This library is old, with dark wood shelving and stairs, seeming to have more space than books. there was a decent crowd when I went in, mainly people sitting and reading and people at the computers. The collection of cookbooks and craft books are somewhat minimal, which may be because it’s on the edges of East Harlem at 125 close to not much of anything, much less people who want to take out cookbooks. There was a decent collection of dvds. The librarians seemed friendly. Worth 3 stars because it’s NYPL and free and seems to have updated computers and free WIFI and serves the nabe. Definitely not a destination library like MId Manhattan or Grand Army Plaza. I popped in to check out the collections and zipped right out. Still, it’s great to see any library.

Nice library located in eastern Harlem. It’s a little out of the way, but I decided to go here since they had a book that I needed. It’s very spacious, and clean. Free wifi, although it’s a bit spotty.

Nice library… My only complaint is there is no bathroom?

The toddler story time was really nice. They give away books and learning materials, and they have plenty of musical instruments and songs to sing. The woman who runs it is very nice and knowledgeable about children. I didn’t use the rest of the library, but if you have a wee one, drag them over there on Tuesday at 11:15AM.

This library is so disappointing. It is run down, too hot, and the people who work there seem too busy doing their personal things at work. The librarian was courteous and helpful which earns its 1 point and it is conveniently located near the 456 train as well(2 block walk).

I love this library! when i worked in harlem this was the branch i went to. it’s located in a great building with plenty of original details – the library has a nice renovated«children’s room». This place has books in english & spanish & a good african-american collection. This is the little library that could – there are wonderful children’s & young adult programs available here every week year round & if you are looking for decent used books on the cheap this is the place for you.
