Thank you for an incredible night! A special thanks to Doug Jacobson for helping me plan the entire night! Had a surprise engagement party setup downstairs in the private room for almost 100 people and it was absolutely perfect! Able to play our own music, drinks were fantastic, everyone had a great time, and the bartender was awesome! Thank you guys for an unforgettable night — will certainly be back and highly recommend for anyone looking for a private party room!

Dont fucking go here. Youll be annoyed by a big bouncer to sit down even as you’re saying goodbye to your friends in the backyard. You pay expensive drinks to be constantly harassed by an annoying big dude with less brain cells than an ameba to sit down as he takes more space than 7 regular sized people. Never coming back

Cool little place. It’s super loud even when it’s not terribly busy. I got the sausage party. Which means I had 7 different weiners in my mouth. 3 of them were delicious and I finished to completion. The other 4 were ok… The spaetzle was phenomenal. Definitely a cool place to eat overall.

I went there with a bunch of friends to watch a Eurocup game today. The bar has a great beer selection an an outdoor area — basically we loved it until we had to deal with the hostess. It was very crowded so that we bought beers at the bar and moved outside not knowing that there is a table service out there. The hostess came out screaming that«we have to show some respect…». We apologized, promised to buy more beer and food from the waiter outside(which we all did). She came out several times to check out on us and ultimately shoved some more people at our table making us move away from the screen so that we couldn’t watch the game. I have no idea what prompted the nastiness. We all came straight from work, sober, hungry, and excited to watch some football. We were polite, even despite the bad treatment — basically perfect customers. Your hostess clearly needs some customer service training or if she doesn’t like to deal with people maybe she should switch jobs. This was really odd, especially because every other person working at Loreley was very nice — as you should expect when your job is customer service.

The buffalo wings were really good, and so was the service but the bathroom trash looks like it’s never been taken out. I was very bothered by it. Overall the food was great.

First the positive. Our waiter was very nice and efficient as the place was packed. The negative. First, we researched to see if they had our favorite beer Franziskaner Hefe-Weisse on tap as their website states. We also called ahead just to make sure before we made the commute downtown. Well we arrived and were told we don’t sell that beer anymore it’s seasonal. We asked about updating the website and we were told sorry… Second, there are two bathrooms. If you see the two table tops in the dining room(left hand side) don’t take those as the line for the bathroom will be a little to close for comfort. Patrons coming and going will pass you and at times run into you. Plus you can’t hear across the table top because you have the noise from the bar and the dining room.

The staff and service at this place was AWFUL. I wanted to like it because the beer was decent(just typical beer hall selection) and the schnitzel fingers were pretty good but me and my group were so turned off by the staff that we vowed never to return. I was with a group of 8 – 10 people at a table inside, and we were ordering lots of beer and food. Yet the waiter kept very rudely asking us how much longer we’d be there– which would be bad service on any occasion but was especially strange given that we weren’t just sitting there– we were spending lots of money. Eventually the hostess came over and told us we had to sit outside because they wanted to turn the table over. Once outside, members of the group were forced to sit on wet benches and in the rain since the tent did not cover the span of the table. Despite there being plenty of other tables open outside, we were again questioned about how long we would be there and made very uncomfortable. This place clearly cares way more about their customer turnover than providing a decent experience to paying customers– avoid unless you only plan on staying for one drink. Just awful.

Two toilets… Really? If I was opening a Biergarten I would consider that a patron consuming a litre of beer might need to relieve him or her self on occasion. Yet this establishment has only two toilets for such activities. They must have expected skinny hipsters who only sip vodka. Update: The owner says that they had a plumbing issue last night, so you may be saved, and I may add a star or two.

I miss this place so much when I’m not in the LES neighborhood. The selection of great German beers is amazing. The food is pretty damned good. you’ve got great German schnitzels and fresh pretzels to wash it down with some of the best beers in the world. There’s an outdoor garden which is lovely in the summer. Thing I like the most is the camaraderie that usually appears, there is just a great mojo toward this biergarten that is friendly and welcoming.

I really wanted to love this place, as a stand-in for my old East Village favorite, the departed Wechsler’s. Arriving just as they opened the place for brunch at noon, there was only one other group, but the place started to fill up at about 1. Drinks were fine, I really enjoyed my Schneider Weisse. We each ordered a brunch plate, I had the eggs with schnitzel, my wife eggs Benedict and my daughter weisswurst. I also went for an order of pretzels. Our server asked if I wanted them before or with the entrees, and I said with so as not to delay my fellow diners. The food took a long time coming, and the plates arrived well before the pretzels. The eggs Benedict was the best of the lot, a typical Manhattan brunch dish. The weisswurst were served in a bowl in the proper manner, but needed more accompaniment. My schnitzel was overcooked and the scrambled eggs with chopped piggy along with it were wan, likely prepared on a flattop instead of an omelette pan. My plate came with diner style home fries rather than the potato pancakes listed on the online menu. A disappointing plate of food. The warm, soft pretzels partially redeemed the meal. I’ll give it another shot. I would certainly come back on a warm day to sit in the back garden with beer and pretzels.

I love Loreley. I came here after work and was so excited about this place. It’s basically German Biergarten right off Bowery with great outdoor seating. I was amazingly surprised that Loreley has HUGE steins. I’ve always wanted to have them and during happy hour they’re only $ 12. So I was beyond down to drink at Loreley. I had the buffalo wings, they were good. But I LOVED the beer it was delicious. They also have a huge selection to choose from, both domestic and European beers. I would definitely come back, and tell everyone I know… COMEHERE. It’s a great place for the summer.

Came here on a march spring Friday after dinner in the LES. Decent selection of beers with OK pricing. Was crowded but not overbearing. Was able to get a table to watch the games. There was a beer garden promoted but no one was out there because it was too cold. Would come back again. Staff in the black tees were attentive and friendly.

Oh Loreley, you are the personification of my grad school years. The beers are large, the food is good and the atmosphere is nice. It’s got a great location compared to most beer gardens and for being in manhattan it’s got a pretty nice sized outside area. I’ve had great friends move away for various reasons, but whenever they’re back in town we meet at Loreley to bring it all back.

The food was good and so was the beer, but at the end of the night, a bus boy spilled a glass of red wine all over my shirt and sweater, and both are now ruined. It was an accident, these things happen, however, when one of the waitresses asked what I wanted, I told her a coupon or a gift certificate would be nice since my clothes were ruined. She walked away and I presumed she was getting them, but then when she didn’t come back I went back up to her and asked again. She was so unbelievably rude and said: «Look, accidents happen, someone spilled water on me the other day, there’s not much that we can do and I guarantee the stains will come out.» It wasn’t what she said, but how she said it, as if we weren’t the customer. I used to work at a restaurant and we would never let something like that happen. There was no acknowledgement that it was completely their fault, nor did she do anything to rectify the situation. Our own waiter was nice and felt bad and did bring out a shot, but the damage was already done.

My friend rented the downstairs party room(for free!) for her birthday party on a Friday night and we had an awesome time. Our bartender(dedicated to us for the night) was attentive and personable, and he even let us control the music and decorate the chalkboard, which gave our party a fun and personal touch. They brought out cake and a candle for my friend which was really cute. The downstairs is a big space and we had plenty of room to sit, stand and dance. We had such a great time and I definitely recommend having your birthday party here if you’re looking for a fun, not-a-scene place on the LES. Oh and order the pretzels!

I genuinely liked this place even though we had to pack in there for a birthday celebration. Wasn’t able to make it to the back to explore since the crowd was crazy and I was a bit too sober to bully my way back there. One thing to note, the bartender was extremely short with me – I was probably the only sober one there and I wasn’t being difficult at all. I simply asked for his suggestion for a light wheat beer. He practically refused to give me a menu and then when my friend’s parents were saying hello to me and I couldn’t ignore them, he was visibly pissed that I couldn’t immediately tell him whether to keep my card open or closed. It was just a bit off-putting. Overall, I enjoyed the beer and the atmosphere – good music too.

Perfect spot to host an after work Ocktoberfest gathering. They have an outdoor patio area which was nice to accommodate 20 people. The beer selection was good, mixture of light, authentic and seasonal. The staff was very friendly and attentive especially in going over the menu of what to order for a big group. Get the sausage party platter and the cheese spatzle which was delicious! If you are looking to try a mix of German beers and food, this is the place to go.

Backyard has a great, fun vibe but the waitstaff is extremely precise about it being table service back there. Fine, but it took a LONG time for someone to come to our table. This was understandable given the crowd, but why don’t they just let people order at the bar and bring their drink to the back? Particularly because at this point there wasn’t even a spot to sit at, so we were standing. The waiter was pretty hostile and condescending about it too. I get that it wasn’t his policy and influences his tips but he was a little harsh for my taste. They also added a service charge to the bill without flagging it for us beforehand, which is annoying. I don’t actually know if I’d come back, if I want to relax in a backyard on a gorgeous day, I don’t really want to be hassled at the same time or fret about splitting a check with 30 other people.

Would recommend coming early enough to sit outside in the beer garden. Really nice space outside with plenty of tables, you have to be seated a la waiter service etc. We tried a few beers and the curry sausage, it came with fries, which were suuuuper delicious. The curry sausage I would definitely recommend, the curry isn’t super heavy and its big enough to share between two people as a nice appetizer. The heifewizen beer option is also really good, and on the more ~alcoholic~ side, so would recommend that as well. The wait staff were a little spacey/weird(mostly just the hostess), but otherwise really good option for area.

German bier garten spot that I’ve been too several times. Great selection of authentic, imported German beer which, in my experience, has always been fresh and tasty. You can get .5L mugs or(my personal favorite) 1.0L Mass Steins’ of authentic Gaffel Kölsch. Outside patio seating with covered wooden benches gives an authentic Oktoberfest ‘feel’ all year round. I’ve been here twice: once for a birthday(excellent b-day spot btw) and once as a night cap. The sausage platter is AMAZING and worth the $ 27. Get it with their fries and you have the best pair for your beer. Servers were attentive, bathrooms clean, and the patrons were nice and welcoming. Overall great food, beer, and service. Can’t ask for much else.

I went to Loreley on a Saturday afternoon and found it to be a nice spot to chill on a summer day. The inside is sports bar-esque and crowded and dark, but the back garden is nicer to sit and talk with friends while drinking one of their beers. If you’re in the area and are in this type of mood, check it out — I don’t think it’s anything to write home about, but it does the job.

3.5 stars… Loreley is a German spot with the classic mugs of German beers on draft, and the obligatory menu full of things like sausage, pretzel, and schnizel. I came with with a bachelors party. They really messed up with our reservations gave us the run around but once everything was properly sorted they definitely made up for it. They have a deal where if you get a certain number of people in your party and pay a flat fee per person then it’s open bar for an hour. When I found out the bar was actually very small and that Loreley is mostly waiter service in the dining area I figured I wouldn’t have that much to drink while waiting for service on a busy Saturday night, that was definitely not the case. I’m not sure if they were just trying to make up for messing up or if this was normal(I would suggest checking on this if you’re interested in a similar deal) but we were allowed any drink anything(even top shelf shots) and the service was amazing and quick. We definitely got our money worth. We all ended up getting food as well and everyone was pretty happy with what they got(meals are $ 10 – 20). I hear the normal beer prices here are $ 7 ish so that would put this place out of my normal rotation. Apparently they have(or had) a back yard but it was dark and mid February so I didn’t get a chance to see if it was there. If I get confirmation on the beer prices and back patio I’ll make sure to add an update here.

If I had to describe this place in 3 words it would be German Frat Haus. This place has your steins, your sausages and your very loud music! It has some very large tables in the back and outside which are great for groups and the atmosphere is really lively and fun! In the front it’s pretty much standing room around the bar and that gets pretty rowdy – I’d stick to the back if you want to hear the person you’re having a conversation with. Overall a good time with attentive service, just don’t get this place confused with your average chill beer hall.

Came here for a friends birthday. OMG their fries are so ridiculously good. I mean the schnitzel is amazing too, but the fries!(I’m a big fries fan). Drinks were decent, really enjoyed my gin and tonic. They have a great selection of drinks(beer! liquor! cocktails! huzzah!). Everything was decently priced for the location(near So Ho). Definitely a good place to check out, though it did get a little crowded with some bros later on in the night(though that might have just been that night/my opinion). There’s multiple TVs that either show sports or movies that are playing on TV(they started playing Batman, when I was there) Service is quick and efficient, good for bars. There’s also a downstairs/basement, though I din’t get to check it out as we stayed in the back on the first floor. The front of the Loreley has a bar, the back is more like a restaurant. Overall, good food, good service, good drinks. What more can you ask for in a bar?

This place is absolutely lovely during the warmer weather, when you can sit outside in their«garden». They offer indoor seating and a bar area where you can pick up a drink without waiting for the server. They have a good selection of beer and servers who is knowledgeable of the beers profile. I came here 2 times and ordered food everytime. Their food is awesome! I especially love their potato salad, it’s not heavy on mayo and the flavors is all there! It’s so good to find good potato salad these days. The pretzels are soft and freshly baked, worth the money. I wish I knew it was a salted pretzel before placing my order though because I would have asked them to give it to me without salt. Just a personal preference. If you are coming here for the first time, trying looking for a groupon. It’s a great value. If you can’t decide on a drink or food, order the beer flight and sausage party. You get to try 4 different beers(their choice) and 6 different sausages. I like the chicken sausage, and there was one that tasted like a hamburger! I would absolutely come back here just for a casual night of drinking. The space is big enough to accommodate multiple large groups.

*Don’t come here on a first date. Grab your crew. Grab some HUGE brews. Grab yourself a sausage or two. And do as the Germans do. Actually I’ve never been to Germany, I’ve just frequented many a beer haus here in the states. Zum Schneider has always been my go to but when my friend told me she needed a spot for about 15 people I decided on Loreley. We had no intention but to have a great loud time and get loudly drunk while singing along to every song. We were highly encouraged to do so. Again if you’re looking for a night where you and boo sip craft beers and talk about the loft you want to get in Queens(because Brooklyn is just #tooexpensivenow) don’t sway this way. If you’re looking for a solid group spot. Get on over.

I love BEER! Particularly the German and Belgian ones! In the warmer months there is outdoor communal seating on long benches in the courtyard. There is limited seating inside so it’s really quite necesarry to utilize both seating areas when the place is crowded. There is limited seating inside and optional seating at the bar for those dining or drinking alone. My go to beer is usually Weihenstephaner to get my buzz on but I occasionally stray and sample some of the others. The bartenders are usually cool and will let you try whatever is on tap if you’ve never had it before. The samples are generous as well. The food is typical German fare, schnitzel, mayo fries, brats, spaetzle and such. The chef usually doesn’t like to alter any of the meals. I asked for something with cheese that normally doesn’t come with cheese and it was like GASP! that’s not how it’s served. I don’t think the chef will prepare it this way. Let me go and ask him hahahaha and yea he said no. If I had to guess it’s probably because they don’t usually stock topping cheeses. It’s more like the imported stuff that’s served on cheese plates. Okay then, stubborn in your recipe’s much. The waitresses are very blunt and straight forward. It is the German way afterall. The bartender’s are usually nicer. The food was okay but nothing out of the ordinary. The beer and the ambiance is really what makes this place.

After multiple fails at different close by bars, we were just desperate to quench our thirst. The place wasn’t packed and there were available tables and chairs. Good, let’s get situated. Too bad the outdoor garden wasn’t open anymore. It would’ve been great to grab a drink and sit outside alfresco. Bartender was nice, when I asked for a Michelada, he didn’t know what it is, but asked how to make it. Beer and blood mary mix, salt on the rim and add a lime/lemon wedge. Score. My date opted for the standard gin and tonic. He’s a lightweight, after one drink, he started to complain of blurry eyes. Conversations went from the recent events in the Ukraine, to talking about South Africa and why Robbin Island wasn’t on the agenda(we both managed to make it to the Cape of Good Hope, now that was exciting). Next up, Mozambique to see whale sharks and the islands off of Thailand are the things worth seeing. Sweden has fake blondes and Hawaii isn’t even on the map for you at this time. Don’t forget the Middle East, the sights and smells will mesmerize you. After all these years, we could still have a conversation. We stepped outside into the light drizzly rain only to anticipate what would be the inevitable should we ever meet again…

I see Unilocal has removed my old review. Just to be clear: This is a REAL experience and I’m going to attach a photo evidence as well. I’m under the impression Unilocal doesn’t remove comments that is REAL… I’ll do this nicely again. If this doesn’t stick and all the rating I’ve received from this comment is removed again, I will take it to court. — — — — — – This bar endorses racial stereotyping. In last week’s Germany vs Ghana game, the beer garden was packed. A table sits 8 individuals. Me and my three friends(Asian features) share the table with 3 other americans and 2 other Asian women. Waitress«39 Whitney» assumes all Asians sharing a table can be billed together(a single party). We corrected her, telling her we don’t know each other, to which Whitney responds with a ticked-off attitude«Well, YOU didn’t tell me!». Right. Like we needed to tell you; you sat us at different times and you sat us with Americans too! Why not bill us ALL together? No… it has to be Asians together, right? Not really a big deal, but when Whitney went on like it is our fault, and we decided not to tip her. However, gratuity was added into the revised bills. We wanted to remove that fee. I highlighted this to Whitney, who WALKEDAWAY when I told her I wanted to take this fee out. Let me illustrate this: I’m pointing it out to her on my bill, saying I want to tip separately… Whitney just tells me flatly«It is in there» and she WALKSAWAY. I got up and went to the counter to get it out. In the process of getting that default 18% service fee out, the manager and the bouncer comes along. The bouncer threatens to escort us out if «this episode» happens again. When I asked him to describe the episode, he gets lost for words because he can’t describe the episode. Is it a simple bill dispute where a customer wants to tip separately for a party of 3? What’s wrong with that? Or is it a racist event where the waitress assumes we are a party and serves us with a bad attitude? The end story: the service charge is removed and the manager tells me «Sir, you are no longer welcomed here» as I signed the bill.

Really neat German pub nestled along a row of generic dive or uppity cocktail bars. I didn’t even know a giant beer garden, complete with a backyard existed on the Lower East side. Though, it being dead of winter and actually snowing outside when I was here last month, that kind of deems the backyard useless for now.. .. I imagine I will try to come back in the summer to check it out. For beer there was a ton on tap that I had never tried before. Not just your typical Gaffel Kolsch, Spaten, and Radeberger, which they do have all of here. But I wanted to be adventurous and try something new. I tried the Sneider Weiss, which is apparently«THEQUEENOFGERMANBEERS». It was pretty good. Pints are available .3 or Liter Mugs. I opted for a mini mug. My friend somehow was even able to order a half pint because she’s not that into beer and really just wanted a sampling. She also ordered for a snack a bratwurst off of their sausage menu that comes with a few pieces of toast, mustard, and sliced pickled cucumber. I tried a piece and a few cucumbers. Solid. Not as good as some other sausage I have had and I can honestly say that with conviction. It wasn’t as moist as some finer meats. I could keep going. That was not what she said. This place is huge though and worth checking out. Very homey and I enjoyed watching Plushenko get his twirl on in the Winter Olympics on the television screen above the bar area.
