I suggest you never come to this place; it would inevitably lead to a spiral of addition and insatiable desire for more lobster roll.

Nice spot for true raw seafood straight off the boat lol. Thought the portions would be larger but it was great nonetheless.

stopped by Luke’s this past Saturday(1÷16÷2016) before the Pats-Chief game to grab a lobster roll to chow on before the game. GOPATRIOTS! entered in the early afternoon. no one was at the register. weird. there were two customers discussing the Sexual Dynamics of Monkeys at a table. weirder. the cashier finally stepped up to the register as he was having what seemed to be a non-work conversation with the LOBSTERROLLER in the tiny kitchen area. Luke’s Lobster in the East Village has a few small high tables as you enter. they sell some Luke’s lobster merchandise hats, shirts, and such. the space is well-lit, clean, cute, and kitschy in a natural way. the place seems perfect for a casual lunch date where you bounce to a bar for drinks after OR eats with a small group of friends. on top of the lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls that they sell. they also sell MAINEROOT soft drinks, a local soda line produced locally in Maine. i ordered a Lobster Roll«TOGO.» got charged $ 17+($ 16 sandwich + tax) on my credit card. of course the receipt asks for a tip before any service has actually been rendered. so i tip on 10% – a preemptive strike bc i felt like the service would likely be mediocre.(spoiler alert: it was mediocre). the cashier moved back a few feet to the kitchen area to continue some nonsensical conversation with the LOBSTERROLLER. after about 5 minutes, i was handed a small flimsy box with my lobster roll. i then had to ask for a bag because i had errands to run and wasn’t eating the sandwich until i got home – HENCE why i said«TOGO» when i ordered. the weird part was when people ask for food«to go» when they order does the staff just hand them a tiny hotdog sized container or do they try to remember the order and bag it. apparently they don’t try to remember and just blab with their coworkers.(spoiler alert: i got the bag after requesting it and left.) also i get the saving the environment angle, but TOGO typically means give me a bag so i can take the food TOGO. lol i wasn’t offered a MOBSTA card(the punch card for rewards when you make purchases) nor was a delivery menu put in the bag either nor alerted about the Luke’s Lobster app where you can make purchases and get a few dollars off your first order. this location of Luke’s doesn’t seem to be about customer service, though they represent it well on the the website. i only found out about the Mobsta card, the app, and the delivery menu from Unilocal and the Luke’s Lobster website after visiting this location. not sure where the breakdown in terms of customer service or informing customers about said rewards programs… they simply might not care about having staff inform customers. weird, but whatevez. the lobster roll itself delicious. the lobster meat was full of sumptuous bitefuls of buttery chunks. the roll was still toasted and crisp. and the swipe of mayo gave a nice add of creamy fat. all in all good. and a great way to pregame eat before PATS take the field! and it held up after i ran errands, so kudos there. overall for a $ 19+ sandwich(sandwich price + tax n tip). the sandwich is about the size of a small hotdog(TINY) but is delicious. ALSO if you are a MAINE business why is there no PATRIOTS representation here especially if they are in the playoffs? like i said in the beginning of this review… this place is weird or was having an off day. main problem: the service. it’s barely there. if your lobster rolls are $ 17, you should be all about good customer service. the cashier seemed pretty comfortable jibber-jabbering and not really being in the moment of being an employee. as the guys on Comedy Central’s show WORKAHOLICS would sum up: the cashier is a «butthole. a loose butthole.» that’s neither here nor there, but kinda indicates the level of service here on a sleepy cold weekend. basically what i am saying is Luke’s is likely a 4.5 star joint, but the service cut my review down to 3 stars. drops mic. i out. zzz.

Ehhhh, this was a recommended place by a friend. I have to say that the lobster rolls are pretty good as they use fresh lobster meat. However, I myself simply can’t justify the price(around 17 dollars for a pretty small lobster roll). Cute place though.

So I’m late on the hype train. I finally got around to trying this place and it’s oh so famous lobster roll. The place is very small with only about 8 seats or so. FYI there is no bathroom. I ordered the lobster roll for $ 16 and the portion is great for a SNACK size not for a meal so don’t go in hungry! The entire roll was about the size of my hand. I have to say they did have good chunks of lobster in the roll. For the price I paid and the taste was not that exceptional or special, I would put this place as one of those«one-time» deals.

My fiancé heard about this place on Unilocal. They had a great Maine like atmosphere and the food tasted authentic. The inside of the restaurant was very small. Maybe about 8 seats or so all around the bar. A lot of people were ordering and standing up. The food came out quickly and it was very fresh! Definitely see why this place has such great reviews the food was fresh and awesome!

Popped my lobster roll cherry at Burger & Lobster, so I imagined all lobster rolls to be overly buttery and filled with mayo. Luckily, Luke’s was very damn fresh! I don’t hate the mayo and butter, but too much of it can make me feel guilty and I don’t like feeling guilty when I eat lol. The lobster filling here barely had that mayo taste and the bread itself was buttered but didn’t taste like a stick of butter was on there. Overall the lobster roll tasted very fresh and light! Not gonna lie though, there are cons to this. I wasn’t exactly super full after eating this one roll, but the price points here wouldn’t let me get another roll lol. I guess an incentive to come back are their punch cards! For all you lobster roll fans, this is dreams come true!

Yummy lobster rolls that even have a claw or two(mmm my favorite is the lobster finger!).It was the end of the night, so they threw in a cup of lobster bisque. It was creamy and chock full of lobster and delicious. The prices are pretty standard/expected for seafood. The rolls could stand to be a teensy bit bigger — they won’t fill you up — so I would recommend getting a soup or side.

$ 18 lobster roll with only 400cal? It was hard to believe the 400cal at first because we imagine tons of mayo like most lobster roll places, but not here. The lobster was seriously filled with tons of lobsters and not much mayo. And the buns were amazing. This place is very small and it doesn’t fit that many people. We came at random time in the afternoon so there wasn’t anyone there but us, and we were able to grab some seats. Definitely a great place if you want good lobster roll. Just not sure how they are compare to the ones in Boston since I haven’t been to Boston yet.

Are you looking for a yummmm quick lobster with a decent price– here is your address. Luke’s lobster is in a few places in NY, all serving as a fast food spot either to eat in or take away. My fav. is lobster roll(16 $). The mix of the sauce, hot bread and lobster is just like a dream. It’s quite a small bite so try to have it as an in between snack.(at least this is what we did). Gosh, one roll is never enough!!! You may also consider the menu’s– prices change in between 20 – 40 $.

I think this may be the original Luke’s Lobster, on 7th ave in the East Village There’s another one on the UES which is a little bigger and one in FiDi which is longer and narrower. The food is simple but good. Lobster seasoned with butter on a roll. Sometimes they put a bit too much butter, in my opinion. But it’s still pretty good. I just prefer less sauce.

ZOMG… soooo good… we got the sampler dish which consisted of a lobster, crab, and shrimp half rolls, coleslaw, and soda and got a clam chowder on the side. It was a little expensive but everything was seafood and DELICOUS and SOWORTHIT. The bread rolls were toasted to perfection. The seafood tasted soo fresh. Even the coleslaw was perfectly marinated. I wish I didn’t have to share… my first stop when I got back to NY!

Luke’s is unbelievably delicious. One of the best lobster rolls I have ever eaten. This always makes it on the list when I go on an eatery bender through the East Village. Rich, buttery, succulent, moist… All those adjectives that Giada uses. Yeah, it’s that. Go. Order two lobster rolls. One for you. And, one for Joey D. about to walk through the door.

I have only had food from this massively popular lobster roll chain at catered events, but would love to try their brick-and-mortar locations throughout Manhattan because they have yet to disappoint. Unlike most lobster rolls that are smothered in too much mayo, Luke’s lobster rolls have chilled lobster atop a buttered, toasted New England-syle split-top bun with just a swipe of mayo, a sprinkle of lemon butter, and a dash of its secret spices. You can really taste the freshness and texture of the lobster meat that isn’t completely drenched in mayonnaise. I have also tried the shrimp rolls, which are as equally as delicious. To sample a flight of all of their rolls, I’d recommend either the Taste of Maine(for 1 person) or Noah’s Ark(for 2 people), which includes ½ or 1 of each(lobster, crab, and shrimp) roll, 2 or 4 crab claws, chips, soda, slaw, and pickles.

Tried the Taste of Maine, and it lived up to previous reviews. The shrimp roll was better than expected, as was the crab roll. The lobster was fresh and tasty, not overdone in mayo or hidden among fillers. I’ll be honest though: I was satisfied, but not blown away. For $ 23, I expected more food. The rolls are smaller than anticipated, but the chips and drink add to the experience. Definitely try the ginger soda — spicy and refreshing.

Looky Luke Rollie Rolls! Okay this place was soooo hard to review because my mouth, wallet, and mind were all conflicted. Okay for food I gotta give a hands down 4 stars. I ordered a NOAH’s Ark up in here and here’s the breakdown: Crab Roll– very very salty to the point where it got unbearable/took away from overall taste of the roll(overpowering sodium) Lobster Roll– my favorite of the rolls! Generous portions of lobster and the bun was perfectly buttered and toasted! There was some sort of light sauce that wasn’t too strong but not too bland! Perfect! Shrimp Roll– pretty fresh and well marinated, but at the end of the day it’s just shrimpy shrimp ya feel? It was a tad bit bland, but still decent. Slaw– VINEGAR! This is not your average sweet slaw so be warned! This is fresh veggies with some vinegar/olive oil with a tiny bit of sweet on the side. It wasn’t to my liking but it is whut it is… Bread– one thing that bothered me about this joint was the inconsistency on the bread of the rolls. As mentioned above the bread on my lobster was perfect! But the other two rolls were not toasted to perfection– didn’t have a strong crunch game. When strong Luke’s can deliver an amazing roll with a warm soft yet crunchy bread, but when not it can taste more like soggy toast. Crab Claws– small… that’s it So my overall experience was pretty good. There’s a small seating area and the staff is pretty nice but man a lot of hard earned dollars went into building and consuming dat Ark doe! Price is hefty($ 44 for the Ark and $ 16 just for lobster roll) for the portions, but if your sharing with someone I think the Ark is the best value compared to individual rolls. Also the Ark comes with a side and drink. Ma fav is the Blueberry Soda! Get dat baby! I’d say do to the crabby disappointment and bun inconsistency and partially price I’d say 3.5 rounded down. But if it was based purely on taste… for the lobster roll i gotta roll out with 5 stars!

Awesome lobster roll. Gotta try when you’re in the area. With over 1000 reviews, it’s just a must! I got the lobster and the crab roll. The portion is so so for the amount of money you spend, but the flavor is worth the amount. They were both delicious.

Foncez !
