Absolutely horrible customer service. Employees just disappear when you ask them for something. Beyond having their heads in the clouds they know absolutely nothing about the areas in which they work

Smaller selection than the Home Depot around the corner BUT they always seem to have what I need or didn’t know I needed. Plus the service is significantly better than Home Depot where if you’re lucky to find someone to help you the employee never seems to have the knowledge to be helpful.

Everyone is fairly incompetent here, so come prepared with your homework done. Also, whatever air freshener they’re pumping through the vents here needs to die — this place smells like a funeral.

The store had a lot of nice associates working, but they were not very helpful. I believe they need more training on what the store does and does not carry. I left and went to Home Depot after an unsuccessful search with three associates for a simple L bracket.

Lowes: there is a well-established Home Depot a few blocks away… can you improve your game just a little so as not to resemble a Keystone Kops tag team running a sloppy yard sale? The staff here is sleepy, uninspired, acting like a bunch of high school students on summer break detail. Need help? Good luck, these people don’t get it. Looking to avoid such wastes of time, I ordered an item online and had it delivered to the store. Their web site told me it would be ready Tuesday, the call came Friday… and they still took 25 minutes to *find* the item. Ineptitude on a huge level. The manager(Matthew, why you have been allowed to keep your job is a mystery) was a ghost — nowhere to be found. Picture employees scurrying around, paging this guy. Just a huge waste of time. Never again.

The employees have no clue about home improvement. They look puzzled when you ask them. Home Depot on 23 street is way better!

Nice new small location. Friendly people. Went to shop for a new stainless steel refrigerator and stove. No sale prices were listed. I brought this up to the person working there and she never fixed the situation. I tried to look up pricing on line, but they make you place items in the cart before seeing the sale price. What a waste of time… We want TRANSPARENCY, not shopping games.

Poor inventory availability in its Manhattan stores and charges a ridiculous amount for shipping. I was looking for a Bissell vacuum, but it wasn’t available in any of the Manhattan stores. Went online and the website suggests that you call customer service for availability — I thought it was strange that the website cannot check availability automatically and had to get a human being involved. After waiting on the phone for 15 minutes, customer service says this model is not available in any of the stores on the east coast, and it would cost $ 41 to ship it from a west coast store — no wonder they don’t want to show this info on the website. We are talking about a 10 lb compact vacuum — who pays $ 41 for shipping a 10 lb package in this day of age? Ended up ordering from Bed Bath & Beyond — they ship it for free.

I was surprised to find a Lowes here… Guess it’s a new location. The store is nicely laid out but it just doesn’t compare to what you can find at Home Depot. We needed some LEDs, but 100s are kind of hard to find in store — not just at Lowes. They only had a few light bulbs. Seriously I know it’s in the city and space is limited, but it’s difficult to buy anything if there’s only a few items of everything. They have kitchens models upstairs with really tall refrigerators. Im too short to reach the top! Also needed some pendant lights, and they didnt have that many on display, it’s just easier to shop online at this point. Loved the backsplash in the kitchen, would consider remodeling my own one day, since it’s still brand new.

I’m happy to have a lowes in my neighborhood. I went in for two items I needed to do a little bathroom upgrading and one they had and one they didn’t. Which I thought was odd, being that they should’ve had both. The cashier was nice and helpful however. But I can’t help feeling disappointed. So I guess the only thing I can say is, maybe they’ll have what you need and maybe they won’t. Lol. Best of luck!

So Lowe’s Home Improvement stores have finally made an in-road into the NYC market. Being around the corner and down the street from their arch-nemesis, Home Depot, is not surprising. This is the second store in Manhattan opened in as many months, with the first one on the upper west side at Broadway &68th St. This one in Chelsea has 2 floors with only a limited smattering of stock you would normally find at a full sized Lowe’s in the suburbs. All of the floor space is geared towards NYC apartment dwellers as you would expect with fancy model kitchens and bathrooms you can aspire to cram into your 300 sq ft studio apartment. Don’t expect to find a lumber or gardening department beyond a wood shelf or a potted gardenia. Being such a new store, everything is neat and tidy, as you’d expect at any Lowe’s and every sales associate smiles & greets you. If you’re looking for LED fixtures, a new kitchen faucet or a power drill, you’d be in luck. Some major appliances are also on display for order on the 2nd floor. They even have a design department if you’re looking to revamp your space. If you’re shopping for anything out of the ordinary, you’d probably have better chances getting it on-line or have them order it for in-store pickup which many of the associates can do from their tablets.
