Really great shrimp roll and lobster grilled cheese, but everything else was kind of just a-ok. Considering the prices, not sure if a-ok is sufficient.

Came for a recommended sandwich and the employer recommend the Luke’s lobster crab roll, I ordered and delicious! I tried the claim chowder and also enjoyed. This place is a bit pricy and the portion is more like appetizer and the seating is cramped and limited. I would definitely come back again. It’s probably the best seafood sandwich shop on the upper west side.

Just had a lobster roll. Cold, minimally dressed lobster with a squirt of mayo on a warm butter-slathered toasted bun. The lobster was very fresh, sweet, and plentiful. I tried making them at home once and I failed. Its definitely better when the pros do it!

Location: 80th and Amsterdam (Stars are out of 10) Food and Drink: 10 star The lobster rolls here are absolutely phenomenal! They are perfectly buttered and the rolls are very warm and tasty. The lobster is also incredible. I recommend getting one lobster roll and one shrimp roll(make one a combo) or getting the Taste of Maine. The combo comes with a pickle, chips, and a drink. They have Cape Cod chips which are amazing, especially the sea salt and vinegar, and they have all different kinds of sodas including blueberry and ginger beer. Service and Wait-times: 8 star The service is good. Usually the food takes about seven minutes and so far every time I’ve been there at least 6 of the 18 seats have been open. Atmosphere and Décor: 10 star The restaurant is not too noisy and I don’t believe that there is any music. Luke’s does a great job of making sure that you feel like you are in a lobster shack. They have a blackboard with chalk scripture as their menu and a big painting of people fishing. They have rustic wooden stools and a little bit of fishing decoration including buoys. Price: 7 star Seafood rolls are always expensive, and Luke’s does a good job of not overpricing. A meal their cost about $ 24 assuming that you get the Taste of Maine. Not Bad.

We’ve had lobster rolls up and down the Maine coast — it’s one of our favorite foods. The ones at Luke’s are just as good as any we’ve had in Maine, but smaller and more expensive — but then, this is the upper west side of Manhattan, and not Belfast or Rockport Maine. Luke’s is a very casual, tiny little place, with just a handful of high tables, total seating for maybe a dozen people. So expect a wait for a seat if you come at prime dinner time on a weekend. But it’s worth it, and has the feeling of a Maine lobster roll shack. The lobster is served in proper Maine style — warm(but not hot), with just a touch of butter. Other places will slather it in mayonnaise, which is blasphemy! Why ruin the taste of good lobster by drowning it in white muck? Luke’s knows that real lobster rolls need nothing but a touch of butter. They’re served on proper split hot dog rolls, lightly toasted just the right way. And that’s it — delicious lobster pieces, a little butter, a toasted hot dog roll — and you’ve got an instant culinary trip downeast. Also in Maine style, the lobster rolls are served with chips(Cape Cod brand, of course). Add a Shipyard Export, and you have the perfect meal without having to drive 400 miles. They also usually have soups, crab or lobster bisque. They’re good on a cold night, but truth be told, aren’t as fabulous as the lobster rolls, usually too heavy on the cream and spices. If you have the hankering for a real lobster roll, but can’t take 3 days for a round trip to Maine, Luke’s will definitely hit the spot.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good lobster roll, but Luke’s lobster is so over priced. I usually go for the soup and half lobster combo. I really enjoy their lobster bisque, but that half lobster roll is equal to about two bites. I just wish I got more for the price.

Luke’s Lobster has probably the best lobster roll I have ever had. The great thing is that the lobster is fresh from Maine and they are not afraid to let you know that! FOOD: I ordered a Lobster Roll combo with the soup, so came with lobster bisque, lobster roll, pickle, and slaw(or chips if you want). I will have to say the stars were the lobster bisque and lobster roll. The bisque was great because it was warm, hearty, and you could taste the lobster. It was great for a cool fall day in New York City. After that, the lobster roll, oh god. The lobster tail meat is not skimped on and is bountiful on that roll. The roll is slightly toasted and buttered and then the lobster is. So simple, yet so fresh, so it has the best flavor. I cannot rave how good that roll is. You simply order at the front and then find a place to sit. I will say there is not a large sitting area, but luckily I showed up at 2:00 on a Sunday, so it was no problem to find a whole table to myself. I am love with Luke’s and know that if I’m on the Upper West Side, I will definitely find myself back there!

Visiting NYC for the weekend and went on one of my urban walks to explore the city. I was on the west side of central park and just finished visiting the American Museum of Natural History when I was craving some good food. I had tried lobster rolls, but being from bay area, figured I’d get better stuff in the northeast. In comes Unilocal the rescue and points me to Luke’s Lobster! Got a simple lobster roll. Price on point for lobster roll, but the flavor was unbelievable. The lobster tasted so fresh, but what actually put it all together was the lightly butter and TOASTED roll. The contrasting temperatures, textures, and flavors made for a mouth water experience!

The place is small but the atmosphere is nice and friendly. There are five main choices: lobster roll($ 16), crab roll(13 $), shrimps roll(8 $), taste of Maine(23 $) which is half a roll of the three kinds plus a drink and a prickle, Noah’s arch(44 $), which is a meal for two and is basically twice the taste of Maine. The food is excellent.

Being Catholic I totally respect fishermen. Lobster catchers should have alters. SO when I set out to Luke’s I plan days in advance. By plan I mean, pick the appropriate partner, know in advance what my choices will be and leave room for experimentation. This past Wednesday a friend and I did yoga at Central Park and since we had to wear white I figured we’d go to Luke’s after. I got the lobster combo, with soup, cole slaw and crumb bite. She got the lobster combo, soup, cole slaw and went back for a shrimp roll. I didn’t eat my crumb roll till the next day since we hydrated with beer(s) and I didn’t feel like sobering up before heading home. When I finally had it I was SO disappointed. I always get the crumb bite and absolutely love it. This time it was dry, not fruity enough and completely underwhelming. It was not cool. I’m not taking away the catcher’s alter BUT if the formula changed, it needs to be unchanged. Change isn’t good.

Great lobster rolls but sooooo much overrated and overpriced! You can go to any place in Boston and have a better lobster than this one. It’s kind of small for what you pay. Still I think it’s the best option for lobster rolls in the city

Traveling with my family of 5. I have an Autistic son with a service dog. The waiter refused to serve us, pointing out the ‘no dog’ policy. I showed him that it was a service dog(wearing a vest, harness and special tags). He was clearly not in agreement that it’s a working dog that is allowed into the restaurant, and told me he ‘didn’t like it’. Rather than reward his discrimination, we decided to take our money elsewhere.

Cute space, great, friendly service. Brought a group of 4 here to try for first time even though I am not really a big seafoodie. We got the taste of maine… should’ve gotten the noah’s ark considering how small the portion was to split between 4 people! The claws and shrimp roll were delicious; lobster and crab rolls were okay. The bread roll they came in were amazing — crispy and buttered on the inside. Heavenly. As for the drinks… YUM Mexican Cola Lemon-Lime Soda Mandarin Orange Soda NOTYUM Sarsaparilla. just no. tasted like bleach in a bottle to me. rest of fam hated it too.

Now that I live in New England, I was a little skeptical about enjoying a lobster roll in NYC, but Luke’s definitely means business and keeps things authentic. For $ 16, we got one lobster roll. It was pure lobster(none of that goopy stuff) with butter and a light herb topping. I couldn’t put my finger on what the herb topping is, but it is seriously delicious and unique; it augments the lobster really nicely. The menu is simple, though they have specials some days. I would definitely come back. I only wish this location had more seating.

HANDSDOWN the best lobster roll I’ve eaten. The bread was crunchy, toasted, buttery, but soft and SOMUCH lobster inside! It was very flavorful. To be honest, I don’t remember much about eating it because I ate it so fast, it was THAT good! Def a go-to if youre craving lobster roll. The price is based on market price, I paid around $ 17 i think?

I love quality seafood so it is only fitting that I made time to check out Luke’s Lobster during my visit two weeks ago. My girlfriend and I ordered the Noah’s Ark which consisted of 1 lobster roll, 1 crab roll, 1 shrimp roll, four crab claws, two bags of Cape Cod chips and two bottles of sodas($ 44). My girlfriend didn’t like the the fact that the seafood on the rolls was served cold. I enjoyed it though. The crab roll was my favorite, with the lobster roll being a close second. I wasn’t a big fan of the shrimp roll though, it just didn’t taste as good. The lobster and crab tasted very fresh and I like the mayo spread on the butter roll. The only gripe I have with this Luke’s Lobster location is that it’s very small. More than likely, you might have to share a table with another group of patrons. Luke’s Lobster is also expensive for a «fast-food atmosphere», but the high price point is justifiable because of the high quality fresh seafood they serve. Hey, rent in the Upper West Side isn’t cheap either! btw, don’t sit at the table by the store window that overlooks the street. The table isn’t flat structurally and your bottle soda will literally slide right off it! I saw it happen to an unfortunate lady.

One thing I really wanted to try while I had my mini vacay to NYC was to eat east coast lobster roll. I looked on Unilocal and found this restaurant to be close to where I was staying. My cousin and I ventured out to Luke’s Lobster for an early lunch on a Friday. We had both ordered a lobster roll($ 15/ea) and shared some clam chowder($ 8). When our food came out, we dug into our rolls because we were starving. The roll was excellent. A good ratio or the buttery roll and lobster. Lobster tasted fresh and was lightly mixed with mayo. The clam chowder was good, but I have had better. It was enough to make my cousin and I full. My cousin’s hubby is from Boston and she made a comment that the roll was just as good. This place is super small so you may have to wait a while to get a seat or order to go.

Came here during lunch on a cold Friday afternoon. My two friends and I shared the Noah’s Ark: 1 shrimp roll, 1 lobster roll, 1 crab roll, 5 crab claws, 2 drinks, and 2 bags of chips. Ever since I tried Luke’s Lobster during my last trip to NY, its become one of my go to spots that I have to eat at for any future trip I make. The rolls that the sandwiches are made out of taste so good and are topped off with very fresh seafood. And although I never drink soda(ever!) when I do come here, I will have their Blueberry soda with my meal. I recommend getting a variety and sharing it with your party, but if you are eating solo they do have combos too that you can order.
