This place is wonderful for pick up as well as dine in. The tomato soup is so delicious and is perfect with their grilled cheese. They also have it to go if you want to make your own grilled cheese at home! The kale & quinoa salad is also excellent if you feel like you need to mix in some veggies. So happy to have this in the neighborhood.

Outstanding food. Croquettes were exceptionally good. Bone marrow was amazing with a lemon purée. House made Paneer with pea shoot salad was so fresh and as beautiful as it delicious. Cheese plates were made special because the artisanal cheese was paired with terrific condiments. Everything was 5 star. A big and pleasant surprise to come across such fine, fine food in a wine bar environment. The chicken liver mousse was served with house made rhubarb jam and is so off the chart I can’t stop thinking about it. And it cost $ 14.00 for an extremely generous serving. With extra bread, enough for four to share. Beautiful section of condiments, yogurts and take away food.

Lucy’s Whey far exceeded my expectations. What I love about this place is that when entering, it is a cheese store. To the right of the store upon entering the curtains, you have a dining area with a long bar. The bar consists of a selection of wine, beer, and coffee goodness. The menu consists of light snacks, cheese/charcuterie, soup, sandwiches, lunch plates, and desserts as well as an extensive wine and beer list either by the bottle or by the glass. I decided to opt for the sorisso’s spicy sopressata. The sandwich had layers of sopressata, chorizo picante, lettuce, pickled peppers with a roasted garlic aioli spread served in a wake baguette. They had be at the garlic spread because I’m a garlic freak! The baguette was amazing. It was crunchy but not like the ones that are so hard to bite into. Although the layers of meats seemed a bit thin the sandwich was still bursting with flavors. The garlic aioli was such a good complement to that particular sandwich. I will definitely be coming back for more to try other plates. Jen was so nice and sweet as well. I really enjoyed the ambiance.

Great little shop. The place is very clean and staff is friendly and helpful(especially Connor and Olivia). There is a very large selection of delicious cheese and other products. I believe they have a little café attached. Walking there now as I type this.

Easily one of the best spots in the UES with a hand-curated selection of incredible local food products! Attached to the shop is a small restaurant and café that’s also fabulous. Everything is made with a lot of love and attention.

Watch out for chicken bones. I ordered the chicken club. The bread was charred in places. When I mentioned the bread was charred(black) I was told it comes that way. The small chicken bone in my sandwich did not cause me to choke etc but there is very little excuse for it in a restaurant charging $ 15 for a sandwich. Someone needs to pay some attention to detail. There is way too much competition in that neighborhood for«good enough.» Hope it makes it.

Where’s the cheese? After reading the reviews, I expected better, or at least I expected to find some cheese in the grilled cheese sandwich instead of the remnants of melted something. The tomato soup, though tasty, was not really hot. I wondered why this place wasn’t packed in the lunch hours before a concert at the 92md Street Y, but it was virtually empty. No bang for the buck? No bang at all. Too bad.

Hands down my favourite grilled cheese and tomato soup in the city! Super pleasant staff too. Nothing else to add. Just go. And don’t bother with the half and half words of wisdom: get a full sandwich!

Food: A really excellent café on the upper east side. Started with a really great cheese platter. Followed it up with a creamy, flavorful macaroni and cheese and an unbelievable short rib sandwich — juicy, tender meat, delicious gorgonzola cheese, and all sandwiched between crusty bread. Great wine selection as well. Ambiance: cute café feel, but still very intimate. I love the cheese shop next door concept. Service: A+. My waitress was so knowledgable about the cheeses they had available that day and was spot on. Bottom line: 4⁄5 stars. Excellent, but expensive lunch/dinner option on the UES. Besides the cheese platter, definitely try the short rib sandwich. Really as good as it gets.

I’ve known of their shop within Chelsea Market for years but I never got to try them until recently when I found myself in the Upper East side for an impromptu lunch date. This is a great lunch spot and cheese shop. Had a grilled cheese sandwich with prosciutto and fig jam that I loved so much it’s now my go-to combination when making grilled cheese sandwich at home. If I lived in the neighborhood I’d definitely be coming here for my regular supply of quality cheese.

Great Cheesemongers who know and take great care of their cheeses. Always a very pleasant wait staff. Lovely wine list at great prices for the neighborhood and now w/the chef from Glasserie! Can’t go wrong!

Terrific cheese shop with knowledgeable counter people and a great selection. The café is also pretty cool. Great neighborhood spot as well as a perfect place to pick up a tray as a gift if you have to go somewhere.

The cheese shop might work. I’m not sure about the café. The food in the café is overpriced. I can go to Earl’s just a few blocks up Park Avenue. They have a huge grilled cheese and better menu selection. Earl’s only charges $ 8! The Wine Down sign in the window is a cute touch. Maybe stopping in to buy some wine and cheese after work will be the next big thing on Lexington Avenue. If this neighborhood needs a specialty cheese shop, I guess it will survive. They have a beautiful location and store. I want to wish them luck!

Came here for a 4 course tasting menu. They did wine pairings as well for each course and there were different cheeses included which was well thought out and presented. Started with a Manchego with honey almonds and figs, a kale salad with feta, Mac and cheese with arugula and asparagus and dessert was truly outstanding– banana pudding with chocolate. I would always get this one, it’s one of the better versions of the dessert and it’s very filling. The waitress was very helpful and good with us, offering to pack up food and giving us tips on the cheese and wine pairings. Nice little location too, clean simple and no frills but did seem a little expensive for the food that we got.

I went there to check out the place. I ordered a latte, which took a while as there was a person in training. This is acceptable and I didn’t mind. The girl end up messing it, and ask the Barista to make one for me. It was thoughtful of her as I didn’t want to pay for a crapy latte. However then the actual barista made the coffee, but what was disappointing was the actual amount of latte I got. I have attached a picture, and I only had 2 sips but the amount of latte was unacceptable. Plus, the latte had no foam whatsoever indicating that they didn’t bother to steam the milk. It doesn’t even taste good. Although, he apologized for the delay but still the entire service was disappointing.

Mac and cheese and grilled cheese with fig are amazing! Cute low-key place for a date or dinner with a friend. Intimate setting but still relaxed.

Great little cheese shop and attached café(with a respectable menu). We’ve come here for the cheeses(our favorites are the local triple-cream NY cheeses), and for breakfast — the breakfast sandwich with ham is excellent, and the coffee is pretty good too.

I’ve been living in the neighborhood for about two years and was always intrigued by the cute décor of the restaurant. I finally went on a whim with a friend tonight, and am very happy that I did! We went at 6:30pm on a Thursday night and surprisingly nobody else was there. I ordered the burrata and peaches salad but with the pickled onions separated. It was incredible! A pretty simple dish, but very tasty and fresh. The burrata was creamy and the peaches were very very sweet. My friend ordered the Mac & Cheese which was equally tasty, but in my opinion the smaller side. I think that Lucy’s Whey has a lot of potential that they don’t meet to be honest. The ambience is a little off, and I can see why they don’t have more customers. The restaurant is a little awkwardly attached the cheese shop, but they can add some more mood music, dim the lights a little more, and bring the candles out earlier. Even hanging some bulb lights in the window could attract more people. Considering the food and wine are very good, I thought this spot was underrated and could do with some more attention!

Lucy’s was the first meal my friend and I had in New York and it definitely did not disappoint. We had decided to each get a tomato grilled cheese combo, but each getting different grilled cheese sandwiches, so we could try a variety of sandwiches. The tomato soup was somewhat tart, somewhat savory, and very nicely flavored. Did that even make sense? I loved dipping the sandwiches into the tomato soup. BUT, after a while it did start getting a bit salty so I could not finished it, I even asked for low salt too. We each got to try the Lucy’s grilled cheese with a fig jam. That was my friends favorite for the sweet fig jam paired perfectly with the tart tomato soup! The cheese was stringy, and you could tell that it was good quality cheese. It did get a bit sweet for me but all in all it was still very good. We also had the cheddar and balsamic grilled cheese. THATONEWASMYFAVORITE. I personally just love balsamic and it paired perfectly with the cheese. It was perfectly toasted, wasn’t too sweet, and had a unique taste to it. It was a great lunch and the overall atmosphere was great. The service was a 5⁄5 too :)
