Whenever I visit NYC, I make sure to visit Chinatown to get my bai jiu fix. This was my first time at Mark’s and I was impressed by their hands on nature. One of the associates there spoke with me and my friends about the ingredients in and reign where each bottle was made. He asked us about our taste preferences and made suggestions based on them. He was extremely knowledgeable and even let us sample a few bottles before we made our purchases. While the prices were a bit high, I appreciate his willingness to educate us on all things 白酒

quaint little store. open later than most in the neighborhood which is a plus. prices are average, there’s cheaper but still quite affordable. the store is tiny, but the employees are generally very friendly.

Late-night Chinatown liquor option. I needed a quick bottle of wine for a house warming and because I had just wrapped up dinner in Chinatown, options were limited. Mark’s was the only liquor store open late in the area, and I had no choice but to stop in. Not sure if it’s always true or if it was because they were open past their normal hours(according to the window sign), but it was cash only. A pair of girls were struggling with this; one was waiting in the store while her friend was finding an ATM and she was freaking out that her friend might’ve gotten lost. The guy(presumably Mark) was really helpful and offered to pick a bottle of wine for me when they were out of stock of my go-to. Prices aren’t cheap, but they’re fair. I got a middle of the road $ 15 bottle of white and left the girls figure out their mess. It’s nice to know of a reliable late-night liquor store in Chinatown should I ever find myself in a pinch again.

5 stars just for their lychee sake. Words can’t explain how awesome this drink is, but I have been back multiple times just to purchase it. Their selection seems fairly large, and the prices are also pretty good. :)

Marks is a tiny liquor store with a showroom probably smaller than my bedroom. It is not the most elegant liquor store… but hey, you didn’t come here sit in and wine and dine. They sell alcohol here, and they serve this purpose well. Despite its size, they have a much wider selection of liquors than most stores 5 times larger. Their cognac selection is surprisingly good, and goes well beyond the typical Hennessy, and Remy that Chinatown residents are most like to buy. The whiskey selection is decent too. Pleasantly surprised that the first ever New York City liquor store that I’ve seen carry Redbreast is in Chinatown.

I cannot understate the value of liquor stores in Chinatown. Do you know how HARD it is to get: a) Serious, PREMIUM Sake b) Lychee flavored liquor & c) Soju, Soju, SOJU You know how hard it is to get any of these north of NYC; Chinatown especially? I live for the exotic things life has to offer and that means Asian liquor! Marks Wine & Sprits have a really primo selection and the staff is always nice and willing to answer all questions. Get there now!
