This is my favorite restaurant on the Upper East Side. Every time my boyfriend and I try a new Italian restaurant(on the Upper East Side or anywhere else in Manhattan) we always regret it. The food here is delicious, the ambience is romantic, and the service is great. Why would we go anywhere else? We come here for dates, we take our friends here, and we take our family here when they come to visit from out of town. There’s really nowhere better. Like everyone else has mentioned, I recommend the fig gnocchi. Sometimes I get the ravioli with the truffle sauce as well(also delicious). Either my boyfriend or I have also gotten the linguine with clams, linguine with pesto, and the fettuccine alla bolognese. I’m sure I’m missing others, but importantly, we’ve never been disappointed!

TERRIBLE experience here. Made a reservation called in advance to confirm it and then had to wait a half hour. Was told repeatedly that customers were leaving and our table would be cleared but they were blatantly lying. Once the other table left they proceeded to give the table away to a different party that came in AFTER us. Horrible management. Will never go again.

HORRIBLE customer service. Made a reservation for 8 pm. By 830, still no table. 20 degrees in NY and they asked us to wait outside because there was no place to stand. One person in our party had to go downstairs to wait by the bathroom because there was no place to wait for our reservation except in freezing outside restaurant. Recipe to go, it of business. A shame as it used to be a neighborhood gem. I WISHTHEREWASANOPTIONFORNOSTARS

My favorite italian restaurant on the upper east side, by far! The food is so delicious and the service is consistently good. Wasn’t a HUGE fan of the fig gnochi to be honest, but I’m just not big on gnochi in general.

the best place in the upper east side for italian food, period. i have tried everything this neighborhood can offer, and there is a lot to offer here… and by far luna have the best pastas around. the quality is always the same(great.) and the service is super fast and professional. i have dined there once with my wife and really enjoyed it, and ordered from them using EAT24 many times, always nice, always on time and always fresh delicious food. till i move to a new place this is my go to place for italian food!

Used to eat here on a regular basis but now as pressed for time, I order takeaway. The food is yummy and fresh and the service is excellent. Once my son needed to use the phone to call me as I live near by and the waiter was very generous with time and was very gracious about this. It’s got the best food, the best service and super clean. The chef Paul knows how to keep standards high !

Stopped here for dessert. The service was impeccable, very welcoming atmosphere. Hands down the BEST tiramisu and ricotta cheesecake we’ve ever had. BEST ever.

Great restaurant. Very accommodating(they split the starter without we even asked :)). Food is amazing. The fig gnocchi is delightful and a «don’t miss!» dish. The spinach and ricotta ravioli is precise in its taste. Both pastas are made at the restaurant from scratch. Highly recommended!

We have stopped in here twice for dinner and both visits were wonderful. The décor is warm and classy. The service is always completely on point – amiable but not effusive – old-school style. Last weekend we ordered the peach salad, the fettuccine bolognese(off the regular menu) and the mushroom ravioli(one of several specials). The peach salad and fettuccine were excellent and the ravioli was sublime. We will be back next time we venture from Woodside to the UES.

Passing by on the way to Emilio when we saw this cute little gem! Immaculately clean! Ordered the Backed eggplant, linguine with pesto sauce and the Salmon crusted with sesame seeds. The eggplant was excellent. Perhaps we were so hungry but hit the spot

Ordered delivery on seamless. Paid $ 35 for a side of meatballs and two plain Caesar salads for dinner. The salads were TINY even in appetizer salad standards. We asked for extra dressing which didn’t arrive and they didn’t even bother sending utensils. When I called the restaurant to complain the response I got was: «you try it, you don’t like it, that’s how it is!»

Fig gnocchi — totally lived up to the hype! It was so special and so good! I shouldn’t have asked for pepper as usual but it was still very good either way! The portions are okay — it wasn’t huge compared to other Italian restaurants. The salads are overpriced considering the amount of food you are getting. The restaurant is small but cozy. The service was okay. Overall, gnocchi was a 4.5 star, portion and taste for other dishes were 3 stars, and service was 3 star as well.

I’ll start with the positive. The food! It was so good! The fig gnochi was amazing and the linguine with basil pesto sauce was ridiculous! I would love to go back and try everything else on that menu! A true Italian restaurant. The cons: IT“S SMALL! We were there for Valentine’s Day and were incredibly cramped. I understand the need for a small business to try and get as much business as possible but it was a bit absurd to have to move tables for people to get in and out of there seats. You’re bumping elbows with your neighbors and listening to every word of their conversation. Stop talking about what I’ve ordered Nancy and pay attention to your own damn spaghetti! I’d try going back on not such a busy night.

Really tiny take out portions!!! The food was actually really good, but got smaller than appetizer size meals for over $ 20. We got a $ 10 Cesar salad that you could literally eat in 5 bites.

Good food but the kind of place to take your parents. A mature crowd for sure. Even I felt young here and thought I should be sitting at the kiddie table back in the day at my great aunt and uncle’s house in Brooklyn. That being said the dining experience here was definitely worthy. Half moon ravioli is made perfectly. As was the fig gnocchi. The plate portions are not the largest, but the food tastes so good you won’t mind not leaving with a food baby. It leaves room for one of their desserts such as the terrific flourless chocolate cake. Very attentive professional waiters who know their stuff and will help make a proper wine selection too. Very reasonable prices for the area with a menu of well thought out Italian options. It’s a small restaurant with elegantly simple décor and located off a side street on the UES. It’s one of those tiny neighborhood hidden gems that you’d like to keep secret. As I said it’s a good spot to bring your parents, grandparents, a date, or your side piece when having an affair!

Great little neighborhood Italian restaurant in the UES. The food was delicious, and desserts scrumptious. We started with a homemade Fig Gnocchi in a butter sage sauce, topped with shaved truffle cheese that tasted a bit flat but had amazing texture. Wish chef used a little more truffle cheese. Entrée was a special, pounded thin veal chop Milanese that was one of the best veal chop I’ve ever had, so tender and lightly pan fried and breaded. Dover sole, I was told was very good but came out slightly cold. Ricotta cheesecake and cannoli stole the show. Cappuccino good but weak. Service was very friendly but not spot on as other reviews noted. Lastly ask for a table in the back on a cold winter night, the table’s by the front become very, very cold as Luna Rossa has a great take out business and the front door is consistently being opened by their delivery guys.

Wine and dessert at this spot is perfect. Try the chocolate flourless cake while sitting by the large bay window up front with a hot cup of coffee.

Luna Rossa also delivers and I discovered it on . I received my favorite Linguine with clams and cherry tomatoes, arugula and endive salad and(free) hot sliced Italian garlic bread and extra parmesan containers. Such a great deal. I contacted because seems like there’s no way one can write a review on that site.

Very good Italian restaurant. Great service and excellent food. They know how to pour a bottle of wine correctly, which is harder to come by than one would think. The fig gnocci is insanely delicious. This is my second time back and I will return for a third.
