3.75 stars Simple tiny room for a great price and great location. The rooms are renovated but the bed is very basic w/simple sheets that aren’t the best. The bathroom was super nice ironically. The only issue is that it was noisey… i heard owls, scratching hopefully not from mice, cats, trash being thrown into dumpster, the pipes… but I guess that’s NYC! The staff was super nice & friendly! Don’t plan on staying much in the room but other than that a great pick!

I had worked in travel for 25 years and did much travelling during that time. I have stayed at some fine and not so fine hotels. Two years ago I(having left the industry) visited NYC as a tourist. Booked this hotel and expected nothing because of it’s low price. Well, was I pleasantly surprised. I take a very early flight in. And I take the subway from JFK. I arrived at the Murray Hill at 9am. THEYLETMECHECKIN. I didn’t have to motor around until 3 or 4. I actually got into the room. Room, although small, was very nice. Bathroom was also VERY, VERY nice. The hotel is small but the front desk staff pays attention to detail, such as who comes in. You must be buzzed in. Liked it so much I’m staying again.

DONOTSTAYHERE! Yes, its cheap, but there are several other comparably priced rooms available within a couple of blocks that are vastly better in every way. The room was tiny, the toilet didn’t work properly, the window faced a brick wall, the walls were so thin that I could hear conversations in the next room.

HUGE rooms with a kitchen and close to the everything. Aged décor, elevators and rooms. Very clean and safe neighborhood and again huge rooms with a kitchen. no pool, excercise room or bellman just a room and no view.

now i don’t know who this nick p. character is, but i had a great stay at the murray hill inn. it was clean, i had a nice bathroom(attached to my room) the bed was comfortable and the staff was super helpful. yes it’s small. and yes, there’s no elevator. but for $ 85 a night??? i thought it was awesome. and you can’t beat the price or the location. i plan on staying here every time i go to NYC.

Despite my view onto a brick wall just 4 feet out the window, the tiny room and various states of disrepair, I thought the Murray Hill Inn was fine. When you get a bargin in NYC you hardly expect the Ritz. Slightly disconcerting seeing the reception in bullet proof glass though.
