrée from the Full Dinner Menu or Exclusive Seafood Menu.» «All selections are made from the restaurant’s full dinner menu or exclusive seafood menu.»

Food: 4 Service: 5 Ambiance: 4 This restaurant was perfect to drop into on a rainy evening for drinks/dessert. Perhaps due to the inclement weather or the new-ness of the place, there were only a few other people here, which made it perfect for a comfy, intimate chat. This place is billed as a seafood restaurant here, but there are plenty of non-seafood options, too. It’s situated on a corner with huge windows. The décor, dim lighting, and cozy, intimate ambiance were nice. There are 3 seating options:(1) stools at the bar,(2) nice window-side wooden booths, and(3) the combo of one long couch + comfy chairs. We had the latter, which was perfect on our night, though on a busy night we would’ve found ourselves seated in close proximity to neighbors, per the usual NY dining scene. We were fascinated with the iced seafood display — fish, octopus, various sea creatures available on that day’s menu. I personally could have done without seeing a whole octopus on ice(iiiiicck), but you might like it. –Chocolate Lava Cake($ 9):. They were out of vanilla ice cream, so offered one of the gelatos instead. We went with the chocolate gelato — SO good! It was dusted w/cinnamon, which I’ve surprisingly never had before. It should be done more often! Our brunette server(I forgot her name!) was seriously the sweetest server I’ve ever encountered — in NY or elsewhere. We felt so well taken care of! :) I’d definitely return for lunch or dinner here one day. Btw, thanks to the Unilocalers for explaining the origin of the name Nighthawks, which doesn’t fit the cuisine or ambiance here. Pics go a long way!

DONOTORDER from here. I haven’t tried going to the restaurant to eat but do not order the vodka penne a la vodka. The pasta was soggy by the time it came(though probably all pasta would be the same) and it tasted like a $ 6 pasta that you can get from the grocery store. I also got the extra Jumbo shrimp for an extra $ 9 because I thought it would be too plain by itself. It came with 3 medium sized shrimps that were over-cooked. There’s no way you can justify an extra $ 9 for 3 over-cooked shrimps(even if they were cooked to perfection not worth $ 9). I also ordered 3 oysters but it only came with one(which was warm because it was on top of the pasta box, you’d think they would bag that separately…). Now I have to wait to get the other 2. *Update: they sent the other 2 pretty quickly and included a free oyster so that brings it up to 2 stars for the service + it was iced this time. The cocktail sauce was too chunky and sweet though”

Update I loved Nighthawks when they first opened, but BOY do not order from them! I ordered dinner from them tonight, and it was a terrible. First it took over an hour and a half to arrive, salmon was way overcooked(which I forgave since delivery can be tough to get salmon to the right temperature), the seafood pasta was dried out and not fresh(the«fresh basil» was dark brown), and the eggplant salad tasted weird. None of the things I ordered were enjoyable, it tasted as though everything had been sitting around for hours. Highly disappointed.

Came here for brunch and it was fantastic. The food was amazing. I had poach eggs on bread with a salad on the side. Plus, the brunch drinks was flowing perfectly. It got real busy in the afternoon but definitely a place I would go back to again. Definitely recommend.

I’ve been to Nighthawks a couple of times. The ambiance of the restaurant, the food, the music and staff are all amazing. Last time I came here, my friend and I ordered a few appetizers to share. We had fried calamari, stuffed mushrooms and baked cheese. We loved all the appetizers and really liked how the cheese was flamed right at the table. That was pretty cool to watch. I ordered the dover sole and really loved the presentation of the dish. The fish was cooked to perfection. My friend ordered the stuffed salmon and he really liked it. For dessert I had greek organic yoghurt with honey and some berries. It was delicious. Food: Excellent. Served in a perfect pace. I never felt rushed. Décor: French bistro style. Feels a bit like Pastis used to feel except this place is smaller, more intimate. I love the lighting. Lots of candles. Interior design is very well thought out. Very comfortable seats. I love the display with seafood on ice. Music: Ambient music. Just perfect for the setting. Staff: Really on top of its game. Everybody is caring, dedicated and professional. All in all this place is a winner. I can’t wait to go back. :)

Was there one week ago. Coming from Portland I expected to have a great night in NY. It was, but unfortunately… We stumbled into this place… well priced menu(that’s all). We ordered penne alla vodka… the menu reports(fresh tomato sauce and basil…). Tomato was not fresh and there was not basil on our pasta. Who’s the chef I dunno, but I highly recommend to find a «good one». My friend got what was defined as «stuffed salmon»…grilled, gold and fresh(that’s what the waitress said)…not fresh, not grilled and dry, that’s what she said! There was a guy wearing a white shirt(the manager? if yes, he’d better find another job) who rudely gave us a table by the window. The waitress appeared after ten minutes and the food came out after 30 minutes… not a good service, not a good experience. I do not suggest this place, unless you« Unilocalers» are affected by masochism :-)

I’ve only ever had delivery from Nighthawks — and it’s always the same thing: the stuffed salmon. It’s delicious and the delivery is prompt. I really should get off my behind and head down to the actual establishment.

The boy is officially on restaurant picking time out after this one. Two in a row have not been great. He picked this place since getting a reseravation at Santina is almost impossible. I took a look at the reviews and thought it’d be cool to try. Located on a quiet corner in West Village, NightHawks was empty aside from one table on a Wednesday night. We started with a seafood platter and they brought out a bread basket with olive oil. The bread wasn’t anything special, but I devoured it since I was hungry. The quality of the seafood in the platter was subpar. For an entrée I ordered the Linguini FraDiavolo which had lobster while he ordered the Stuffed Salmon. I was hoping that the seafood I’d already eaten wouldn’t be any indication of how my dish would taste, given the price. I was wrong! The lobster was overcooked and tough while the sauce was kind of bland. I didn’t even eat the lobster. He wasn’t a fan of the salmon. To make things worse, the service was slow. Considering there were two additional tables when we left that’s pathetic. I won’t return to this restaurant. This is the West Village and there are so many better options for a meal.

A few months ago this opened as Classic Café but has been renamed Nighthawks and the menu had an expansion. It seems to be working as the place is getting busier and as an interested party(living a stone’s throw away) I must say I’m quite happy that this could turn into a neighborhood gem. It’s well made, belly filling, heart warming food. I’d call it cozy food with cozy décor. And very friendly service. A+ for the lamb meatballs, cavatelli with chicken and broccoli rabe(finally a pasta that’s fully loaded with veggies but not with sauce yet full of flavor), truffle risotto, and rigatoni sugo. There’s a Mediterranean flair to the menu so don’t skip out on the pita and dips.
