This is the kind of place you think… how do they stay in business? There are so few other customers. Yet… the staff is there and ready to help. I have made dozens of keys here and they have all worked. Perhaps as important, the owner seems like a genuinely good guy. Never an awkward moment here. Just hope owner has a long lease or owns the building.

This is by far the best place to get your keys made. I’ve got my keys made at a lot of other places(trust me, I’ve wasted a lot of money elsewhere) before I finally found Mott Hardware and I’m definitely not going anywhere else. I’ve got over 50 keys made here in the past few months and the keys are always accurate. It really helps me save time too not going back to get keys remake. Not to mention their prices are very reasonable too! The people who work there are not only friendly but very knowledgable and ready to help you if you need anything at all. My only regret is that I didn’t find this gem of a place any sooner!

Came here many years ago and the experience was horrible. I had one of my mailbox keys made here and for some reason, it did not work. I simply went back and explained and hoped that a new one would be made. To my surprise, the old guy with glasses(i assume is the owner) muttered that my key was made in China or something? Really??? 1. Isn’t it a simple key replication? 2. Then why’d you make it in the first place? Before I was able to say another word, the man slammed my 75 cents on the counter and doesn’t say another word(maybe this will indicate how many years ago this experience was). There are plenty of hardware shops in Chinatown, there is no need to experience such awful service here.

There’s something about small hardware stores that make me want to dress in red, white, and blue and pump Lee Greenwood at full blast. I don’t think there’s anything more American than a neighborhood ally when home improvement calls, and this here Mott Hardware is just that: a throwback to a simpler era that’s withstood the test of time. Home Depot surely has just about everything you could ever imagine, but Mott Hardware does a nice job of having the essentials. Nuts and bolts, hammers, paints, etc… Just what you need, but not much more. For simple home sprucing, there’s a good chance they’ll have what you need. They close at 7:00pm most days, so be sure to get in there early.

When you think about the gentrification of neighbourhoods and big businesses pushing out the small businesses out of Manhattan, then there’s Mott Hardware. This small hardware store is like a landmark in Chinatown! This place has been around a long time, decades. The manager is pretty chill and knowledgeable. He’s got everything, and the service is personal and better than any Home Depot, Lowe’s whatever. If you have questions, he has answers. And this is the best place to make keys. They always fit. I’ve been to other places, and sometimes they don’t fit. Annoying. I come here when I need to pick up things for around my place. And if you’re a DIY person, this is the place for you too. Prices are very reasonable and competitive. Home Depot is more expensive sometimes, beware!

It was Friday and I needed to spackle/sand/paint a whole bunch of holes in my walls. Because I was feeling lazy and didn’t want to trek up to Home Depot I decided to hit the local hardware stores. Almost every store I went to was either closed or did not have what I needed. I was walking around exhausted when I came across Mott Hardware. Its a little corner shop that is just crammed to the top with everything you need. The guy working there seemed like the owner’s son and he was so incredibly helpful. I basically stood in one spot and said«1 quart flat white interior paint!» and he would go get that for me. Then«those mirror holder things!» and he ran and got that for me. And this continued. This isn’t a secret store it seems because there were quite a few people in there! Definitely try Mott Hardware before you trek up to Home Depot.
