Great Store! The owner has excellent taste and spends lots of time helping you pick exactly the right frames both prescription and sunglasses. Purchase all my eye wear from here. Love the variety of designers that he has at really good prices. The optometrist is great too. He figured out what was bothering my eye right away for a reasonable fee and now I am able to wear contacts again.

This store is a wonderful find on 2^nd Ave. Roman the owner is very knowledgable, patient and nice to deal with. He has a large selection of glasses that satisfies many different tastes. His styles range from classical to current. His prices are good and his service is excellent.

Sleaze ball sales techniques, pushing customers to get the most expensive frames. Never listened to what I was really looking for just kept trying to give me the same pair of glasses I already owned, «because this is what looks good» then offered a payment plan for the glasses, and put me on the phone with someone asking me if I was trying to open a line of credit. The optometrist was pleasant and I enjoyed my conversation with him, but once on the sales floor it solidified that I would never purchase something from such an establishment. Cheesy pick up lines included! I think every woman who walked in to the store had the salesman’s «favorite name» save the bad pick up lines for the trashy dive bars.

NOTE: I have no experience regarding testing of customers for vision problems. My experience was strictly one of buying non-​prescription sunglasses.
I’ve wanted a truly quality set of sunglasses for quite awhile now. But those tend to be pricey. Saw the sign in the window for Ray-​Bans being on sale for $ 99. (Honestly, I doubted if it was more than just one or two being sold at that price. Despite a lack of mention of «select models only» on the sign.) I was surprised to find that they had quite a good selection of Ray-​Bans at the $ 99 price-​point. However, I wanted a set with polarized lenses. Well, those cost quite a bit more. I stopped by the place a few minutes after they’re scheduled to be open. Bit disappointed that the place was still closed. Came back about 15 or 20 minutes later to see one individual open the place up.
I was the first customer of the day. I was greeted warmly, and treated in a very professional manner. (A rare thing nowadays in any place selling luxury goods.) I mentioned I was interested in Ray-​Bans. Thankfully there was no up-​selling to a brand I didn’t want. The individual helping me steered me to a good selection that best fit what I was looking for from Ray-​Ban. He wasn’t perfect during the selling process. But overall, it was a very pleasant experience.
I found the sunglasses I wanted after trying on quite a few different pairs. At no time did I feel rushed to hurry up and make up my mind. I found the perfect pair of Ray-​Bans, for me. Cost was quite a bit more than $ 99. But they were polarized and honestly felt as though they were custom-​made for me, when it came to the fit. Absolutely perfect in that regard. Very happy with my new Sunglasses as well as the treatment I received at Michael’s.
Took off one star because the place wasn’t open when it should have been. And it wasn’t as though I waited just 5 minutes before it was. Also, the advertising for $ 99 Ray-​Bans should include the words «On select models.» It doesn’t. And that does bother me a bit. With those words included, I think potential customers will still walk in the door. Ray-​Ban is a well-​known and respected brand.
Obviously, they have other brands as well. I can’t comment on getting your eyes tested at Michael’s Optical or the type of experience you’ll have there regarding that aspect. But if you want a quality pair of shades, I can absolutely recommend the place. Easily one of the best buying experiences I’ve had in years.

Best selection of frames ever! Even if they don’t have the color in store they will get it. Best name brands out there. Lenses are top of the line and guaranteed. The gentlemen that helped me were the most professional and helpful I have ever had in helping select my eyewear. I love my new glasses and will definitely be back for more!

BAIT AND SWITCH! After promising «laser digital lenses» from europe the glasses never worked well. I took them to two other opticiens and was told they were GENERIC LENSES. MIchael replaced them again and they were still generic, very low quality and not what he represented. I told my eye doctor and he said he stopped using Michael’s Optical because of multiple patient complaints of OVERCHARGING and POOR QUALITY.
If you have been unfortunate enough to be tricked here, take your glasses to a reputable optometrist and make sure you have received what you paid for. Tell-​tale signs are poor reading quality, easily scratched lenses, lenses that don’t resist getting greasy at all.
I wanted to support a small business but feel bad that this place contributes to a sketchy stereotype for other small businesses. BUYER BEWARE.
–contacted by the owner. This is the place I bought the low quality expensive glasses. My eye doctor won’t send anyone else here. Sad really. Poor ethics are unfortunate.

I went to them because of their recent Groupon deal. There were four of us waiting. Two of us had appointments for 6:30, and two for 6:45pm. The doctor anticipated spending less than ten minutes with each of us and went ahead and overbooked us. He never tested me for glaucoma or did a pressure test. He just had me read from a chart and even though I kept saying I couldn’t read the chart, he eventually decided my new prescription was the exact same as my old prescription. I kept telling him I can’t see in my old glasses, and his response was «that might be the best anyone can do for you and you just won’t be able to see any better.»
When I started to cry (because who likes to be told that they’ll never be able to read a street sign again) he told me I should leave because he had other customers. The next guy was in and out of his office in under ten minutes.
I would never recommend going there to any of my friends. It felt like a scam. I’m certainly going to get a second opinion. Their bathroom was also incredibly dirty with no paper towels or any clean way to remove contact lenses before an exam. Worst eye appointment I’ve ever had, and I’ve had glasses since I was five.

Absolutely fabulous! Have been a customer for years and Romeo has taken over seamlessly from Michael. It is such a delight to have an expert assess your facial structure and select frames specifically for you! The problem is there are so many wonderful frames that it is hard to choose. I am a big fan and highly recommend a visit.

Just picked up my new glasses 1 day earlier than expected ! Romeo one of the owners .did a great job .I got a terrific eye exam… and a set of progressive lenses …1^st time .and everything is perfect… nice selection of frames and great service

These guys are great. Very helpful. I found a pair of frames I liked but wasn’t sure of the color and they ordered me the frame in a few other colors to try. When my lenses came in first, they said I could take them in the original color and changed them when the order arrived. Of course I started liking how I looked in the original color (pink) even though I’m not a color person.
The lenses which are HD progressives are sharp and clear and non reflective. And they helped to make sure that I’m seeing out the the lenses the way i should be, that they are aligned correctly which is important with progressives so you don’t get distortion.
The prices are decent and the frame selection is there is quality. These are the best quality frames I’ve owned so far.

Met the owner — very nice guy. I went in to get prescription lenses for the sunglasses I bought at Bloomingdales. Service was quick and easy and the shades should be ready on Thurs (it’s Saturday) and I’m excited for the end result!

This is a great business. Romeo helped me select the PERFECT pair of eye glasses to complement my face. Because Michael’s Optical doesn’t accept my vision plan (Empire), Romeo and his assistant Albert were generous in helping me work out a deal for the frames and lenses that was competitive with what my insurance company would have offered were they in-​network.
After receiving my prescription, they had my glasses ready to pick up within a day. The lenses are better than any I’ve owned before — beautifully transparent, smudge and glare free. I am so happy to finally not feel like a nerd when I wear my glasses. If you want honest help picking out your frames, I’d suggest you go here.

This place has the frames you want at prices like no other. I try on what I want here in San Diego, then write down the model number and order it for huge discount from Michael’s. of course all my expensive frames get lost, so I’m down to the one’s at 99 cent store for now.
