This place was awesome from the moment i got there until the moment i left. The staff was really polite and welcoming. While I waited for my boyfriend to arrive they gave me some details on the NYC winter restaurant week menu, which is why i was there! The food was delicious For appetizer we chose the ostras and the bacalaitos. Both amazing, but the ostras appetizer order is small(3 oysters) so if you’re looking for more than that order the full plate of ostras. For our main dishes we chose the Carne con yuca and the dry aged burger. I don’t mean to sound like a broken record but also AMAZING. Both were flavorful and had delicious sauces to go atop. For dessert we chose one of each item offered, the tres leches and the churros rellenos. They were both amazing(I know i said it again). I will say one thing, if you have less of a sweet tooth then the tres leches would be the way to go, but if you lean toward sweeter is better, then I’d say the churros is IT! The churros are filled with dulce de leche and nutella, YUM! So there you have it… also the tamarindo with tequila or the guava and whiskey are musts! And our waiter was nice enough to give us free glasses of sangria tinta, and i highly recommend it. Even if you don’t usually order or like sangria I’d say give it a whirl

My friends and I went here for restaurant week dinner. The service was excellent, our waiter was very very nice. In fact, all the workers were a good team in giving us the best service they could. The lobster guac was amazing! We split it between 5 people and it was just the right amount. They did not skimp out on the lobster either. For appetizer, I had the mixed ceviche that had shrimp and octopus. The amount of citrus was just the right amount, not too sour because they put oranges and grapefruits in it too. Would definitely get that again. As an entrée, I got the carne con yuca. The steak was cooked beautifully and it melted in my mouth. I wasn’t a huge fan of the yuca fries, but I may be biased because I don’t really like yuca. Some of the fries were really hard. Dessert: My favorite of the whole meal! The tres leche with the guava mousse on top was ameeeeezing!!! Right amount of sweetness with a nice tangy kick after taste. The flavor combination was a great experience, very hard to explain. You have to come and get it. :)

Alright huevos rancheros that comes in a skillet, really greasy mini arepas and pretty dry yucca fries. Mleh. What was really random was that when I ordered the yucca fries, my server stopped me and went«wait, do you even KNOW what they are?!» I guess not, since they didn’t taste nearly as good as what I’m used to!

Went for a date during Restaurant Week. Food was all top notch and full portions. Desserts were particularly amazing. Had the churros and tres leches on the specialty menu. Service was pretty slow and inattentive, but in the charming European way more so than bad American service. I would recommend coming here for a nice date with someone worth West Village prices!

Great food and even better guava mimosas! The staff however is very rude and not at all helpful. I made a brunch reservation for a large group and checked in at the door, after being told my entire party had to be present to be seated(standard) we stepped to the side, when I went back to let them know it would be less people they had deleted my reservation and didn’t recognize me… awkward. On top of this, because it’s hard to get a large group of people anywhere on time when we were seated half an hour later and tried to do the bottomless mimosa special our waiter told us the time limit would have started from our reservation time. Meaning, we would be paying the same price for a shorter amount of time. Would recommend for the food, but be prepared to be very patient with the staff.

The server was absolutely fantastic– definitely ask for edwin vargas when you are there– he was honestly more competent than the manager. With over 500 people there and just 8 waiters he was more than accommodating. Food was great but the manager sat us late and moved us from a table, we had a reservation for 2 and all of a sudden it was 2:30 and we were just being sat

An absolutely delightful dining experience… from the friendly greeting by the hostess, to the yummy cocktails, excellent service, scrumptious food(the codfish fritters… YEOW!!!), charming décor and great(and absurdly eclectic) music, this was a total treat. We were celebrating my birthday, low-key…I happened to mention it to our excellent waiter, just in passing, and wouldn’t you know, my dessert came out with a candle and two waiters singing«Happy Birthday». Quite reasonably priced for the quality and amount of the food. Charred Octopus was great, as was the steak. We definitely will be back. This is the newer companion restaurant to the one on E. Houston, and we hope it succeeds.

i’ve been here several times– once for a small bday party of 4, another time with a large bachelorette group of 12. made reservations both times and i would highly recommend. if you arrive at noon, the place is basically empty, but by 1pm it is packed and a zoo. they have a cheap bottomless mimosa deal(numerous flavors) and they keep those drinks flowinggggg. all of the brunch entrees are amazing, you can’t go wrong. i am obsessed with the chilequiles. they are so comforting and insanely delicious. huevos rancheros is also so good. also, the empanadas!!!

Food: 2 – 3 Service: 3 – 4 Ambiance: 4 This place was so cute for brunch — spacious, well-lit, nicely decorated — but the food was disappointing. –Huevos Rancheros($ 12): Served hot in a cast iron skillet. It looked delicious, but tasted pretty bland. 2 corn tortillas, 2 eggs over easy, cheese, sausage, black beans. –Arepas($ 6): 2 cakes. Contrary to the traditional savory dish, these sat in a pool of maple syrup, so they were more like pancakes. –Yuca Fries($ 6): Dry and boring. The green sauce drizzled on top was the only highlight. Two spacious, verrry dimly lit single-stall bathrooms are located in the back.

This place it’s just amazing! The food is — real– typical Latin food, the service is amazing; the manager, Jonathan and Francisco, a fantastic waiter made our night even better. If you want a good selection of tapas and cocktails at a beautiful place– you’d love Macondo.

New York offers some of the most avant garde experiences in Latin Fusion. I have been delighted to try Rayuela, Salinas, Yerbabuena, Pulperia, Cienfuegos just to mention a few. Each has provided unique experiences and a special take on dishes I am used to having only at home. In comes Macondo, a feel good gastronomical hit where for a few hours you truly transport to a place far away from the urban jungle. Start with Humberto’s take on Guava and Whiskey, gentle yet powerful ensemble of spirit and fruit. Scotch and Rye lovers will equally love this amber delight which begins to immerse you in the experience. Then allow the menu to guide you through a culinary delight of Colombian and LAmerican delicacies. No need for recommendations, be surprised, be adventurous. Did not regret our time here. Whether a happy hour stop or a Friday night out on a first date, you will not regret your evening at Macondo.

The tapas here were amazing! My husband and I dined outside on bank street and it was perfect. We ordered wine and took our time with the tapas. Warning — food does come out quickly so take your time ordering. We had the ceviche — blue tuna and salmon. They were both delicious. The croquettes were actually my favorite! My husband loved the grilled octopus but I found it a bit overdone. My husband also ordered the empanadas bucket. I am not a fan of maize so I did not enjoy the texture of the dough. We also ordered the steak and fries. The steak was a bit chewy and the fries are dry. Overall the experience was great. The ceviche definitely saved the day for me here.

Came here a few weeks ago(May 15). The Bosslady(aka Mom) & sis took me to this fun spot for my birthday and boy… did I celebrate w/some yummy tapas & drinks! All I have to say is, Pulpo, Pulpo, Pulpo! Def done right. If you’re a Pulpo fan, give it a go! You won’t regret it! If you/your crew are semi famished, order the Kale and Manchego Salad(Umm hello Manchego!!!) for the table, throw in some yuca fries & Bruselas! Leave some room for pan de Bono & churros. A Pan de Bono $ 5-order comes w/2 pans(or 5 for $ 10) w/guava & chimi butter. Though the pan was quite smaller than one would find in a Latin bakery, the guava butter surely made up for it. Have to give props to our waitress, who was kind enough to bring some(regular) bread for the table(had to ask since the Pan de Bono was gone in a sec) so we can finish the guava butter. It was that good! The Churros w/dulce de leche & hot chocolate dipping sauce was the best way to end a great meal! Would def come back for the tapas and of course, the Sangrias! Hope our waitress is still there since great service is hard to come by. Overall, I had a great Macondo West experience!

I love brunching at Macondo in LES and was so excited to hear about the new location. My friend and I came to brunch here with an Urbandaddy deal. It included the most delicious bunuelos starter(cheesy bread balls), two-hour unlimited mimosas, an entrée and dessert! There were three flavors for the mimosas — blackberry mint, orange vanilla and guanabana(our fave). For the entrée we ordered the Carne con Yuca and it was delish! Seasoned nicely and flavorful. We also ordered the Pacific and Atlantic oysters platter on top of it all. Super fresh! I will definitely be coming back again! Great Latin flavors and amazing service.
