Middle-​of-​the-​road place to see a film screening — not the best, not the worst. I think it’s weird how the men’s room has a step up to use the urinals. It must not have always been a men’s room, but they didn’t go through the trouble to fix the layout.

I’ve only gone to Magno for press screenings but with one exception, which had nothing to do with Magno itself, i was always very happy with the experience. From my filmmaking peers that have screened their past projects here they’ve also been satisfied with the staff and facilities as well.

If you’re looking to transfer 8 mm, check out
, (a Kodak affiliate) or Costco. Believe it or not, Costco has great rates and they did a fabulous job.

I came here when I needed some 8 mm film transfered to mini-​dv. They were one of the only places in the city that would do the convert, and their prices were very reasonable! Very professional environment and located conveniently enough in Times Square (even though I hate the area, at least its centrally located).
I needed something else transferred not to long ago and decided to go back here. Ultimately I never had the chance to do so but when I had called to inquiry (it was different stock) if they could do it the man I spoke to was very helpful and upfront about prices etc, and made sure I had his number to call back if I had other questions, instead of going through operators again!

Last week or so, I went to a preview screening of the documentary film that C. is editing. The screening room I went to wasn’t on the seventh floor, and I’m not sure what all Magno does, but if you’re looking for a place to screen a movie, consider this.
Basically, you go in and take the elevator up to the second or third floor (I forget). You wait in the hallway until your screening room is free, and then you go in.
The screening room isn’t anything fancy, but the screen is clean and clear, and the seats are relatively comfortable.
Worth keeping in mind.
