N & S Manhattan Live Poultry

The staff are friendly its live poultry besides that all I can I say ist the guinea hens chickens roosters ducks turkey and rabbits are screaming for their lives

A bed-​ridden Chinese friend sent me here on a mission to procure chicken for her soup. Instead I got A chicken.
Turns out N&S is a little house of death. Of the sort you’d expect in Iowa, or maybe the outer-​boroughs. Surprising to find it in Manhattan itself.
I took out a contract on a colored 8-​pounder. The fellow reached into the pen and dragged one out by the feet, then deftly tied him upside down to the scale. Twenty minutes later I was asthmatic from the stench. But I had my chicken.
Judging by the line, this place has its regulars. And in addition to chicken, you can get rabbits, ducks, pheasants, and pigeons. The animals live in pretty close quarters –unclear whether they’re raised here or hauled in from fresher climes – but I really cannot judge how conditions here stack up relative to average. That said, if you go, go with your nose pinched, and maybe think twice about visiting in summer.
