Be careful Had a very short time line and after researching appraisers, was thrilled to get an appointment.
Appraiser was to send me details of appointment in email and did not. Instead, he called late the next day and canceled my appointment. Could not see me for 5 for more days which did not fit my time schedule.
Now I must start from scratch — with even less time and find another appraiser.

I recently purchased an engagement ring that came with an appraisal of the center stone from some place I hadn’t heard of. Not fully trusting the appraisal, I took the ring to Manhattan Appraisers for an independent assessment. My ring was appraised by Bill who was professional and knowledgeable. He completed his own assessment without using the information in the original appraisal and came up with a different conclusion to the quality and value of the entire ring (not just the center diamond). He explained the differences and provided some rationale as to how he determined his grading. Although the diamond wasn’t what was sold to me as, I do have comfort in knowing that my purchase price is less than what it would be to go and replace the ring for an identical ring today.
