Manhattan Eyeworks

I go out of my way to get my eyeglasses at Manhattan Eyeworks. They have friendly staff, and most of all: a good selection. I will go back next time I need frames.

I’ve been getting my glasses and sunglasses from here for at least 7 years. Always prompt service and product. Doctors nice and efficient too!

Out of all of the eyeglasses stores I’ve visited (and there have been a number of them), I would highly recommend Dr. Gross. He is one of the most nicest, caring and informative eye doctors I’ve been blessed to known.

Dr. Gross is amazing, and his optical staff is knowledgeable, engaged and responsive. Really wide selection of frames and top end options for lenses. I’ve purchased two complex prescription glasses and i am very happy.

I was a walk in on Dec 29^th and the staff at Manhattan Eyeworks was very accommodating.
They looked up my information and gave me all the prelim information I needed since it was the first time for me to use my VSP benefit. They were also able to squeeze in an appointment for me. The eye exam was done efficiently. Can’t wait to see my new pair of glasses.

Wow. Great customer service and so much more than I expected from just a routine eye visit. Great central location, stylist frames, and an extremely helpful staff.
The great customer service started well before I even set foot in the actual establishment. The young lady I spoke with over the phone looked up both my vision plans to see what and how much was covered. She was patient and professional and even got me in within a week of making my appointment.
My appointment started on time and the Doctor Gross was personable and provided me with additional information during my visit I would normally not have received. And trust me I know I have been getting my eyes checked for years. One thing that completely blew my mind was after my contact examination in which I tried a different type of contacts for my Astigmatism the Doctor then checked to make sure my contacts properly fit on my eyes. Normally after giving you your trial pair they just ask you how you feel and you are on your merry way. But this doctor actually to the time to examine them up close.
After my eye exam I got to pick out some frames. The employee Peter was so helpful. I promise he has to be the most patient and helpful I encountered. And he knows his stuff ! I happen to have dual vision insurance and gave me different options in terms of which insurance I should use to cover what. I think I changed my mind about 6 times and he remained professional and pleasant THE ENTIRE TIME.
When time for payment came I wanted to use my Care Credit card that the young lady I made my appointment with told me they accepted. I attempted to use it but later on found out that they don’t take it even though they have a sign that said Care Credit accepted here. Peter apologized and took the sign down. Although I did want to use that as my form of payment it did not deter me from giving them a star less for the simple fact their customer service really surpassed everything I expected from a routine eye exam.
Peter told me they would call as soon as my contacts were ready and my glasses should be ready in 10 days.
Summary of this review: MAKE AN APPOINTMENT AND JUST GO!!!

They are great! When i ripped a contact and was out of town they called my prescription in to a local place and within an hour had a replacement set!

Dr. Gross is the best! Very thorough, and takes his time! Wonderful doctor and great selection of frames! I recommend Manhattan Eyeworks unconditionally!

Doctor Gross is Amazing!!! I myself and my 3 children were beyond taken care of by him. he is very respectful, passionate and helpful. And wonderful with children. I see my self continuing care here for my children as well. The office was very clean and put together, the staff was helpful and kind as well. I loved it here. I’d recommend this business highly. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Gross’s at Manhattan Eyeworks for several years. He’s a great DO and I always find my appointments to be ontime and informative. I’ve never had a problem with my prescriptions. He never tries to push new products or upsell you the way other practices might. Front office staff is also helpful and well informed when it comes time to order frames.

I’ve been living (and wearing glasses) in NYC for 6 years, and Dr. Gross is by the far the most patient, informed, and caring eye doctor I’ve seen. He answered all my questions thoughtfully, without any of the «Oh, this again» or «Let me try to answer as quickly as possible» attitude. It was clear that he cared that I felt my visit was comprehensive, and he listened attentively to all my concerns and gave medically-​based, not anecdotally-​based, feedback to help me feel safe about my eyes. Plus, he just seems like a genuinely good guy.
His staff is equally wonderful. Especially the Asian gentleman with the glasses (I can’t believe I never got his name!!). He’s so friendly and welcoming. He spent a lot of time helping me pick out frames (actually, so did Dr. Gross when he wasn’t inside with patients), never getting impatient with my indecisiveness and hesitations. Thank you!

I’ve been going to Manhaytan Eyeworks for over 10 years and I love them! Dr. Gross is my doctor and he is both professional and extremely kind. I have to be honest and say I’ve been to other doctors because I moved but I had to come back. My vision is clearer with Manhattan Eyeworks, I could not ask for better service.

The people are super nice! the facility is clean and the exam is very thorough. I would recommend completing an eye and/​or contacts exam. Also, the selection of eyewear is good, which can be better.
Dr. Gross is super nice and informative.

They fired the manager. Thank god, do this place has a chance. Upping the rating for this. I am happy at my new place but this might be worth a shot.

This place had Zocdoc availability all day then called and didn’t confirm the appt I’d made, but instead asked me to find a new time via voicemail (never actually canceling the ZocDoc appt, let alone offering to help me reschedule). Guess that explains why they have things like $ 75 off $ 100 Unilocal deals.

I don’t think I can properly describe the positive atmosphere here.
I made my contact lens appointment on ZocDoc (new patient) and was acknowledged and thanked for doing so upon arrival. I was about 20min early but I wasn’t asked to wait. I saw the doctor within 10 min of arriving.
Dr. Gross is a great provider. He has a wonderful demeanor and is easy and comfortable to speak with. It’s clear he still has a passion for his job and that’s important. I was able to ask questions that I’ve hesitated to ask other providers in the past. I left the exam room feeling informed and looking forward to coming back for a more comprehensive exam (which I forgot to schedule … I’ll do it now… after this review).
Afterwards, meeting with Tanya to go over what my insurance covers and what options I have for lenses, etc., was another positive experience. We ended up going through what felt like 50 frames until I was sure I was in love. I picked the contact lenses that Dr. Gross recommended and they have a rebate offer going on as well.
I spent more than I would have liked, but that’s due to my expensive taste in frames. I was definitely shown a wide range of pricing but settled on the more expensive of the options.
