I read the other review about the ‘just one more’, and yeah he does that. I’m ok with it since it does distract a little bit. I can see how some people might find it off-putting. However when it comes to actual work I am a fan of it. Sucky part is that he doesn’t accept insurance which put a significant dent but I am very happy with the pain management and work provided. I had LANAP from him as well as 2 implants. I am the type that does thorough research. The reviews currently on here were insufficient. The super positive one is from a dentist, and the super negative one that didn’t really talk about whether the operation turned out well or if there was any pain aside from the injections. Overall I am very happy, after Lanap surgery honestly I had less pain than getting cavities fixed by a previous dentist. I had no complications(followed whatever the printout said what to do after surgery). During the operation the smell from the laser was kind off-putting, but there wasn’t much pain. I was able to do pain management with ibuprofen i believe. The more recent — 2 implants, were pretty good, I started feeling pain towards the end but then had some more pain killers, and in the evening it hurt pretty bad(sorry to keep referring to the previous crap-dentist but at the level of getting a bigger cavity fixed). He was also made sure that I had some pain management for the evening and for the week after, and said if it still hurt after to ask. Another major plus side is he accepts texting, and replies very quick. The phone number goes either to his assistant, or if they are not available, goes to him. TLDR: 1. Very good pain management 2. No issue with either LANAP followups or implant issues

I have been a dentist for over 20 years and I can highly recommend Dr Neil. Dr. Neil has been an inspiring mentor, & amazing educator. I have learned so much from being around him. Did you know he teaches dentists and periodontists the most advanced laser treatment for gum disease? Make sure you read the filtered reviews here on Unilocal to get an accurate perspective of his practice.

I am an advanced stage cancer patient with server gum disease. I have been looking very long for a dentist who is willing to diagnose my gum disease(or clean my teeth) and hopefully ease my pain a little bit until I was referred to Dr. Lehrman. A dentist from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center(MSKCC) referred me to him. I had to have some treatments before my oncologist could treat me again. Otherwise my jaw bone may be damaged due to the injections that I was about to receive. I had a full mouth laser treatment and within 2 weeks my gum started to feel better. Now I have no pain in my month or jaw, other than the dry month from the chemo treatments. I have less worry about my dental issue. And Dr. Lehrman’s patient manner is superb to say the least. He also works with the doctors in MSKCC so that I know I am in good hands.

After doing research on the LANAP procedure I found only a handful of periodontists offering it in my area. I visited Dr. Lehrman at his Middletown, NY location which I understand he is closing. I asked to have nitrous oxide for the Novocain injections since I knew there would be a series of them for my whole mouth and I have problems with a single injection. Dr. Lehrman played a good game, seemingly expressing concern. The day of the procedure I asked for clarification on the injections, because if it was a series of small injections then I thought perhaps I could do without the nitrous. He assured me that I wouldn’t need the nitrous. Then in starting the procedure he totally disregarded my sensitivity to needles, jabbing me repeatedly until I was in tears. I can’t tell you how many times he claimed«just one more» or «this is it» and he just kept going. Dr. Lehrman took what should have been a relatively painless procedure and made it into a painful and traumatic event. Adding insult to injury, Dr, Lehrman then charged me an additional fee for the first cleaning, which he insisted at the consultation he would need to do, but that it would be included in the cost of the procedure.
