Patient, encouraging and a great teacher. First time on a board but felt safe and comfortable because I knew he always had my back.

Louie has incredible patience. His students love him & he also knows the exactly what to say to a nervous parent. My 8 year old daughter wanted to learn and I didn’t have the faintest idea where or how to get her started. We did one private lesson in Central Park and now she’s doing a weekend group lesson at Riverside Park. She’s ecstatic and I’m a happy daddy.

The lessons were very laid back. Those of us with skateboards paid $ 20 each. Those who wanted to rent, $ 30(board, helmet, and pads — though he didn’t bring any this time — are included). The lessons were very basic and nothing too crazy. We learned how to position ourselves on the boards and how to get off them. We learned how to tilt our body weight to steer the board and also how to use our weight make at 360 turn. In my opinion, pads are not needed. i fell once but it really was nothing. My friends fell a couple of times and though they were padded, they fell on areas that were not padded(their tushies or hands). We met Louie at Riverside Park uptown at the skate park. It was a little intimidating to be stared down by kids half our size and age but what the heck. We all hafta start from somewhere! I definitely recommend for beginners. Louie was also teaching the more advanced students while working with us but that did not deter him from teaching us what we needed to know. Give it a try! :)
