I’ve been seeing Charlene for over 10yrs now. I’ve sent multiple people to her, she’s done my highlights, keratin treatment and color. This salon has got to be the most consistent place I’ve ever been to. And Charlene never seems to disappoint me.

I specifically told Charlene that I did not want anything to hurt, relax or destroy the natural curls in my hair. I like my curls. She claimed she was putting a conditioner on my hair that does not hurt the curl but help it. She put a keratine treatment (I did not know what keratine was) that damaged my curls completely. My hair has never been this straight. How in the world does a hair dresser do such a thing when you tell them specifically not to do it! I’m very upset because my hair is permanently damaged until it grows out.

Great little gem in NYC, go in for a blow out, cut or color from Candace— she’s great very professional, and super talented. She is sure to put you at ease and work with you on what ever you are looking to do!

I have had a cut, gloss, and blowout with Candace and she always does a fantastic job! I really like the way she balances listening to what you want with making suggestions based on her many years of experience. I never felt pressured the way I have at other salons. You feel like she’s doing what’s best for you and your hair. Her blowouts are amazing and I always get compliments after an appointment. I’ve jokingly referred to this phenomenon as the «Candace Effect» and I’ve recommended her to all my friends.

Candace cut my hair today, and I couldn’t be happier. She is very professional, and knew just what to do. I definitely recommend Candace!

Candace just moved to mint after 17 years in Denver — she is extremely talented at color and cut and her blow outs are the best I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried every drybar type place. She really listens to her clients and understands hair better than any other stylist I’ve ever been to. She’s also so easy to talk to that you feel like you have a new friend after one visit.

On a recommendation from a friend I tried Candace. She worked some great magic on my hair. Be gone brassy color, distinctive root line. She spent the time to find out what I wanted, listened carefully and then executed my vision well. She gave me a natural look (Which is what I asked for), lightened the color just right and gave me a great cut and blow out, and I walked out feeling awesome. Just the way it should be right? I will be back…

Yesterday, I saw Candace for a great haircut. Not only was the cut/​blow-​out great, she took the time to explain my styling options for the cut and even asked me to demonstrate what she explained, so that she could give me further pointers on technique. Today, I went to work after sleeping on my hair without further touching it up, and I can’t remember the last time that so many people complimented me on a haircut. I highly recommend Candace!

Absolutely fantastic! Got my hair cut from Brittni and she was very hospitable. My first time and absolutely loved my hair cut (so did my girlfriend). Definitely going there again and then again! Very professional, very courteous and very talented.

Horrible haircut — poorly cut. Can’t wait for my hair to grow so I could get a more professional cut elsewhere. Regrettable experience at this weirdly located salon. Would not recommend.

I had my relaxers and haircut done by Brittni at Mint back in when I was working in NYC, and my hair was never happier! The results were great, and my hair was healthier than it had been in a while. I was initially worried because it didn’t seem like a salon for «ethnic hair,» but Brittni was fantastic and probably gave me one of the best relaxer retouches that I’ve ever had. She also gave me better options of hair products to use to keep my hair as healthy as possible. When I was getting my relaxers done at Mint my hair grew longer and faster than it has ever been, probably due to the quality of products and all of the haircare advice I was getting from Brittni.
I didn’t mind the location since I worked in Midtown, so for me it was very convenient. The atmosphere is very classy and relaxed, and I never had to wait because they’re always on time. The price was more than I’d been used to paying for a relaxer and trim or cut, but it was 100% worth it. If I hadn’t moved out of town I would still be going there.

I have been coming to Charlene for my color since they opened this salon. I always have people stop me on the street to ask where I get my color done (and not those dodgy ppl trying to sell coupons). This place is the best. I have yet to try the eyebrow girl, but I hear she is amaze if you can get an appt.

Just used a Gilt voucher for highlights this morning and I am so happy with the results. Very professional staff. Charlene was so nice and did an excellent job. The studio is a little out of the way and I’ve been going to Arrojo for years, but I’m switching to Mint because today I got better service and results. Thanks!

I first came to Mint Salon with a Gilt City voucher for a haircut and keratin treatment, and found that although the Gilt voucher didn’t actually provide much of a savings over their normal rates, I was really impressed by their normal rates for the quality of the cut!
I’ve now been going back to Brittni for haircuts for the last year and I can finally say I think I’ve found the best value for a truly great professional haircut in the city (and I’ve been doing Gilt, Living Social and Bumble and Bumble free model cut deals for years).
The salon is not too fancy, but airy and bright. I’ve never found availability to be an issue when booking, though maybe that will change as their popularity grows.
Only complaint is that the salon is in a location that I almost never go, other than to get a haircut, but I live downtown and will go here over a Soho or Chelsea salon any day.

My first time it did full highlights. Charlene provided a very good care of me.
She listened and was paying close attention each steps of the process. The result was amazing I had nice 2 colors of very fine highlights which gave me a fresh natural look.
My second time, I had a half highlight with Charlene and a haircut with Mark.
My hair got too long, too heavy with a lot of volume. Mark took the time and did a nice hair cut adapted to the nature of my hair.
It is always a pleasure to work with passionate and caring people like Charlene and Mark. Since I went to go to Mint I have never had so many compliments with my hair. I highly recommend the salon, you will not regret it !

Mint the Salon. What can I say about this glorious establishment other than it has saved my hair since I moved to NYC.
I have super curly hair and am very picky about who I let work on it. Charlene is a total pro. She is some kind of color wizard. Every time I have her color my hair I leave feeling happy and looking foxy.
Mark Perez is also some kind of hair cutting genius. He has never given me a bad cut, he completely «gets» curly hair, which leads me to believe he can cut any kind of hair if he can make my mess look normal.
Everyone who works here is super professional, very friendly, they are always sweet and remember who I am and what I do, etc…
Basically, they are great. AND almost forgot to mention, they are extremely affordable for an NYC salon.
Bottom line: high quality work that isn’t going to break your budget. LOVE THEM!

Mark Perez is incredibly knowledgeable about all types of hair. I have a natural, kinky curly hair and he gets it! He has been my stylist for many many years.
Whenever I have my hair cut by Mark, I feel so much more stylish and chic as a result; plus I ALWAYS get compliments on my hair especially after a fresh cut.
Mixed with an incredible sense of style, a fun, and relaxing enviromment, I highly recommend checking out Mark Perez and Mint Salon.
It is an experience worth having!

I have been to almost every high-​end salon in the city but for the last ten years I only let Mark Perez, the senior stylist at Mint, cut and style my hair. I have coarse Asian hair with a little natural wave to it and he always knows how to work with the texture of my hair and make me look my best. I always get compliments on my straight, shiny hair and little do they know Mark is my secret weapon.
Regardless of being one of Mark’s long standing clients, he always sits me down for a consultation before he cuts and styles to get a sense of any changes in my career, lifestyle or aspirations. He makes recommendations based on our chat and it makes me feel special and cared for.
Mark has such a great eye for what cut will flatter a person’s face the most and I consider him to be one of NYC’s best.

My haircut was great.
What I didn’t like was that after I paid $ 89 on LivingSocial (A «$ 186 value»), tipped and paid tax on that amount, I was informed by my stylist that her haircuts are $ 65 if I wanted to make another appointment.
This place isn’t new, according to the stylist, it’s been there for about 4 years. They are in a weird location and clearly use LivingSocial to attract new clients, so why would you charge $ 24 MORE than usual? I liked my haircut, but I will never go back because of this.
I contacted LivingSocial about this and they apologized, but said that their deal prices are based on the information given to them by the merchant and they don’t vet them for accuracy.
