New Generation Lighting

I’m confirming my two stars. The order did ship, but one of the four lights I ordered didn’t work. They wouldn’t do a retrun/​exchange so I had to buy a fifth fixture.

Once again i content that I have little no reason to ever go above 23^rd street.
Was contemplating going all the way up to 70^th to Gracious Home in search of Edison filament bulbs when we stopped into this incredibly clean, insanely organized, tremendously helpful, very well stocked store and found more than we needed.
There is a terrific selection of modern hanging and floor lamps here at prices that would mak CB2 choke. In addition to that we got these bulbs for $ 9 vs. the $ 14.99 online and the $ 9.99 (plus a round trip subway ride) to the UES.
mission accomplished and money saved.

New Generation has a really nice range of modern, budget friendly lights. We looked around at many of the other stores on Bowery, but couldn’t find anything similar to the lights that we liked.
Since we were buying quite a few lights (replacing all the lights in our town house), I gave the sales guy a charming smile, some puppy dog eyes, and a wink, and he gave us an additional 10% off (you gotta ask ;-)).
Before we picked the lights up, their staff opened all the boxes and asked us to inspect each one. We were really impressed with that, because the last thing you want to do is get home and realize you have a broken light (especially when home is VA: P).
I would have given them 4 stars, but I had a really bad experience with them over email — I asked for a quote and it was about $ 100 higher per light than what we were quoted in-​store. When I emailed them back to ask about it, I never got a response back (I re-​emailed them about 4 more times, but still no response). Normally I would decide not to buy from a company that treats their customers like that, but I really liked one of their lights (and we got a good deal when we asked for a better deal in the store).

This place looks brand spankin new, which is probably because it is! They have an excellent selection of modern lighting, and the sales people were nice, informative, and definitely not clingy (always a plus). The reason I only give it 3 stars is because I’m pretty sure that their prices are a good 15% higher than anyone else’s for the same stuff. After we saw a light for our island that we liked, we decided to see if anyone else had it. Sure enough, the place across the street had it… for $ 45 less! When stores are that close and have that much competition, it’s just annoying to find that one has been marking everything up much higher.
